Character Generation is some of Kiko's best work! it is always the start of some epic adventure! PS: Another piece of Kiko's mysterious lore is revealed! How Kiko met his partner! Through a game based on a D&D like game . That is heart warming!
Aside from some weapon damage type mechanics that can be inconvenient to deal with (less of an issue on normal difficulty), the game is a lot of fun. I'm pretty certain you'll have a good time with it.
I discovered your channel since I was a lad of just 13, starting with your original doom 2 playthrough and getting curious in CRPGs through your content as my parents had played a lot of them but they were too big brain for me at that time. I've since played and finished the likes of BG 1-3, NWN 1 & 2, Deus Ex and yes, Pillars of eternity! Both games are deeply cherished in my heart and I am giddy to watch you do this let's play. Good luck, Kiko!
Ooh, this brings back memories. I went for a Godlike druid but never finished my one and only playthru attempt. I'm loking forward to the game getting the Kiko treatment, and suspect It'l likely inspire me to have another go myself.
As someone who has played Baldurs Gate over and over AND PoE at least twice, I feel that there is no need to worry about not doing too well here. This game basically is the answer to the - back then - never released BGIII and does play like a Baldurs Gate. Even though the BGII LP was very - streamlined - by a Gamer that obviously knew all the spells and much of the story, I am not worried that you will get stuck in PoE a lot. It really is VERY close to those old Baldurs Gate games...
You said that your culture choices would prompt people to "comment on" for some reason. I mean, I didn't think there was anything controversial about those choices for me. Anyway, I am looking forward to this Let's Play! 😁
This wasn't the game I was expecting when you said you backed this; I backed that game and this one at the Collector's Edition level, but didn't have the computer to play it. I've also never seen an LP of this before, so it'll be nice to see how this will unfold.
I tried a couple playthroughs of this long ago but never made it through the full game. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the story as it was going along, and the music and voice acting are top notch. Definitely going to be getting some flashbacks to Critical Role's first campaign with the music and VA as this goes on.
A female Hearth Orlan from the Living Lands who made her living as a labourer? If you had gone with Rogue you'd have the exact character I first completed the game with. Same portrait too. Anyway, don't worry too much about playing 'efficiently', while it's possible to solo Paths of the Damned, that kind of thing is more for people who have a lot of experience with the game. I'd say that having fun is more important.
Hell yeah, I love the PoE games. I will say, as point of clarification because I don't think you mentioned it, that the bonuses you get from the Survival skill only apply as temporary buffs after you rest *by camping* specifically. I don't believe inn rooms count.
Are you just teasing me with games I've played yet never finished? Also this feels weird to watch one of your newer videos rather than something from ~10 years ago
Ooooh goody! I was wondering if you'd get to this since you're a fan of Icewind Dale, Balderdash Gate, e.t.c. Slightly off topic, have you had a chance to try Baldur's Gate 3? If so, think its a worthy sequel? :) Another one to consider if you don't mind being the baddy is Tyranny, not sure if you know of it?
Very worthy game to play. I am not sure if looking forward to seeing it is the right thing to say. Some very sad well written storylines to come. Still an enjoyable game to plsy
Tyranny's reasonably short as I remember it (played it a few years back without the DLC), but great fun, and replayable depending on a certain choice. Only game that springs to mind where playing 'evil' actually made sense.
Tried to play it...but kept falling asleep with all the reading had do and slow running but seemed like was good altho I only played till met wing helmet guy burning ppl willing 🤦♂️ then I kept dozing off reading makes eyes heavy 😅
I generally enjoyed PoE but ended up rushing towards the end because load times just ballooned for some reason. Later in the game each load screen was 90-120 seconds and it just wore me out. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you.
Great game but unless your a backer of the game you can not ever get 100% of all achievements since there is one called thanks for backing side note I hope we get to see you do all the storys including the expansions pls tell us you will do them and the sequel
I don't want to be a professional vibe killer or anything, but this game...what a disappointment it was! Some context: back when this game was first announced (called "Project Eternity" then), there was a real feeling among CRPG fans that the genre was going extinct, with companies like BioWare and Bethesda stripping away RPG mechanics and making their games more in line with shooters or action/adventure titles than RPGs. So when Obsidian, who were RPG veterans, came along and announced an RPG that would be a homage to Infinity Engine RPGs like Baldur's Gate, I immediately pledged $100 to their Kickstarter. But when the game came out...oof. I don't want to ramble on for too long about it, but Pillars of Eternity was just...really, REALLY boring. As in, the perfect cure for insomnia boring. It's hard to point out any one thing in particular, but everything from the writing to the quest design to the gameplay mechanics feel like it was deliberately designed to actively thwart any attempts at getting enjoyment or satisfaction out of it. "Worldbuilding" consists of an endless barrage of bone-dry lore, presented with all the passion of a landlord reading out a rental contract. And when the writing isn't dull, it's incredibly writerly and pretentious, consisting of tortured metaphors, awkward similes, and just annoyingly flowery prose that feels as though it's trying way too hard to be profound. The worst part, I think, was just how dreary, joyless, and depressing the world is. There's no levity, no warmth, nothing except an insanely po-paced parade of misery and woe. I got about as far the hearing on Animancy, I realized that I didn't care about one bit about what was happening or the fate of this miserable world, and then I never touched the game after that.
Pillars was such a disappointment of a game, especially when it first came out. It isn't near as good as old Infinity engine games and the narrative is awful. Pages of infodumping about places and cultures that you will never even interact in the game and that you can't even see on some sort of world map so you can get a general idea about the world. Then there's also the main story that's underwhelming with the exception of the very end. And class progression that obscures abilities and skills, something that older games used manuals, while here you literally need to open a wiki too see what require prerequisite to even show as an option. And all of this occupied with one of the worst attribute system makes for a constant miserable experience. One slight note on Chanters, while they sound similar to Bards, they are actually completely different. Similarly they can constantly provide minor buffs to party and debuffs to enemies, but they can do it without restriction and indefinitely, and unlike the bards they are very powerful at damage dealing or summoning extremely powerful creatures without having to rely on casts per day. In fact they are more like the wizards from the older games, nuking enemies with powerful elemental spells and wreaking havoc on enemies with infinite summons. Here wizards are kings of CC without much nuking potential.
I never saw the end of this game. I'm very excited for this series - thanks Kikoskia!

That's not how we met. It's simply a memory of time spent together.
1:55 Oh, Kiko. We've watched you play Action 52. Multiple times! We can handle this level of horrible
OH SHIT!
Kikoskia doing Pillars of Eternity!?
Oh I'm so in!

WooHoo, other games have difficulty spikes.... this one has grief spikes.
Looking forward to this LP. Good old Kiko and crpg.
This is a great game. It's also a LONG game. It's also a COMPLEX game. Get comfy everyone, this is going to take a while.
YAY!! RPG long-plays!

This should be a fun series!
My second favorite RPG ever! My actual favorite is Pillars of Eternity 2, which I hope you play afterwards! ;)
Just wanted to say this makes me happy and giddy and yaaaay!
never knew this was a BG successor well then i'm leaning back in my chair got my popcorn ready to enjoy
Take it away Kiko :)
Love this game, it was a real treat when it came out, I hope you enjoy it too!

YEAHHHH BABY!!!! WOOOOO!!! THANK YOU KIKO!!!
You said that your culture choices would prompt people to "comment on" for some reason.

Anyway, I am looking forward to this Let's Play! 😁
I was referring to characters in-game commenting on it.
I see. Carry on then.
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍

Path of the Damned sounds more dramatic than 'Very Hard'.

Obviously it's Matt Mercer voicing the narrator.
Not so. The narrator is voiced by Dave B. Mitchell.
@@Kikoskia My bad. Sounds an awful lot like Matt
Interesting stat allocation. Sounds like you are going for sort of a glass cannon build.
omg i have this for ps4!i love this game!
i tried to play this, but had no idea what to do after the tutorial.
Gauntlet for a mouse cursor +1
