Has African leaders invested in their own continent? That is the first question, you can't ask someone to love you when you don't love yourself. Meanwhile, they see the children in africa as ones that needs help and so comes the aid. What is African leaders doing for Africa with all the loans and forgiven debts? It's not difficult to develop a continent like Africa with all the endowments we have, but greed has made it severely impossible.

He was being to nice about what he was trying to get across. He should of said " when it comes to aid for Africa, it always comes with conditions. If those condition aren't met then that aid is stopped. Also the conditions of that aid is always at the detriment of the African people. Whereas the market doesn't impose anything, it's purely supply and demand. If There is a demand for a certain product, the market doesn't care where it comes from. But Investment from where? Just like "Aid", Investment may come with strings attached in one form or another. I suggest "we" stop asking (begging?) for Aid and investment, and simply _Offer_ *Trade.* Trade of finished goods (not raw materials and base resources) and intellectual services. If Trade is the REQUIREMENT, and if an African nation has a value that is wanted/needed, then "Investment becomes part of the "Trade" deal. Also, there must be a focus on two-way trading: If an African nation has a valuable resource like copper for example, and *needs* technical training, then the negotiation would be a direct trade for the copper AND the mining/refining facilities to extract and refine the copper in exchange for - NOT for currency - but for an agreement that the trading partner will facilitate training expert services.
This is the new world commerce equation. Iran just traded oil to China in direct exchange for a new airport! No currency changes hands. Iran trades $2 Billon worth of oil, and China builds $2 Billion worth of airport.

To be respected Africa need to value her worth by relying on the productivity of its people. Why have they been kickin our butts for centuries? Knowledge and application of it thereof to build the Technology they are building today every aspect of one's economy. Our people are mentally bankrupt to the point when mzungu was chase off the land by Mugabe most of our people didn't know how to manage the lands and if you disagree here is another fact- there are over 60% of arable lands in Africa that are not developed. Why ? Lack of knowledge to innovate and that leads to underdevelopment.
