BAND-MAID is more than anime-adjacent, their story is Japanese manga/anime in real life. A tale of an aspiring idol singer working in a maid cafe who pursued her idea of a rock band. The gathering of the members, their first gig, and the introduction of Saiki would be good for the first half-dozen episodes. Soon they will unleash their US tour and write a new chapter. 🙂

Band-Maid fans notice a lot of hidden clues in this video. The one that's most poignant to me is at 3:02 where Miku is shown (Alone) in the original 2014 video Thrill where she couldn't play guitar at that point and to reflect on how far she has come since then. Also At 3:34 Kanami with hearts around her when she's close with Saiki since every fan knows that Kanami is in love with Saiki.
Also, @3:21, Misa has a flask (because she loves to drink), and Akaine is eating a banana, since her nickname is the Gorilla.
They're all the same members, just the prior videos you watched are several years old, they were a bit younger. The Thrill video is nearly 9 years old.
I love that they went from their cartoon selves to their actual selves to turning into (basically) Sailor Moon status. Awesome lol

Band-Maid of late has this certain phenomenon thing going regarding their more progy-punk hard rock and Anime written tunes. These songs are hard, complex and will totally grow on you like a thousand pound R&R leech. The Maids in this format are relentless and powerful. Their new “AniMaid” (anime) Covid-fighting MV and new battle gear is exciting, meaningful and classy! Unleash (or Sense) could be, in my thinking, their new opener for their upcoming 2022 US Tour. It is in a way a loosely told history about the band, and their own fight against their doubt and sadness. You see all except Miku had scenes. I know the one with Kanami is refering to a time when Saiki and Miku both got late to the rehearsal, and Mincho had a little breakdown. Thinking that they didn't take it seriously.
I believe that the one after is where Miku loses the grip, and kind of falls into the same sadness.
The band has been put on hold and their highly anticipated concert at the famous Budokan was cancelled because of the pandemic.
Instead we got this online concert. You could kind of feel the remorse and disappointment from the girls. But they deicided to unwrap their gift to the fans though the beautiful song "About us". Usually Miku is quite talkative... But she seemed to be a little restained.
So before the song, Saiki held this very emotional speech for the fans.
Quite sure it refers to her as the one who was taking more of the load from Miku.
And where the other girls are frozen, she starts to sing by example.
End scene is the girls fighting "it" and show they're ready to take on the world.
There have never been any members of band maid other than the five that you see in this or any of their videos. They did start out as a 4 piece band but added the 5th member after a very short time.

Miku created the band as the only singer and didn't even know how to play guitar at the time. Miku found Kanami playing guitar online. Kanami invited her occasional drummer Akane to join with her. Akane invited her music schoolmate bass player MISA to join. They soon decided that Miku's vocals were not exactly right for the type of music that they wanted to play, so they held auditions for another singer and their management company suggested Saiki.

The band have been together for nearly ten years. Just get better and keep evolving the music but the members stay the same.
