Jay Silverheels also had a double in most of his fight scenes. He would throw a punch or two but if you look closely, you'll see his double in any rough and tumble scenes. Which made sense since he had a bad heart. He had a heart attack during the series and missed a number of episodes (which is why they first introduced the Lone Ranger's nephew.) Although lots of actors in the 1940s and 1950s did their own stunts. For ex: Gene Kelly. A BIG star and some of the things he did were incredible.
