He is always punished for the programme components, althoug he really has difficult techncial programmes. I could never understand how referees see that he has less skating skills compared to someone who has no quads in programme. Besides, Boyang is the first single Chinese skater who interprets his programmes.
Everything is simpler: the components serve to pull desirable winners out of prizes with them, and remove those who are not desirable for the ISU as a winner from the pedestal. For example, all Chinese figure skaters have very low components, despite the fact that everyone skates in different ways and there are very talented skaters and interpreters. But the components of all are close to the bottom. This ISU policy, which encourages the entry of Japanese, American and Russian figure skaters onto the pedestal.
technical score =/= program components. i'm a boyang fan but i get why his PCS is lower than someone like say, the likes of hanyu. just because he has high technical scores doesn't mean he should be high on skating skills as well. SS is about edge control and flow over the ice surface, clarity of technique, command of skating (edges, turns, etc). his SS shouldn't be on par with the likes of yuzuru hanyu and patrick chan. but he's still young, and i saw a lot of improvement on his performance skills compared to past seasons. hopefully we'll see more improvement in the future. also, boyang isn't the first chinese single skater to "interpret" his programs. han yan and zijun li have wonderful performance skills.
That was a great interview. Thanks a million for the subs. I would not understand otherwise.
omg this precious boy
