Dr. Seuss writes in rhyme, hence the rhyming. Ok kiddo, you should see the original animated version.
Glad you're happy Aria🙂
I read this and laughed 😂. You’re older than me for sure I grew up with this movie but I watched the one from 1966 with my grandma as a kid
"You're the... the..."
"...the... the... THE GRINCH?!"
Merry Christmas! ✝️ 🙏 🎄 🎁
Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Q'orianka Kilcher and Eva Burkley.
Music Enthusiast Fact: Taylor Momsen has left acting and is focused on her heavy metal band: The Pretty Reckless.
What Script Fact: When the Grinch pulls the sheet off of the table, all of the silverware was scripted to fall off. Jim Carrey pulled the sheet off so well that he improvised and went back to push the silverware off. Many of the Grinch's lines were ad-libbed by Jim Carrey.
Make-Up Shenanigans Fact: According to Rick Baker, the prosthetic make-up Jim Carrey wore took about two hours to apply and one hour to remove. Jim Carrey revealed in The Graham Norton Show that he felt so confined and uncomfortable in the latex skin that he sought counselling from a CIA agent who taught him torture-resistance techniques. Producer and director Ron Howard was so thankful for Jim Carrey putting up with the uncomfortable hours to apply his make-up that during filming he put on the Grinch suit with full make-up and directed one day with the suit on. He intended this to be a show of appreciation to Carrey. However, when Carrey saw Howard in a full Grinch outfit he believed he was a stunt double who "looked nothing like him" and was angered. The Whoville set was built mostly on the backlot of Universal Studios behind the Bates Motel. During a breaks in filming, Jim Carrey surprised and scared tourists on the Universal Backlot Tour by running out of the hotel wearing a dress and brandishing a knife. Nobody recognized him and the tour guide at Universal Studios will tell you the story when you pass by the hotel on the Backlot Tour.
Even though the mayor was mean, his actor did a great role of acting mean. But Jim’s work is the best.
In one behind-the-scenes footage, they both were in character. Jim Carrey bit off the mayors prosthetic nose with his mouth. Causing the production team to laugh. It was a funny and memorable moment in the behind-the-scenes-footage.
When I saw this in theaters in 2000 I remember thinking it would be an instant classic. Ron Howard did such an amazing job on this live action version of the Grinch story. It will be awesome forever!! 🌲
I really love this movie, and the music is wonderfully done. Jim Carrey can express himself in character through movement as well as dialogue. Loved your reaction, made my Christmas. 🎄
Aria, Jim Carrey is pretty much done with acting now. He only appears in films occasionally. He has said he is pretty much burned out. Everyone wanted him to stay a wacky, goofy guy in all his films, and he instead always wanted to branch out into more dramatic roles. He didn't really accept being type cast like Will Ferrell has.
That said, I would recommend watching Will Ferrell in his two more serious roles in "Stranger Than Fiction" and "Everything Must Go." They are really good, quality films and Will is surprisingly a very solid dramatic actor similar to Robin Williams. He understands the art of pathos and how to project it realistically in his performances. It's a shame Will is also mostly trapped doing crazy, silly comedies.
I love that "Arabie Benson Who, I hate you" scene at the cave, because if you put the fact that he was going alphabetically and that the mayor's name was Augustus, it hints that Augustus was the one that Grinch "Loathes Entirely".
The girl who plays little Cindy Lou Who grew up to be the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless. That's a young Taylor Momsen if you didn't know.
15:00 "He wore a T-shirt just to rip it." I'm pretty sure he was attempting to reenact a certain scene from Alien. 😆
I love the way Jim Carrey sang the iconic song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" while adding his own comedic elements to it like the hilarious sound effects. And his freak out when the sleigh takes off. "We're going to die!! We're going to die!! I'm going to throw up, and then I'm going to die!! Mommy, tell it to stop!!"
Also, I really love how the actress who played Cindy Lou, Taylor Momsen went on to be the front woman and lead singer of a band called The Pretty Reckless. Also, I can sympathize with the Grinch, having been a victim of bullying growing up. I know the feeling of not liking people because of it.
Side notes:
I would LOVE to have Martha May's Santa outfit, her Whobilation gown and her flowing robe. (in my size, of course. I'm quite a bit taller and thicker than Christine Baranski)
Augustus May Who is the true villain, and I never feel bad when the Grinch gets back at him for the years of torment by shaving his Quaker Oats mascot hair. 😆🤣
My favourite childhood movie i watched every Christmas😊.
I appreciate you being well spoken. What a great voice you have too. What a jewel. Cool!
Usually I hate it when movies try to give the villain a back story to humanize them, like they did with Maleficent. But this was in 2000, when that sort of thing wasn't common, and it's well done here and makes sense. We know from reading the book that he's going to come around anyway, so seeing that he was basically a good kid who was bullied and that caused him to do what he did provides context and actually improves on the story, in my view. This movie was roundly criticized for being "too dark and scary" for kids. Now, I think people are realizing that's a good thing. You need some darkness in a movie like this so that when you get to the happy ending, it feels earned. Like you went through something and you feel something for the characters. By the way, Cindy Lou Who is played by Taylor Momsen, who is a goth/metal band called the Pretty Reckless. To say she's changed significantly from this would be an understatement.

In my honest opinion, Jim Carrey's Grinch was the best. Because of him, I was a kid trying to get toys related to the movie. Even a remote controlled RC Car that had him on that tiny car.
One of the things I love about Jim Carrey is his improve - Him looking at the camera, breaking the 4th wall and saying "kids these days.." was for example improvised, him "directing" Max was him basically making fun of the movie's director Ron Howard (and Howard is pretty well known for wearing caps) and when he took away the cloth from the table, everything on it was originally suppose to fall, but in a funny coincidence everything stayed on. But then Jim just went back & pushed everything from the table XD =)
Have you ever seen dennis the menace if not I think your reaction to it would be good another one is mouse hunt.
Loved your reaction, always love your reactions. Love Jim Carrey as well, Dumb & Dumber I feel is his best one. Please react to Dumb & Dumber. Merry Christmas!

Great Reaction to this Movie....
While this movie has Great Costumes, Set-Design and Jim Carey does an Excellent Delivery of the Grinch......
I happen to Prefer the 1966 Cartoon.... Maybe cause it is a part of my Childhood.....
You are beautiful & I love your laugh
The top choices of actors that were optioned to play The Grinch were Jack Nicholson, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Tom Hanks, and Tim Curry. In my opinion, Jim Carrey was irreplaceable!
Hello Aria
Hello:)
she's hot🔥
You really must watch the Original How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Its a 1960s cartoon. Thats what this movie is based on. Somehow this movie kinda ruins it for me. i guess my love was seen as the cartoon as a kid
It is not Christmas without The Grinch! His tiny heart led him to steal Christmas only to find out it came anyway! Jim Carrey was and is a iconic Grinch who was mean and nasty but had the power of redemption for he does just that. This is entertainment personified!
Jim Carrey's Grinch is creepy and weird. 1966 Animated is the only REAL Grinch movie.
It is still not as good as the original
