It’s super validating to see some of the sellers I’ve had issues with in the past over condition get called out here 👏🏼👏🏼 I’m sorry that the condition on a lot of these aren’t up to snuff but it’s an unfortunate reality

I've personally had two bad experiences with that seller mentioned in the video.
Mad FL or something sent me cards not in a top loader but wrapped in hard paper. They also weren't in a sleeve but instead a piece of tape to ensure they don't slide out of the hard paper.
Left them a neutral review for it arriving without damage but could easily have been damaged. They sent me a request to change it, and after not responding, they blocked me from buying from them 😂.

You need to make an ultimate guide for shipping cards (commons, low rarity, high rarity, high end stuff), so we can all share it within the community and have a source to come back to. Because most of the time, I am not happy with how sellers pack cards.
I couldn't agree more man! I've got some cards in those cardboard packages that were in the rain and they were ruined...

In my experience, the card stand has NEVER sold a card as Nm and it arrived as Nm. I’ve told so many people to avoid them like the plague. I’m actually happy you exposed their name. I’m sorry if it “hurts” their business, but they’re literally scamming others
ive bought from them like twice and both times i ahd to get a refund after waiting 2 months for each package. still never received them either so who knows if they actually shipped it, all the other items from other sellers in the orders came

looked through my order history and i've tried to buy from them twice... each time the cards never came in and took weeks of nagging to get the refund issued.
We could literally make an entire list of sellers that do this kind of stuff, and it'd basically list almost every single verified 25000+ seller.
This is why, when I go card shopping, I usually go for LP as my baseline. I feel like stressing over whether a card is NM or not is usually not worth it when LP is 95% of the time good enough.

It's so baffling that the seller even considered sending that. You know 100% that the person handling it didn't even take a second to look, which really shows how most big sellers are like.

I remember seeing that card with the star on the back during the stream a while back and it was definitely one of the most "tcgplayer near mint" moments I've ever seen.

I think this video is the best video I have seen in a while. Going through your purchased cards and buying NM and they arrive not in that condition is absolutely frustrating. If you are selling cards, take the time to package them properly and make sure the card you sold is actually in the condition you had put it up for. People need to be educated the difference between NM and LP/MOD. People dont use their brains and just throw it in an envelope and send it thinking all is good. Sellers have a standard that isn't being upheld and just ruins the experience!

This is a useful learning experience, I've bought many of my pricier cards in lightly played or even heavily played (didn't risk a damaged one yet) but they always looked fine to me as far as I could tell. Didn't look for that kind of smudging and scratches on the back

Grade 10 is gem mint, 9 is near mint, 8 is lightly played, 7 heavily, 6 and below damaged

Mandatory viewing for TCG Player sellers! Check condition (both sides) before listing, and quit it with the tape addiction, and you'll be ahead of most sellers. Funny that one of the sellers in this video sold me something that was a long way from near-mint. I've had to do a bunch of returns lately!
Tape is necessary typically, because you have to close the opening. Even if you also put the toploader in the team bag, if the card falls out, it can be damaged.
However, if you use Masking Tape, it's actually perfectly fine, as it's easier to take out.
This should be a series, buy from TCG is a gamble lol

Honestly this is the main reason I shop for singles on eBay specifically. The sellers usually have detailed pictures of the cards so you can see what you're buying before you spend the money. Plus, a lot of sellers are quick to respond and answer any questions you may have. TCG player seems kind of risky to me.

Man, it's something I think I'll just never understand. Like, my first thought when someone complains about the condition of a card by looking at the back is "Well... just put it in a sleeve where you can't see the back, the front is what's important."
And then I realize that most of the people aren't even going to use those cards, and that to someone who seeks to buy cards as investments rather than as a hobby, that kind of stuff actually does matter. It's just strange to me; I know I could never be a collector.
I was so sad when I saw some of conditions that were labeled near mint on Twitch, but glad to see some good sellers and how they packaged it.
Was going to start buying singles for my first deck. Good to see what kind of quality to expect!

I was apart of the original stream. I thought we did pretty well. It is surprising how many of the NM items came out to be NM as opposed to LP or VLP. Star was wild though haha.

TCGPlayer is great for competition. Mid for pristine collecting. Got a NM Starlight and it's trimming was unbelievably horrendous, but I mean, it was NM. Pack to Sleeve I bet.
That star on the fiber jar was outrageous. Im glad that most of the cards were in a nice condition but that was a lot

I’m surprised you didn’t have an issue with missing cards. Like 1/4 the packages I get are missing something, that was supposed to be in it.
I’ve had similar experiences with tcg but nothing as bad as what you got. Maybe a couple scratches and some scuffing. That star is just insane. I sell my cards in a penny sleeve then a normal sleeve so if it falls out it’s protected and then in a top loader. I do tape it because I’ve received a card where it fell out and kinda dinged the top but I suppose if double sleeve that probably won’t happen.
I'm a small seller on TCGPlayer. The cardboard sleeves are about 12-14 cents. Top loaders are about 30-35 cents each. I send cards that are 10 or more dollars in a top loader. I also sell cards down to 35 cents as well. Anywhere you can save some extra cents, it helps. All I'm trying to do is recover some of my money that I spent on my sealed product. If I buy 300 bucks worth of of sealed boxes, I make about 30-40 bucks back on it because I also collect as well as play, selling extras requires as much cost saving as possible while also trying to ship as quality is possible.

As a new YugiTuber I’d love some advice in regards to shipping cards that I know won’t be in my collection. I don’t want to mess up anyone’s near mint cards I’m trying to get to them.
I've had the exact same issue withThe card stand on TCGPlayer. Bought a vintage 1st edition card listed at a really nice condition, turns out it was NOWHERE near the listed condition, will never purchase from them again after continually hearing things about that seller.

Funny to see your experience (and other comments) about The card stand. I bought the black star promo Entei (pokemon) NM and it came damaged at best. Asked for a replacement and they said they sent it but it never came. WIll be avoiding The card stand in the future
Seeing the star card reminds me of one of my past purchase where someone literally drew an outline on the front of a card and called it 'in good condition'... The card didn't cost much thankfully.
I would find out if they have a physical store and pay to fly there just to toss the card on the counter and slap them in the face. Complete with a full Joe Pesci routine lol
Before you even said it was The Card Stand I was thinking to myself it would be so funny it was them and then you said their name I just about jumped out my chair. I have had so many problems with them about never shipping my cards and never responding to messages. I will never order from them
You need to contact tcgplayer about it. They stand behind the listed condition and when someone sends the wrong condition it reflects on the entire platform. Apparently they throw their weight at the vendors because suddenly otherwise silent vendors start sending messages of apology and sometimes offer free cards on top of a replacement with free shipping.
This was a lot of fun watching your investments and a lot of those cards were not near mint condition
