      LayedBakDFR Come on man I know you should have figured out or eluded to the part with the bodies were people that he came across, men and women and for different reasons the had to be killed/hit. The part with the NASCAR I took as maybe being biracial being stuck in the middle. The scene where the white woman sees the beautiful black girl with the baby hairs and nice booty she is buying in the store. There are soooo many subliminals in this video you need to watch it a couple of times. Hope this helps.

    For me the video has 3 main subjects:
    1 - He says he is past the age of being driven by prizes like the grammy and that he is moved now by his other values
    2 - He talks about how him and other black artists fight between them and how he is no more about that because he saw that everyone has their space and that they can live together, the new generation, the middle and the OGs
    3 - He talks how black artists have to get it together and work as a "family" bacause their culture, apearences and other caracteristics are being used, copied, used as products (white girl scene and him on the market basket)and stolen by other cultures and they dont see it because they are fighting among them.
    Very nice and powerfull video imo

    Aight so here's how I understood this video:
    In the first verse, he's talkin to the new age rappers which is why he's acting in an old style by just standing and rapping. In the second half, he begins talking to the older generation and starts doing extra shit to act like the music video of a new age rapper. Pretty sure he imitated a bunch of common new age music video scenes. Ok the point is that as the middle child, hes young to the older generation which is why he acts as a new age rapper when talking to them in the second verse. The opposite applies for the first verse since he is tslking to the new generation as someone older and is carrying that personna. The end part about the face being sold is probably about people putting on fake personalities for the industry.

  • @theslushmonkey9198
    @theslushmonkey9198 3 роки тому +2

    The way I see this song (which is my favorite by far) Cole is just it the middle child. Oldest child gets all the credit and paves the way for the other brothers as a set example. Such as the rappers before him. The baby is just that the baby. Such as the new up and coming rappers complaining just about everything. Cole, being the “middle child” is the forgotten one. No one really pays attention to the middle one as they tend to be more reserved!

    The people gloating and celebrating died. With red clay which symbolizes fertile clay at their feet. Then the new generation standing/marching on red clay behind Cole in the shape of a “V”. J Cole is the Middle Child filling in the gap for the “old generation” and the “new generation”. He is welcoming in the new generation and saying as a Leader (The heads on the wall: I’ll take on Your Favorite Rapper, Body any Feature, anybody can get it) I’m gonna show the young ones how to let their talent make a statement instead of all the jewelry and whips (He denouncing the gloating culture with the dirty car covered in red/fertile mud and by him dressing down and displaying wisdom with his wealth). The end was showing us that that we shop out our culture soooo much that it’s becoming worth only $19.99. Beautifully crafted video, J Cole #ColeWorld #Dreamville

Then you notice j cole is sitting in the shopping cart the entire time in the store. Meaning he is being bought. Or maybe it more to it. Like they buying him for a feature or his talent.

Remember he was in the middle of two generations. So he witnessed the OGs back in they prime and now seeing the younger generation coming up.

    The video is basically about appropriation. The white woman at the end sees the black lady's hair, decides that she wants it for herself, and purchases her look from a shop, amongst some cheap meat, suggesting the white woman doesn't care about where the style came from or what it means, and that she treats the culture she doesn't understand carelessly.

    Pass.... Now yes i think that was a major shot at the grammys (rightfully so), the morgue was everyone at the grammys (notice how the dirt was on their shoes too? Kinda like he was saying to be humble bc we all go to the same place) and now I'm from detroit so idk how nascar is in the south but i think the nascar thing was like a jab at white people celebrating racing cars but not recognizing real talent (Grammy scene), the white lady at the end is white women paying to have a black womans features.
