I Y. S. Chowdary from Hyderabad india. My father got me Renault ondine 1961/62 model in the year 1978 for going to junior college but when moved on to engineering college he sold it off since I was spending too much of time by not concentrating on studies. With great difficulty I could able to get a pair of Dauphine s in india but not able to restore properly hence I request whether any of you can guide me.
My first car was a Renault Dauphine! Unfortunately it was in such a bad mechanical condition that I was not able to enjoy it (overheating engine & other issues). There was no knowledgeable mechanics in my town and I was naive and knew nothing about auto mechanics, so I had to get rid of it after a short period. It was stolen but recovered a few days later. I miss it and wish I knew then what I know now about cars so I would have had it in good running condition for minimal effort.
Don't feel bad.....they were actually crappy cars .....not up to durability American car buyers expected....I worked on them, severely underpowered for US roads.....VW was much more durable and dependable for about same money......not many around cause they NEVER sold many here.
@@danobrien5154 They weren't. You americans though it was some sort of tuff Chevy Biscayne. Even with a thrown rod thru the engine block this car could still travel, my dad just put a rag inside the hole and kept driving home lol. Also they werent underpowered, it's a light car with a 850cc engine. With little mods this thing would go faster than 130kph. I owned these cars almost all my life, they are pretty undestructible if it werent for the rust lol. The Gordini/Dauphine is a great car.
They were crappy cars....the world wide opinions are the same....even in their magazine ads usually had 5 mechanics standing near them....they were cute but crap....WAY under powered....maybe not compared to a bike....two of us use to lift the engines out....could rebuild one in about 20 minutes we did it so often.....We use to say Tonka Toys were better built.
I bought mine new in January of 1965 for $1500 .uncle Sam call me not the Army 4 months later. On my Privates pay , I could make the car payment, of $40 a month.
Such a timeless car and a friendly face!
Excelente comentario sobre el citroen 3 cv y el ami 8. Felicitaciones.
i used to own one 1963 dauphine Gordini. It was a great car.
Would love to have this car ! I had a '57 and a '62 Dauphine and enjoyed them both a great deal !
My first car back in 65. In dark blue. Cost £50 and I had to spend £80 to keep it going. I seem to remember it had a starting handle for emergencies.

Maşallah, a car like a frog. But cute.
Vc sabe quem tem um a venda
Stock Dauphine has a rousing 28 hp O- 60 by sundial! Dawn to dusk!
Que maquina
I think it was better than the VW Beetle that time. The R, was 4 doors!
Creo que era mejor que el VW escarabajo de esa época. El R, tenia 4 puertas!
It was quite spacy and easy to get into the backseat.
تحفه ❤
Renault should make these again with a few modern upgrades, they would sell !
Renault Dauphine/Gordini the most weakness bodywork in the world..
