Morning Flightchops , just an other back to back viewer having watched Steveo and your video. Thanks for your great production skills. Totally love all your work and how you make sure others get something out of what you are doing this time your wife and last week Paul. Your professional attitude towards flying shines through every week.
I can only add onto Greg's perceptive review my agreement and say he hit the salient points. I've not been up in over a decade and these videos of yours do put a smile on my face. You used an acronym for something one of the planes had that I didn't understand. Was it the rod rigging? or ailerons? The majority of my time was in a Piper Tomahawk. It occurred to me that there will be a lot of planes for you to fly.
Even though this is not a commercial, there is really great capability content for anybody who is in the market.....I'd be sold! As usual Steve, really great content and lovely to see Jill enjoying the ride!
Congrats on 100k Subscribers Mr Chops! This video was awesome! I definitely have to check out Cub Crafters at Oshkosh this year. That XCub is amazing! It will be the first airplane in my hanger to fly around the Bahamas.
I really love the pride and quiet confidence of Randy Lervold. He looks like the perfect instructor! This clip really makes me want to go out and try one of these cubs :):)
Steve, an authentic and original person, who is becoming a UA-cam legacy for aviation enthusiasts. I have always dreamed of becoming a pilot, couldn't afford it. You make it look inexpensive, which hurts the most. God bless you.
My son spent 3 years working for Boeing in Everett Washington. He hated living over there. So he quit his job and moved back to central Washington. He got a job working for Cub Crafters and LOVES IT! That’s how I stumbled upon your channel. To be h,I subscribed because you have chops! I rocked the chops for quite a while! Great content! Keep it up! Peace!
Just about to finish my tail endorsement training in a 1978 Super Cub with a 180hp STC. Man those look like some fantastic airplanes! I love the flap, trim, and toe brake improvements!
Oh man. We are deep into the bush stuff now baby. MY FAV. Thanks for this content Steve...this is some of the coolest flying that not a whole lot of people even know is possible.
Tailwheel, cubs..............luv em!! Float flying is the way to go imo . In and out of my favorite fishing hole hundreds of times and still wanna go back. Watch you videos and enjoy them esp this kind of stuff..tnx, fly safe!
Lot of fun Chops. Three similar aircraft, boom-boom-boom. I spent several summers in that area, but never saw the valley from that angle. 100K and climbing.
I always loved flying with an instructor. It's fun flying with someone that understands aviation. Those flights usually have great converations. Most of my passengers have no idea what's going on but generally have giant smiles. Even if I get to play the game of "100 of the exact same questions" everytime I have a new passenger, it's totally worth it. Fire away with the questions
Great video. I trained at CWU in Ellensburg, WA and I'm very familiar with that wind. It's a great training experience to land a 152 in 290/30G42. An ATP now, I look back fondly and with great respect on the hours I trained in Central Washington. Great job! For anyone training and watching these videos, pay attention, this is the cheapest ground instruction on basic flying skills you'll ever get.
I know I'll love my RV-8 when it's done... but I would also love to own, or at least fly, a CubCrafters aircraft. Winged excellence. The river following brought back strong memories... used to do that low and slow over the Sacramento River south of Redding in a Super Cub. As always, thanks for the inspiration... and can't wait to see the landings video!
I flew the EC-145 at the Yakima training center for 3.5 years and this video makes me miss home terribly!!! Also makes me want to get an X Cub! Looks like it's time to start saving. Great video!
Awesome thanks! Part 2 of this series is available now! Have a look at the latest uploads - the title is: "My Hardest Crosswind Landing: Flying 3 CubCrafters With The Pilot Who Knows Them Best - Flight VLOG" As of early July 2017, it is still the most recent video.
I think when I can I would like the X Cub. I have limited time in a taildragger, I have never flown a Cub before just the Aeronca Champ. and the Decathlon. I love the tandem seating because I like to see equally out of both sides of the airplane. After watching this video on the Cubcrafters and the little research I have done on them. I think the capabilities of the X cub is right what I want, but I would be happy with any of them. Thanks for this one.
Top quality video sir! Love these, as the tail wheels and bush flying is what interests me most. Looking forward to part 2, and congrats on the big one hundred K !
I loved Jill's reaction. Great job on editing the three different Cubs. Fun video to watch and it made me want to go out and fly one of these. I've got to get that tailwheel endorsement someday.
+Mark Oda - thanks! I spent many nights wondering about how I was going to edit this one as I drifted off to sleep. I am happy with how it ultimately came together.
I soloed at 16 and have been flying ever since 1968 and never soloed a taildragger. It's in the top 3 in my bucket list to get a conventional gear rating. I'd love to fly a Carbon Cub. I know the guy who taught Harrison Ford in N.J. His flight school is a half hour flight from home base and I haven't taken advantage of this yet. After watching these videos by FlightChops it's time.
Flight Chops. GoPros are good but you might consider using a dash cam where there is protection from weather. I use one all the time for road surveying, often mounted on a selfie stick and using on rough roads sitting on the back of a motorbike. The suction works fine too if you have a handy smooth surface. It will run all day (or more actually) on a medium sized power pack before a recharge is necessary and a 64 Gbyte card will run all day too. The mike is good enough. I find it much more useful than the GoPro as the GPS coords and time are logged continuously on the output files making synchronisation with other things such as waypoints logged in the field easy as all times are GPS locked. And of course - Thanks for the videos. Always informative and interesting even to a non-pilot like myself. Keep 'em comin'
Wish I had known when you were in my neck of the woods to meet you in person. Glad you had a chance to enjoy our Valley... I love flying around Yakima.
Awesome! Give me a heads up, Steve, and we will have you over at our home for a Colombian meal (I am originally from Bogotá). In the mean time, keep it up... your videos are practical and fun to watch. Gus (Gustavo)
I just stumbled on your video.. but I'm glad I did, what a smashing you obviously had! Your wife was delightful too and seemed genuinely impressed and had fun.. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Best wishes. I'm subbed !!
Great video. I've always had a soft spot for Super Cubs since I got my float rating in one...but those Carbon Cubs are SICK. If you're ever in SoCal, I'd love to take you for a ride in my Tiger.
Great video...truly have enjoyed watching your videos. Maybe sometime if your interested, you might wish to do an Altitude Chamber Ride in the future, with a rapid depress at the end. Working on getting this set up with a good friend along with a trip to Houston Center to tour the magic that happens there. Cheers
I flew a Challenger ultralight in 35-40mph winds...basically lifted off the ground with no ground roll and required a tremendous amount of flaperon input. Landing safely in those conditions required a little head speed. So normal approach is 45ish and on this one I maintained about 65-70 until I crossed the numbers. Taxing was the tricky part !
Yesterday I drove past McAllisters where I learned to fly and noticed a Cub Crafters sign. Today I watch this and realize this is where you were! I’m going to stop by today for a look see and tour.
Awesome aircraft, I did all Comercial Pilot on AB11, it look like the cub but those carbon cubs are a dream becoming reality. Thanks for this video man, I have no words to describe my felling hahaha
Just stumbled upon your channel and got sucked in. Yakima really is such a great spot for the Cub. So fun to see some local flying landmarks pop up. I can't be more excited to poke through your amazing content and get further inspired to seek further instruction. Can hardly wait now for my universities bush flying course in the spring. #BoseA20
Absolutely Awesome Video! I know it isn't a commercial for the manufacturer, but it certainly could be a great sales tool... it sure makes me want AT LEAST one of them!
Forgive me if you've been here already dude, but I'd love to see you do something with the PC-12... I've only just found out about this plane and it looks amazing! I'd love to get your insight on take off and landing space, how it feels up high, the cosyness in the back...all of it! I've seen a few vids from the Locher airfield which are beautiful and scary at the same time...
Windy in eastern Washington? NAH! :P Yeah if it isn't blowing around here, wait 5 minutes. I need to get up there a take a ride myself. I live about a hour from there.
"what do you think the second button is for? Um, missiles?" LMAO! I love your humour. Awesome vid, and excellent editting job. I couldnt believe the quickness of that first takeoff roll! Very nice.
+smallpaul is small - thanks - and WHAT? The website was down? I just checked and it is up now, but this comment was from the first few hours this video was live - did we crash it?! :P. We did get a pretty good number of views over the first few hours.

+Greg1976NZ - friendly feedback appreciated! And yes, it is really fun to share flying experiences!
I did the same thing. just watched Steveos and now Chops. good vids

I really love the pride and quiet confidence of Randy Lervold. He looks like the perfect instructor! This clip really makes me want to go out and try one of these cubs :):)
Just watched the Steveo/Tucker flight and now this back to back. I'm at an office desk on a laptop. Soooooo not fair!!!!
+TomorrowSystems :)

Welcome to the channel! And thanks!
I served as the engineering manager at CubCrafters from 2006 until 2008. A great place to work and great airplanes!

+Tracomaster - thanks! The flying community has been a huge part of this project!
Being from Yakima, it was so awesome to see you do a video with CubCrafters! I hope you come back and congrats on 100k!!!
Glad you were able to visit Central Washington! We're lucky to have CubCrafters around. Their airplanes and people are amazing.
Amazing trio of planes. Was great to see your better half having so much fun, too!
Thanks! and yes, Jill had a great time. She got to fly for a bit as well, but this video was too long as it was so I didn't include that bit.
I'm a bit late, but I didn't expect to see you here :D
Oh man I really love those Piper Cubs... beatiful and georgeous desing..!!
I know I'll love my RV-8 when it's done... but I would also love to own, or at least fly, a CubCrafters aircraft. Winged excellence. WOOT for Yakima/Inland Northwest area! I do a lot of work in the Yakima area and it awesome to see it in the video. :)
I flew the EC-145 at the Yakima training center for 3.5 years and this video makes me miss home terribly!!! Also makes me want to get an X Cub! Looks like it's time to start saving. Great video!

I'm sooo envious.
always wanted to fly...
Great. It's good to see some more video of the Carbon Cub X. What a fantastic plane.
That’s super cool that you are in Yakima I live here and take my flight training at one of the companies on that airport

Cool Video, We met at Oshkosh last year I had my Carbon Cub at the ultralight field for the competition.
+Jason Sneed - and I probably made it clear that I envied you :)

Awesome! Give me a heads up, Steve, and we will have you over at our home for a Colombian meal (I am originally from Bogotá). In the mean time, keep it up... your videos are practical and fun to watch. Gus (Gustavo)
Looks like a lot more fun than camping in the snow!
Very awesome job, great watch. Glad to see your wife had a lot of fun...
What a mega video - enjoyed it - I do my taildragger conversion in a CUB next month - really looking forward to it. Paul

Looking forward for the new video on landing these beauties, specially the X Cub..!!!
Tremendous video. Great visual. I live in Yakima and that made it even better thank you
how do you visually inspect the rods inside the struct? is there viewing panels that open on the joints or does it need taken apart?
yakima washington? damn if only I knew you were here, I would've totally wanted to meet you
+RogueSquadronWeapons - thanks! We were in and out for a fairly intense weekend - I will be back.

+FlightChops What was the date of these flights? That's my plane at 6:44 (Horizon Airlines Q400) and I am in and out of Yakima a lot...
Great video. I've always had a soft spot for Super Cubs since I got my float rating in one...but those Carbon Cubs are SICK.
If you're ever in SoCal, I'd love to take you for a ride in my Tiger.
Another great video! I'm usually not a taildragger fan but those look like a bit of fun.
Great video...truly have enjoyed watching your videos. Maybe sometime if your interested, you might wish to do an Altitude Chamber Ride in the future, with a rapid depress at the end. Working on getting this set up with a good friend along with a trip to Houston Center to tour the magic that happens there. Cheers
Wow my first time meeting a cub. Darn they look impressive and cool. Cheers chops and Cub.
Looks fun...always wanted to get into the air..havent made it yet tho.
love the flow of your video. I'm definitely subscribing. I can't wait to see you and your cub.
+Jerry Bradford - thanks! And welcome to the channel! Enjoy the 100+ back catalog episodes!

You and Steveo just uploaded 2 great videos sharing awesome things of aviation. Great photography and editing as well. Nicely done
It was awesome to see your wife have such a good time. I loved her "this is AMAZZZZING!"

As a old/ole taildragger pilot I really enjoyed this video. Looking forward to the landings....
man, such docile aircraft. thanks for sharing Chops!
welcome to the Pacific Northwest. I'm in Spokane and didn't even know about this place! Thanks
+Brian Morcom - thanks!
Absolutely Awesome Video! I know it isn't a commercial for the manufacturer, but it certainly could be a great sales tool... it sure makes me want AT LEAST one of them!
Excellent! Glad you saw it that way! It was my goal to make a legit and authentic video about experiencing some cool planes.
Another wonderful inspirational VLOG! Thank you!
Beautiful looking planes.
Thanks for that Video man. I was praying for another SuperCub video and now this. Awesome! Thanks Steve
+ButcH - cool yeah! And more Super Cub videos are coming :)

Awesome video once again! Loved that cockpit of the SS. Also you nailed that intro lol.
Nice set of test flights. A surprise to find Carbon Cubs so close to my neighborhood out side Seattle. Props and Chops to you. Ah? ~your neighbor
Windy in eastern Washington? NAH! :P Yeah if it isn't blowing around here, wait 5 minutes. I need to get up there a take a ride myself. I live about a hour from there.
I like flying over there, even ATC is way more relaxed. West side is all squished between the class B, mountains, and overcast.
very informative thank you never flown a cub always cessnas152's or a Skyhawk on occation
+W.A.B mobile entertainment - cool yes, happy to share the other sides of aviation!
I was just at KYKM last week for an airport tour! Damn shame I couldnt go in there with you...
Oh, man. Your job. Wow. And there really couldn't be a better guy to do it. Thanks, brutha Steve.
+WendelltheSongwriter thanks! And do we share the same last name? I think you commented somewhere else that you are also a mr. Thorne?
FlightChops yes, I am. I sent you email we discussed, re: foreglight.
thanks, Steve!
What fun!
I liked the editing as usual. These planes are a hoot!
+Alex Feldstein - thanks Alex
One wonder if there would be a chance to see this exactly type of full test on a Velosity flying wing aircraft!! "My dream plane.. "
"what do you think the second button is for? Um, missiles?" LMAO! I love your humour. Awesome vid, and excellent editting job. I couldnt believe the quickness of that first takeoff roll! Very nice.
Very cool and informative. Thanks.
This video was win win win. Free advertisement for them, super fun day for you and a great video for us. It's a shame their website seems to be down.
+smallpaul is small - thanks - and WHAT? The website was down? I just checked and it is up now, but this comment was from the first few hours this video was live - did we crash it?! :P. We did get a pretty good number of views over the first few hours.
Great video. Brilliant production quality. Tasteful application of music as always. Keep up the great work.
+dvatp - feedback appreciated!
Loved this video! congrats on your 100k! you deserve it
+Jeremy Fonseca - thanks!
Super informative and fun too. Nice work!
+Scott Marshall - thanks!
Thank you for your videos!
Hey there Flightchops. Great video, I would so love to own one of those Cubs!
Say, what did happen to the old super cub at Burlington? Last time I heard about it they were still rebuilding the engine after the prop strike.
+Nathan Chetram - finally rebuilt over the winter and test flight scheduled for next week!
Alright, looking forward to seeing that!
Your legs really get in on the aileron action too!
+Tony Wall - totally :)

Great production work and entertaining video!
WOW. Lucky guy's, I think your wife is finally in love with a Cub
Thanks for the experience
God those planes are gorgeous.
Man, I wouldn't even care if it was an add. This is just a cool video. Great job!
+Jay Carr I really appreciate that feedback!
What is the colour in RAL (the blue one) (0:39) ?????
love your videos bro keep them coming
he mate! question with sport planes does a v8 over qualify for to much horespower! I want to build a sport plane similar to what your flying but want to put a v8 in it with a 4blade prop
your so lucky! that is one of my airplanes I love the most, I hope one day to own one.....
Very cool Cub! Great video!
Man, I always thought I wanted a classic Cub, but these... they look alright :).
I really want to do my tailwheel! You're an inspiration...and what sweet ass cubs!
lol how much do these bad boys cost? my grandpa used to fly these for the forest service back in the 70s...I need something to save up for after I graduate college
Damn, what a cool video. Neat concept of such direct comparison between the planes.
