Originally this train was running between Palghat Town and Thiruvananthapuram, with loco reversals at Palakkad Jn and Shoranur Jn. Later it was linked with Rajya Rani exp from Nilambur at Shoranur. Now it skips Shoranur altogether.

Earlier it was running from Trivandrum Central to Palakkad Town as a Link Express with Trivandrum Central-Nilambur Road Rajyarani....from shoranur, the rake used to split and Amrutha used to go to Palakkad Town and Rajyarani towards Nilambur Road...in the return trip, rakes of Amrutha and Rajyarani used to combine at Shoranur and together travelled to Trivandrum...later they were separated and Rajyarani now run upto Kochuveli only (timings changed) and Amrutha runs as Madurai-Trivandrum...I was a regular passenger once in every two weeks from TVC to Alwaye... The link express used to start from TVC at 10.25 PM...
This Amrita Express from Trivandrum Central to Palakkad was introduced when Shri O Rajagopal was Railway Minister and some time back it was extended to Madurai.
1)Bro earlier this amrita exp used to go shoranur as it used to have few coaches of Rajyarani Exp which used to go from trivandrum to nilambur road. If this train reaches SRR the link coaches of rajyarani exp gets detached and take reversal. At that time amrita exp had reservation coaches of only 7 SL coach and 1 AC 2 tier coach.
2) And maybe in 2017/18 both the trains were separated and amrita exp started to have AC 3 tier coaches and bypasses Shoranur jn too

She runs famous Amrita school of engineering, Amrita schools and in cochin Amrita institute of medical science is also there. So the train runs in her name only. Earlier it used to run from Palghat to Trivandrum central now it got extended to Madurai

Pls do a vlog from Chennai Central to Trivandrum Central by Train no 12623 Trivandrum Mail. It is one of the oldest and prestigious train run by Southern Railway. It starts from Chennai at 7:45 pm and it reaches Trivandrum at 11:30 am. At morning 5:15 am you will reach Thrissur. From there onwards you can cover all beautiful Kerala scenery till Trivandrum. It would be a wonderful train journey for sure. Bye.
