@@bigmegas I know I am late but, Ne6+ doesn't actually win the queen because you pin your knight to your queen. So after the king moves and you take the queen, the bishop will take your queen. It will just be a trade of queens. Also your knight will be stuck on d8 and you will have to play Nxc6 and trade knights too. Your attack will be over and you will be down a bishop(which you sacrificed).

You know, ive only recently started getting back into chess. And i have to say, you are probably one of the best well presented, well spoken youtubers and i can watch you for ages and you even describe thought processes. So, Thank you.
People resign too fast a lot of times. I had a game yesterday where it looked like I was forking his king and queen so he resigned in like 2 seconds thinking his queen was lost but had either of us scanned the board a little longer would've seen that my knight doing the forking was left hanging for his bishop on the opposite side of board he could've just taken and been winning, but resigned to quickly. I almost always play out my games even when I blunder a rook or queen because you might get lucky and they blunder later or at least play for a draw/stalemate or win on time maybe
We must have played the same game because the exact same thing happened to me but sadly he saw the bishop love and took my horse. Luckily I was still able to beat him afterwards tho lmaoo
Thats how u get better. Premature resignations piss me off. I blunder a piece n keep playing till I equalize n drag them into a winning endgame for me.

Players like Hikaru wouldn't even get into this position cause they can calculate much faster, especially against weaker players who are less experienced and don't master each of the aspects of chess. I'm a fan of Gotham, don't get me wrong, but Hikaru is on a different level. The lesson in this video is "Don't get tunnel vision". It's funny cause Levy says that all the time and he still does it, like all of us. :)) If the opponent didn't resign, he would have realized that Levy has no real threat and he actually had plenty of time to see that. It looks scary and it's hard to see all the positions during the game, but if you sit on it and think, you might get something out of a game like this.

Honestly, what helps me is to relax and be calm and confident. This allows me to take sufficient time for analysis, thwarting the opponent's plans, looking for checks, forks, discoveries, strengths and weaknesses, unprotected pieces, pins etc, before moving. Developing a good attitude beforehand can prevent anger, frustration and hasty moves which lose. Even by losing we can learn and improve, and perhaps be glad for the other player since it's only a game after all and we can't always win, nor keep improving.

There was a video on Ben Finegold where he said that people that are beginners think "oh I can't go there". Then he said grandmasters think "I'll go there anyway". I realize that grandmasters will find a scheme to set that thing up that they think is favorable

You reactions were so funny - I've literally watch this one scene about 6 times and laughed each rime and I even showed it to my family members Haha

I'm embarrassed to say that Queens Gambit got me interested in getting better at Chess (it's really COVID's fault because, ordinarily, I'm not sat in front of the TV nearly as much!) I'm only coming into Chess now with a rudimentary understanding of how the pieces move and I'm *coughs** a level 600 on Chess.com and have been getting thoroughly destroyed in online games. I just want to say that I really appreciate your uploads, your insights, and the clean presentation of your material. Thank you! Needless to say, I'm happy to be a new subscriber to your channel.
I feel like all those players cheated occasionally using a chess engine, someone rated 1000 isn't going to get close to competing with a 2000 and above.

Even if that's true for a few people they're rating wouldn't jump/ or drop by a thousand points, a 350 rating change would be the max for players who are above 1000. Most people care about their rating for a number of reasons, like keeping track of your progress, etc, etc. This would only be true if you meant some people will barely try on some games or they just quickly make moves without much contemplation.
@@5thfloor584 I don't. I care about my rating on lichess, and instead use chess.com to try the crazy stuff and see where it goes. Also everyone nows at least one opening in which he/she is effectivly +800elo.
'Dont always go for material' is a very important one. It is very tempting. Also, be prepared to change your plan throughout the game, the situation can change dramatically

The reason why subbed is because every oyher video about chess either doesn't get to the point or simply makes unnecessary continous jokes. This channel is straight to the point, and serious with chess.

Yes, I've come a cropper with these pre-moves before. Tried to analyse a queen sac on daily chess once, but didn't realise I'd opened the pre-moves rather than analysis tab. Came back a few hours later to a near lost situation.

32:17 0-0-0 Bg5 Maybe a castle there would open up a dicovered attack on the queen from the rook if you move the bishop to g5 as well as a threat of check mate on e7 from the queen. This gives a forced mate in 1 if black moves the queen out of the way cause if the queen moves to c7 to defend the bishop then his sweetie is gone. In this position either his queen is lost or it's check mate. Best he can do is take a bishop or a rook.

I only resign when there is absolutely nothing I can do to even draw. Like when I have a king and a few pawns.

If u dont have in mind any attacking plan you should trade, the general rule is: if ur up material trade down and win the end game
So i think Levy told in a game not to trade couse he had a checkmate sequence using is material advantage, but the general rule is to trade
