I have 2 Sears and 2 Ropers Garden tractors ( all made by Roper ) .... a couple B&S engines and a couple Onan's One B&S and One Onan is still running ..the other 2 are needing rebuilds...i am repowering one with a decent Chinese engine... and trying to decide on the other repower option ( looking for a diesel )... i love these GT's..and finally got lots of Attachments now... 🇨🇦🤓🤟
You can use a Air or Electric Impact tool on the puller too...shocks it as you tighten...i prefer heating and Impacting when HOT....no quenching...i use oil to quench over water... 🇨🇦🤓🤟
When you get Tension on your puller ( a good amount ) Stop and whack the puller hard a few times on the puller bolt... don't keep torqueing the bolt as something will give...it might loosen and start coming off..or something breaks....some good blows on the puller adds shock and helps it start moving....Heat it too as you have tension on... tighten abit to see if it loosened?? If not Whack it real hard again....not taps..solid swings....or air hammer the bolt....shocks can get it moving with heat and oil added.... whack it back on if it binds ( sprating oil behind to lube what loosened )..start pulling again....takes time but they finally give up....patience and skills win everytime....over tighten and risk busting the part ( or puller )... 🇨🇦🤓🤟
Stuff explodes when that tight and tensioned..wear eye protection ..face shield if you want to look pretty too ) gloves and arm protection....keep kids and pets away... i seen stuff explode many times and send shrapnel everywhere...took people to emergency too....happened to me to...why i stress SAFETY...better to see or hear than regret it later 🇨🇦🤓🤟
Those do suck! The quenching makes no sense whatsoever. You want those hubs to stay hot when pulling. We pull hubs and adapters off 2" to 5" shafts at work and never quench
Months?? to remove ?? ok sometimes they are hard but there is a way if you keep trying....that puller looks nice but you need an adaptor for other pulls... or just buy another one that is easier to setup straighter... They weld themselves but a impact hammer and a puller putting tension always breajs them loose...heat them too..oil them and hammer them back on if they start stopping pulling out ( spray oil on them as you hammer them back in )... 🇨🇦🤓🤟 been wrenching for 50 plus yeats on all kinds of stuff
I did the same about ten years ago and I ended up cutting it and the buying a new hub, just for a leaking seal…..CHEERS
You did a really nice job on your tractor buddy?I watched all your videos and you got a really nice kid.
Good for you
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO

I removed hubs from a 73 Sears st16 - barn find - came right off - I now see how lucky I was
,
The quenching is your problem, mettel shrinks when it cools, pull when it's hot.

Use a hose clamp to clamp the band down for the break when it's 44 the epoxy to dry
