I think Hasbro will re-do the Vader removable helmet sometime in 2023 when the ROTJ 40th anniversary comes in. And if that happens, I hope they will do a proper removable helmet and dome version, with improved articulation, (and not lazy it up to using previous sculpting/joint system).
A Revenge of the Sith Darth Vader with a removeable helmet would be cool. Seeing the recently burnt skin instead of that white elderly look would be amazing.

Comes with lots of changeable hands and has a super accurate helmet and comes with two lightsabers, one where he can hold it another one where it can go on his belt
Agree! This is the best Vader so far. Hasbro’s paint on Vader’s helmet reminds me when I spray painted my bike. I was 10, what’s their excuse? A removable helmet would have been a nice touch. That seem to be the trend that Hasbro was heading too. Maybe only the Mandilorian line has that feature?
I have the Rogue One/A New Hope Vader which looks superb so I didn't think I needed this Empire Strikes Back version...but wow better articulation and new sculpt. I still don't need it...but we wants it preciousss!
They need to make one of the clone wars cartoon version of vader (his appearance in the ending) , I know there isnt a major difference in that vader to this original live action one but to me I find that his mask in that cartoon is designed slightly better. Looks more menacing because his eyes aren't so roundly shaped.
Well this convinced me to get him :) I haven't dipped into the Star Wars Black figures. In fact the last time I collected Star Wars figures was Power of the Force waaaaay back in the day. So... yeah, lol. But as I'm getting into taking cool pictures of my Marvel Legends figures I find myself expanding out to other 6 inch figures. I think it's about time I got some Star Wars figures again!

They keep getting better. Minus the poor texture on his helemet. I really dig this version as well as the sh figure arts ROTJ Vader that was released not to long ago. Also, the hyperreal one was pretty dope.

It shares much of the same tooling as the 40th Vader. New parts are the lower arms from the elbow to the hands, a new upper torso with butterfly joints & a socket for double ball pegged neck articulation. The helmet appears to be a slightly retooled version of the 40th Vader, changing minor details, but the dimensions seem to have stayed the same. Legs, lower torso, belt/codpiece, upper arms, and lightsaber are re-use. Chest plate could be new. Or maybe it looks new since the older one had the robes over it and this one the robes go underneath. It's a glued down overlay either way.

I just went to my local target and found all the wave except rebels. I opened Darth vader and he is actually good on mine. I’m sorry to here yours is messed up.
Maybe they will give us a unmasked vader face when they do the return of the Jedi 40th aniversary stuff, knowing that he was unmasked in the rotj movie.
They tried that, and you got sad puppy Vader. If they do a deluxe version that comes with a separate head sculpt and some different accessories for 30 that would be good

ROTJ 40th should come with a separate head sculpt for the unmasked part, maybe the extra pieces for the helmet for the extra accessories, make his right hand removable and replaceable with the wires exposed, maybe throw in a set of binders for Luke in the package, and even some lightning effects would be cool too. Not sure what else they could throw in there, maybe a broken railing? 😂
Only thing I wish is that he came with the saber swing effect since he's mostly reuse. Still looks great. I've yet to get a BS Vader and this might be the one. My favorite is the Mafex R1 version
Same for me. Mafex R1 Vader is the most perfect one so far IMO but I would love to see a comparison between that and this one because this looks great too.
@@Commander_Shepard. id argue best in relation to price point. At what point is it diminishing returns. Is a slight improvement worth a $70 price jump.
If you can’t find another Vader this is how you can fix the dome, get some high grit sandpaper 500 or more and then sand if the paint drips, next mask of everything on the head except for the dome and spray it with a gloss black and then once that’s dry spray with a gloss clear coat.
Honestly idrc about limited head movement cuz Vader actually does have limited head movement because of his helmet in the movies you can especially see it when he’s fighting luke in empire strikes back

This and the 40th ANH Vader are two of the best figures I’ve seen in the entire line. Well worth the money they ask for. I managed to even get the rare ANH variant of Vader
This is the best Darth Vader figure... In the Black Series line. The best of them all are the Bandai model kits. Once you replace the plastic/rubber shell capes with cloth and paint it up, they're perfect.

Most of the figures are repacks (with face printing added), so when they do a new figure like Snowspeeder Luke, the Hoth rebel, or ESB Vader, they also release it in the main line since all the other 40th figs have already been released in the main line. Also for better availability since they're popular characters.
Great figure but I still think the black series Darth Vader that's based off his rogue one appearance is still the best detailed Black series vader figure we have so far and im gonna stick with that one, the mask is designed so perfectly on it.

This is the 3rd one. There was that awful 1st attempt with the removable helmet in 2014 (plus that Walgreens repaint, guess that's 4 then?), and the 2017 Ep4 Vader. It appears this one reuses the ANH Vader with new upper torso and forearms/gloves. Is the chest plate new? Looks like it could be the same as the ANH but with the robes going under instead of over. Great upgrade regardless, if for no other reason than finally getting butterfly joints on a Hasbro Vader. Now if only we could get wrists that hinge forward instead of side to side on Vader or any other Jedi/Sith/saber wielding character, and we'd be set.
sorry to see you got a bad paint app on the helmet dome. But you COMPLETELY MISSED the fact the helmet is painted EXACTLY like the screen used prop with the dark gunmetal accents! 501st members who have built a Vader costume know this easily.

Are my multivitamins actually crazy pills, ‘cause I don’t get it. Nice review though. However, I prefer the ANH version, especially on that nice, thick 40th cardback.

I like the ANH version of Vader. The larger head sculpt feels more right, and so does the larger chest box.
The Costumes were Different between All of the Films. The Helmet, and Chest Box changed from ANH to ESB, also the Stitching of His Gloves Changed.

it seems like the rough helmet might be QC issues on hasbro’s part. my vader’s helmet is pretty much completely smooth and glossy

The butterfly joints really make a difference. You can almost, just almost, get him to fold his arms across his chest.

Looks way better with the chest piece over his tunic. That's my preferred look.

Now they are Numbering them by Film, or Television Show. Each Film or Show will have it's Own.
