I might sound polarized to one party, but import numbers are rising than its not a bad thing, if government is importing huge defense equipment coupled with exports than its a sign of a powerful nation, because only 2 things you import either critical technology or generic technology which you can get at cheaper price.
Think about this. Now India can fund various defence research project without any fund crunch ! Another part of the fund can also be used to purchase advanced equipments and arms for our armed forces! Thus, our country need not suffer in terms of finding funds for research and strengthening of our armed forces! Jai Bharat!
We also need an import list for our defence purchases. With each services getting individually ranked for their imports.

While the growth in export is really something to be proud off, if you put it in global currency format it is USD 2.3 Billion dollar. This is a paltry amount compared to what other major economies are exporting. Forget about top 10 exporters. Absolute number can be a tricky thing. we need to compare where we stand in comparision to emerging players likes of Turkey, South Korea, etc.
