  • He Utterly Hated Steve McQueen, Now We Know the Reason Why
Steve McQueen is a name that echoes through the halls of Hollywood history and is synonymous with rebellion, charisma, and undying coolness. Yet, behind the scenes, not all that glittered was gold in McQueen's relationships, especially with co-stars whose disdain for McQueen has puzzled fans for decades.

There is no one quit like him as an actor. He struggled emotionally and brought those conflicts to the screen. He was tough and unemotional yet had moments of vulnerability a classic duality personality. I miss him as I followed his work throughout his life.

He was the ultimate bad-boy of his generation. A definite attraction.

Toward the end of his life, McQueen became a born-again Christian. Billy Graham gave McQueen one of the Bibles that he had used.

True. McQueen then reciprocated by giving Graham one of the women HE’D used

Seems I heard he was thrown out of the Marines, because he stole a Tank, and drove it on the Streets of California's best kept secret,
    " Oceanside " California !
Obviously, right outside the gates of Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton !
    Ah.....those crazy Marines !
    Favorite movie :
    The Getaway !
    Favorite Tv show :
    Wanted Dead or Alive !
    R.I.P.

The actor Malcolm McDowell looks a lot like Steve McQueen, don't you guys think? It would have been perfect if in a movie Steve played the older brother and Malcolm played the younger brother.

I am 56 and when I saw Bullitt on TV when I was a kid, McQueen became my favorite actor

I saw Bullitt two weeks before I was to report to Oakland Army base as a newly minted second Lieutenant. I drove cross country in five days, bypassing the Grand Canyon and many other sites just to get to San Francisco.

I could never see the adoration for Paul Newman. Steve McQueen had much more presence on screen than Newman. Plus he made better movies.

Newman was his equal to me but I totally agree McQueen had acted in better movies though hud was a good pic and butc c and s dance kid were good films

This video contains a lot of BS and false information. First of all, McQueen and Newman were actually good friends. They bonded over their love of racing and they spent time together at Hollywood parties and had dinner together often, especially in the early days. McQueen was a rival to Newman for acting roles, but that was the extent of their "hatred". McQueen was grateful to Newman for giving him his first break in "Somebody up there Likes Me". Later, they along with a few others formed First Artists in the early 70s. They were FRIENDS and they did not hate each other. Later in the 70s after McQueen took a break from acting they got together at a friend's house and talked for hours on the couch about the old days. Oh yeah...and Sammy Davis Jr. loved Sinatra and did not diss him. Sammy was grateful to Frank for coming to his aid after his car accident in the 50s and helping Sammy get his start in Hollywood. This video is gossip.

The public understands that actors, the top rated ones, all never know who they are truly. They must have notoriety, just as an attic must have their fix.

I don't think that Paul Newman hated Steve McQueen, but Steve felt competition with Yul Bryner and Paul Newman including in the movie The Firing in Towers. They were great actors, but Steve was very angry that Paul Newman had more than 12 lines compared to his which he told the director he needed to have more lines so they corrected that problem.

Blah, blah, blah! All of this could be taken as opinion! I salute Steve McQueen's Mother for grinding it through hard times just like my parents and Grandparents. The thing I heard one of TMC night of the stars is that Steve McQueen turned down the role of the Sundance Kid because he did not want to be the co-star to Paul Newman's Butch Cassidy! They were Hollywood rivals!

    "Rise to Stardum"
Yeah, the legend on the screen actually reads, "Rise to Stardum". If you can't even be bothered to spell check your video, what guarantee can I have that anything in this video is true? Anyway, the word is "stardom".

It's easy to be selfish when other people choose to become subservient to you and don't hold you accountable for your actions.
Like Priscilla Presley and Elvis, his first and second wives outgrew his behavior.

I believe his insecurities made things hard for him. I hate that he didn't want Ali McGraw to work anymore I would not have accommodated him since he became a cheap skate during their marriage. Terrible experience.
