The hoops end are close to the ear when wearing, unless the beads are removed intentionally upward, it’d pretty much stay in the hoop. Hope this helps. (The design is also made to be interchangeable with different beads)

Can I use gold filled wire? Do you think the ends will tarnish?
Yes you can, the end would tarnish but it’s hardly visible, unless you pay close attention to it.
The open hoops, how do you secure the bead to not come out?
