Tremendous performance!!! Exquisitely sung and acted. The greatest, most versatile American Bass-Baritone of the 20th-21st century. Hands down!

      How about Samuel Ramey?

@@BaroneVitellioScarpia1 Touche. I am a huge Ramey fan too, though I think Morris and Ramey fall into different categories of Bass-Baritone. Ramey could pull off true bass roles better than Morris (and in several cases, roles Ramey did would not have worked for Morris like Sarastro etc.) but Morris could pull off true baritone roles better than Ramey, and in several cases, Morris did roles that Ramey could not do (Amonasro, Iago, Wotan etc.)

Die Stimme ist fantastisch, und vor allem die Gestaltung des Rezitativs ist fantastisch. Das Tempo der Arie ist ein Blödsinn. (Die Artikulation der einleitenden Akkorde dennoch interessant.)

The actor is playing his son, and James Morris is Not Short.

    just a few small imperfections:
    ☻ swoop swoop swoop
    ☻ mwaaap mwaaap mwaaap
    ☻ pick a note
☻ is there an emotion in what you're singing? TELL YOUR FACE!
☻ sing OUT, not inward, open your mouth.
☻ the voice is 50% buzz, not pretty , but that was trendy in the 80s-90s.
note to the director: did you forget about the kid??? did you tell him anything? did you tell him to understand the text and react to the text?

      1: wtf does that mean
      2: WTF does that mean
3: He slides, not a crime.
4: This is live theatre, nobody is closer than 100 feet, nobody can see his face but you, the loser on youtube.
5: You don't need to open your mouth to project your voice. Many of the great singers had small to medium mouth openings. If you knew anything about singing you'd know that
6: In the house his voice is rich and warm and beautiful. The buzz is to get it INTO the house, not for mic's and recordings. Again, if you ever heard Opera LIVE, you'd know that.

In the house, Morris has perhaps the prettiest bass/bass-baritone voice I’ve ever heard, so much warmth, ring, and color. In the house, the buzz comes off as velvet, the voice is exceptionally dark, with a symphony of bells inside it. Also noted as one of the best acting basses out there for a good reason. Interesting that some people miss the artistry of a master.
