@Salbug55 I commented the same thing earlier. I don’t think he wanted to be tied down to Idol. Plus, he is married. Winning Idol demands so much of your time. He is very devoted to his wife, and she has been by his side through thick or thin. This way they can manage his career on their own terms. He did get a lot of exposure from being on the show, and making it to the ‘top 3’, no less. He sang this duet after he knew he was no longer in contention, and seemed more like the Jack we have all come to love and admire. No more pressure! He will be fine! I’ve been a devoted fan since ‘Rainbow’. That’s when I knew he had something special, that a lot of the others did not. He is a very gifted musician and entertainer.
his first song at audition 'I was wrong' stood out immediately. He has the stage presence of Fantasia, Kelly, Chris Daughtry, Adam, Carrie... we haven't seen that on idol in 10 years unfortunately. The others are great singers but it feels like high school musical theatre- its not about finding a pop star, but like survivor, as soon as its over, they're forgettable. It's ike Karaoke at Prom the way they jump around. Jack is a polished stage performer- rare to find that! I hope he follows in the foot steps of those that didnt win but became more successful. He has a raspiness of Damien Rice, a heaviness like Nat King Cole and a power easiness of Elvis.

Was lucky enough to be in the audience for that performance! It was awesome. They actually did two takes on it so we saw it twice! This was one of the few pre-recorded performances of the live show.
