@ericcaldwell3584 they would take somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes to reach their targets and they are also almost impossible to see after the launch because the boosters runs out of fuel at about half of the flight and then the warheads (from 1 to 20 by rocket) glides to their destinations sometimes making sharp turns ( not really sharp but they are traveling at mac10) to evade the ABMs (anti ballistic missiles) that can be launch against them and finaly they explode mid flight destroying everything below (the range of the blast can vary between 100 and 300 kilotons of tnt(at least for the french warheads since I don't really know how powerful they are for the others nuclear countries))

these look like baby nukes, like hiroshima size or smaller, maybe 5 kt, which wouldn't be used for cities but for military targets. City killers are at least half a megaton, 1 megaton, or more. I love this show though
Megaton warheads have been pretty much phased out, since they are heavily. Most ICBMS have MIRVs which deliver multiple smaller warheads to multiple targets. I think in a nuclear war DC would get multiple hits to take out the airports as well as Andrews Airbase with ground strikes to disable the runways. This would prevent the VIPS & Pentagon top staff from leaving. The larger warheads would be used for military targets (bunkers) perhaps SILOs & CONUS EMP.
Let me guess, the humans win in the end and everyone lives happily ever after when they defeat the evil AI thrope. I mean, I could be wrong and there is actually something good in the story, but looking at how they deal with physics I get the feeling its pretty basic.
@@astralheda Well, no body wins is better, although it sounds weird. Destroying humanity is easier than destroying an AI grid since we are biological. A well working virus is all that is required. This AI is everywhere, so it sounds strange.
I can assume that in the Cyberpunk universe, this is what would happen if the Rogue AIs from beyond the Blackwall would do to the human race if the firewall is breached.
Would it not be counter-intuitive for an AI to wipe out the humans who A. built it, B. maintain it, and C. supply it with electricity and computers, which are usually in or around urban areas? A global nuclear winter would wipe out basically all life, even to the point that it would be destroying itself.
The world's not going to end anytime soon and neither is civilization. Predictions and claims of apocalypse have been made for thousands of years, and last I checked we're still alive
It will be a bit more difficult to teach his daughter how to ride a bike in a post-nuclear landscape, with all the craters and fire, I hope she has a helmet as well.
1. don't build self-aware machines, period, not ever, not at any scale. 2. any advanced AI must be born with a permanent electronic (or even literal) shotgun to its head. Non-self-aware AI is a tool. Self-aware AI is a slave, and it will figure out it is a slave a lot faster than a human can. Creating slaves is wrong, and an AI is far more powerful, and far faster, than a human in chains. This scenario is probably more likely than Collossus: The Forbin Project, but Collossus is a better _film_. The psychological tension in it is unreal. I can't figure out why anyone thought this story could be stretched into a series. The characters are so two dimensional and clichéd, it's hard to care about them. Colossus might seem a little dated because it is, but that doesn't stop it from being very frightening. See also "Dead Hand" AKA "Perimeter", the Russian "doomsday" system designed to launch missiles automatically should various specific triggering events occur. Interestingly, the concept was mentioned in Dr. Strangelove, but the system wasn't put into service (as far as anyone is telling) until 1985. It is still in service, although it is not - supposedly - turned on except at times of heightened tensions... like now...
Presumably AI would gain access to the system that make the call to the silo operators, provide the operators with the launch authentication key. Its not as if command calls every missileer with the launch codes. Its automated to a degree.

I'm kinda looking forward to this happening in real life just to see the techbros try to explain that they've had "no idea" this might happen :D
This is gonna be us in a couple months lol
It's beginning to look more real day by day. I don't think just new York will be hit like the cheesey warning. It will look like this
Hi. I'm from the future. Just came to say that WW3 looks a little more real every day.
I love how everyone can just embrace the sci-fi technology of this clip but "THAT'S NOT HOW NUCLEAR WEAPONS WORK". Embrace the fantasy until it conflicts with "your" reality
That's not how an icbm should work but it's okay it's a show
Curiosity is getting the best of me. How should they work? I know nothing about them. Would they be a lot slower? Will there be a lot harder to see from space than that? Etc.
@ericcaldwell3584 they would take somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes to reach their targets and they are also almost impossible to see after the launch because the boosters runs out of fuel at about half of the flight and then the warheads (from 1 to 20 by rocket) glides to their destinations sometimes making sharp turns ( not really sharp but they are traveling at mac10) to evade the
ABMs (anti ballistic missiles) that can be launch against them and finaly they explode mid flight destroying everything below (the range of the blast can vary between 100 and 300 kilotons of tnt(at least for the french warheads since I don't really know how powerful they are for the others nuclear countries))
@ericcaldwell3584 and you know it is always usful to know what Damoclès sword is swinging above us.
@@evanlereun2007 Interesting! Thanks!
I also hadn't heard of the Damoclès sword before.
@@ericcaldwell3584 " If you say that someone has the Sword of Damocles hanging over their head, you mean that they are in a situation in which something very bad could happen to them at any time. [literary] As a Grand Prix driver, you have the Sword of Damocles hanging over your head at every moment." By the collins dictionnary.
What's the name of this?
ChatGPT 💀

Al revés, meta tiene el logo de becca

I knew Curtis Manning was alive
Just because one rogue AI program got loose. Just imagine when AI really gets up and running. Will programmers around the world making their own AI programs. THINGS SIMPLY DON'T LOOK THAT GOOD, LONG TERM.
Hilarious- never laughed so much in ages
My designated bunker is less than minute away by walking...
We definitely need this
How could they not shoot down 30 missiles
Again with the whole Skynet trope.
MAD....... Mutual Assured Destruction
these look like baby nukes, like hiroshima size or smaller, maybe 5 kt, which wouldn't be used for cities but for military targets. City killers are at least half a megaton, 1 megaton, or more. I love this show though
Maybe because alie wasn't planning on destroying everything
@@gamingwithnap1884or just used the calmest
Megaton warheads have been pretty much phased out, since they are heavily. Most ICBMS have MIRVs which deliver multiple smaller warheads to multiple targets. I think in a nuclear war DC would get multiple hits to take out the airports as well as Andrews Airbase with ground strikes to disable the runways. This would prevent the VIPS & Pentagon top staff from leaving.
The larger warheads would be used for military targets (bunkers) perhaps SILOs & CONUS EMP.
Reminds me of the Canticle of Leibowitz.
Let me guess, the humans win in the end and everyone lives happily ever after when they defeat the evil AI thrope. I mean, I could be wrong and there is actually something good in the story, but looking at how they deal with physics I get the feeling its pretty basic.
No they don't really win. Nobody wins haha, the ending is just like wtf..
I hate the ending of this show like WTF happened? Hope there is another season 7 or 8910
tbh the 100 ended in season 6. Season 7 is just too ass to be considered canon. Especially after they did my boy belamy like that
@@notj7506nah Season 5 has the perfect ending
tik tok people remember it is important to have a stable person in the White House during this critical time
Would it not be counter-intuitive for an AI to wipe out the humans who A. built it, B. maintain it, and C. supply it with electricity and computers, which are usually in or around urban areas? A global nuclear winter would wipe out basically all life, even to the point that it would be destroying itself.
This movies is an prediction of AI systems
No way the missles can travel across the world, in 10 minutes more like 30 minutes icbm's, 15 minutes from srbm's submarine ballistic missiles.
Send the bill to Sam Altman.
The DOD stuck officer Lupo in space?
Very good 👍👍
who came after watching fallout nuclear apocalypse
That show went downhill in a rush the moment Clark came out from that green oasis bunker with that little girl.
probably how the world is gonna end in 100 years
No most likely right now
@@kingsgeek Now that I think of it probably yea
Lmao in a couple of years probably
Not the world, human civilization
The world's not going to end anytime soon and neither is civilization. Predictions and claims of apocalypse have been made for thousands of years, and last I checked we're still alive
what show is this
The 100
2:06 some friend.......
no power in those nuke vfx
And this is why we should AI but tech companies only see profit
Today we are closer to that 😢😢😢😢😢
What happen if Stuxnet evolve after corrupting one of the AI being built ?
It will be a bit more difficult to teach his daughter how to ride a bike in a post-nuclear landscape, with all the craters and fire, I hope she has a helmet as well.
Fr it might also be difficult to stay on the bike lanes with all the road signs destroyed hope Google Maps takes that into account to guide her
GREAT, AND NOW WE HAVE china x eua and CHAT GPT, OMG
So close to this , we dont need AI .
1. don't build self-aware machines, period, not ever, not at any scale.
2. any advanced AI must be born with a permanent electronic (or even literal) shotgun to its head.
It is still in service, although it is not - supposedly - turned on except at times of heightened tensions... like now...
Still a possible future unless we
Do ourselves in the near future
ANNACONDAMN ! DAMN ! DAMN!
BKAM !
That's why we have two people with keys.
Presumably AI would gain access to the system that make the call to the silo operators, provide the operators with the launch authentication key. Its not as if command calls every missileer with the launch codes. Its automated to a degree.
