Over crowding in prisons lead to bad conditions for prisoners that usually end up with prison riots 🤔

  • @1Mrbudgood

Prisons should be for criminals that are dangerous to society. No violent drug offense prisoners for example, should be diverted to restorative justice to repay their debt to society.

They have been holding prisoners in police stations due to over-crowding for years.
People sentenced had to wait till the next morning or until after the weekend for others to be released.

Closing 600 out of 900 police stations - great plan.

Welcome to the fulcrum of a Conservative government… people voted for this, still vote Conservative and here we are… in the belly of this shambles

Yep I agree, standard Tory policy is the invade all public services, slash budgets to “save costs” and pander to rich donors whilst they get rich and the rest of us suffer

Main stream parties won't fix this. They are all too soft for this modern era. Making sure you are PC cannot be your priority. Right now we need a tough government and that isn't labour or conservatives

When the government spends more on one prisoner than it does on a junior doctor.
£46,696 is more than many junior doctors annual salaries
    How sad is this

meantime the avg salary is £33k. half of the population is not goignt to even touch £46k in their lifetime.

Here in Denmark, we send detainees who have been sentenced to deportation after serving time, to a Balkan country and prison (can't remember which).
Good or bad, I don't know.
P.S. If they are sentenced to deportation, then it is typical, very serious violence or worse.

Well..at least there is no moulds in prison and no leaky roofs. That might be better than being homeless with no support from the council.

Even the prisons have a waiting list !! When the Tories run a country into the ground they make a damn good job of it.

Just bring back the death penalty for crimes like murder, rape, terrorism and so on, but, when found guilty dont keep them in a cell for 20 years before the sentence is carried out. Give them 12 months to find new evidence and if they cant then put them down.
This should allow there to be plenty of space in prisons and it should also cut down on the cost to taxpayers.
There shouldnt be any day release for prisoners and no early release either. The likes of tv, internet access, and other comforts should also be taken away.
A prisoner should be made to feel like a prisoner, not someone that is on vacation.
Even if this happened we would still need to deal with the corrupt police though.

Very recently, a man had been proven not guilty after 17 years in prison.

    • @CrazyWabbit
      @CrazyWabbit Рік тому +1

A shame to be sure, but, many criminals still walk our streets as free men/women because the laws are inadequate. The arrest of that man happened many years ago and even though there was evidence, it was basically brushed aside by those i mentioned in the last sentence of my statement. Its not like is is a common occurrence.@@gabrielc1989w

Why cant former Police cells in places like Norfolk and Suffolk (used to use Police cells in stations, now has dedicated Investigation Centres) be used?

I would contend that the contributory problem of re-offending could be addressed by ending prison records for those having served their time (with the obvious exception of those who've commited very serious offences). Prison records are an obstacle for those wanting a fresh future and offer no incentive for them to stay on the straight and narrow. This single action could make a radical difference.

Just send them to Botany Bay just like Britain did 200 years ago. Australia is a large empty country with close ties to the UK, I'm sure they won't mind building a prison for their former colonial overlords.
