When Just One F-22 Fought Five F-15 Eagles

- In March 2003, the American Air Force was done with all the F-22 haters, who were repeatedly saying that the F-15 Eagle was sufficient enough to grant the US aerial victories in the skies of the 21st century! The USAF decided to deploy five F-15 Eagles with aviators who themselves were experienced F-22 pilots against just one F-22, so what happened next? When all six jets landed after a fight, all the F-22 Raptor haters were speechless! Despite the F-15 Eagles giving it their all, the F-22 Raptor shot down each and every one of them.

The F-22 pilot was Tom Cruise. nuff said.
Heck 😅😂😂
Haha
Uhhhh. He didn’t fly an f22 in the movie

Breathe a sigh of relief that starscream isn't coming for me
Or that he wants to get a good look at your face before he shoots you. Just give you a little scare, ya know? 😂
Unless you're being spared like the f4 pilot that was told "You really oughta go home" without the F4 pilot even knowing the Raptor was there prior to being hailed.
I talked with one of those F-15 jocks about that one day, and in a nutshell, he said “Thank God they’re ours.”
Considering it wasn't the firs training exercise he should have shut up when the F-15 scored 1 kill out of 43 engagements and was shot down by the F-22 the other 42 times.
Fact is any aircraft can be shot down but the F-22 has a much better chance of shooting down whatever it's up against before it can shoot the F-22 down. This 5 v 1 proved nothing the rest of the Air Force didn't already know from previous training exercises.
@KarKenon Actually the F-22 isn't cheaper to produce. Because at this point producing more F-22s requires converting entire assembly lines and manufacturing all of the parts.
Remember the US stopped manufacturing F-22s at 195 (8 test and 187 production aircraft).
The US still produced 525 F-15E's and the Air Force has considered building 200 F-15EX's .
Now counting all models of the F-15 would be a total of 1,198 built. Operators include the US, Israel, Japan, and Saudi Arabia .
So the F-15 is still in production. Unlike the F-22 which was all but replaced by the F-35. And will most likely be replaced by the NGAD fighter they are working on. With its only real air to air kills being a balloon.
And yes I know the reasons no one wants to tango with the F-22 Raptor. But at the end of the day the F-22s replaced is in the works. Meanwhile the F-15 is still going to be flying. I guess a real world combat record of 1 balloon to 0 isn't shit compared to 104 downed enemy aircraft to 0 times shot down. Including that time, an F-15 took out a Mi24 Hind helicopter with a 2,000lb laser guided bomb in the air.
Yeah the F-22 is supposed to be retired in 2030. The F-15EX will still be flying. As will the older F15E's granted the older F15E's won't be flown by the US. But they will still be flying.
@@KarKenonthe mustanf and corsair fighters are even cheaper to maintain, sjould we switch back to those?
@KarKenon Producing the F-15s would be quicker than the F-22s . Because the company that makes the F-15s never stopped making them or their parts.
So in either case your wrong.
Now you already explained the reason your wrong in your own statement.
The Procurement of the F-22 Raptors was canceled at 195. 8 of which were used in testing , 187 of them entered service. Currently the USAF has 186 of them. With no new production planned. The assembly lines that were used to make the F-22 are now used to produce the F-35.
@KarKenon Quantity over Quality guy eh? So do you also like Imperial doctrine of using swarm tactics with cheap expandable craft like the TIE/ln space superiority starfighters?
The crazy thing is that the f-15 has a perfect combat record👀
And the F-22 is what they build after 30 years of experience with the F-15
I mean technically so does the F22.
That just says a lot about the fine pilots they train
@@RRtradestar Given that most of the F-15's combat kills have been made by Israeli pilots, rather than Americans, it says quite a bit about the plane itself, since we know that it's been successful for *everyone* who's flown it, not just for the people who made it.

They quit building them because they were too expensive 😢. only a few hundred were made. @@bassboss1234 The issue with cancelling production early is that it drives per unit cost up. Had they kept manufacturing Raptors they would have been nearly the same price as the F-35’s today.
The F-35 is NOT an air superiority fighter. While it is capable, the Raptor exceeds its abilities. It has superior kinematics including astronomically better top speed, and supercruise ability, both of which make it a much better BVR fighter. In close it is much more maneuverable, being a better dog fighter in all aspects. So no, the F-35 does not do everything the Raptor can do.
@@Mobius118 I never said it could, I said the F-35 is multi role which is more what the US wants. You don’t really need to have a superior speed and maneuverability if your missiles and radar can track and hit a target 20 miles away. the f22 cant attack ground targets as sufficiently as the F35 can. The f-35 is also aircraft carrier capable which is big when operating in enemy territory because it’s not a stationary target that can be captured/ destroyed easily. like I said in the first place, the US wants a Do all plane, not 20 specialized aircraft
@@bassboss1234 - The F-35 has been a bit of a disappointment TBH. It's definitely not *bad* but it's not nearly all it was cracked up to be while also going way over budget. The USAF has always had a minimum 2-tier system of aircraft. It would have been better, IMO, to build out the full fleet of F22s and made the F35 a multi-role for everything except air superiority. That would neatly replace the F15 and F16 on the ground, and the F35 could also (mostly) replace the F18 in the Navy. Just my opinion...
It's clear : the F-22 pilot is the main character....
Bruh, the F-22 is so good the five other pilots could be the main cast and the F-22 pilot the bad guy's lackey and it'd still win.

BVRs exist
F35
It is a great plane, but drones will get them. 100% guarantee, and soon!
Whatever an F22 can do, it’s smaller and much cheaper unmanned stealth drone can do it way better.
Therefore the F 35 is a total waste of money.
I’m really curious as to why you think drones will fully replace planes and the F-35 is a waste. Drone’s are certainly effective, but they fulfill a different purpose than planes do from what I’ve seen and understand. Not opposed to them being more prominent, but I don’t think their existence invalidates the F-35
@@zeroth88 Whatever the the 6th gen air superiority platform ends up being, it's very likely to be a drone. At this point of technological progression, the pilot is the limiting factor in the F22, and drones that can do what an F22 can without needing to have a pilot inside of them will win engagements against manned fighters, in much the way a missile typically wins versus the maneuverability of a plane.
But that doesn't mean manned stealth fighters will go obsolete, by any stretch. Having, "boots in the sky," so to speak, offers a significant advantage to situational awareness and critical response time in actual operational zones.
Very likely we will see the F35 continue to be used as a "strike-spotter" platform and act as the manned guide for unmanned air superiority fighters, taking advantage of the in-the-moment problem solving capabilities that a human brings to the table, as well as the fact that a major role of the F35 in the first place is simply to be an invisible aerial sensor suite. Sure it carries weapons, but in real world combat the most useful aspect of the F35 is the ability to get a very close look at what your enemies are doing without them being able to do anything about it.
Being able to accurately call the shots is far more important than being specifically in the vehicle that's making them, and this is theorized to be how the F35 is intended to be used in real combat anyway. It's not designed to excel at dogfights the way the F22 is, so instead they'll likely operate in wolfpacks, and send one plane ahead of the group to scout targets. Using sensor fusion, the person who acquires the target can then call for strikes from the other fighters in the group, (even if they're too far away to get a solid lock themselves,) limiting its own exposure and even curtailing some of the risks of making a BVR attack by having someone who's close enough to actually see the target.
It's a very different mindset than what the F22 does, and the F35 is by no means a direct replacement for the F22. By extension, while it makes sense that drones eventually _will_ replace the F22, they don't make sense to replace the F35, as its use case has different requirements that rely on more actual decision making from the pilot.

Yes, but also, one of Raptor's main strengths was/is its maneuverability, which arguably isn't as important to today's mission as much as its stealth is. Hmmm...let's see...Democratic Party presidents don't have much of a good record, with keeping or maintaining the U.S. military, in good shape. Ronald Reagan did a great job, making our military strong, and so did Dwight D. Eisenhower, both Republicans. Meanwhile, Truman weakened our military, and got us into that mess in Korea, while JFK and then LBJ, got us into an even bigger mess, in Vietnam, all Democrats. Nixon actually had beaten the NVA, bringing them to peace talks, but when Watergate occurred (brought on by media that we didn't know then was controlled by liberals, but we know it now), Democrats took control of Congress, and took away any funding for the South Vietnamese military, as we were pulling our troops out of there. But the NVA were fully funded by the Soviet Union, and had heavy weapons, which the South Vietnamese military did not. And so we won the war, but lost the country, due to Democratic Party and liberal interference and the emasculated of a Republican president. And FDR? That Democrat nearly DESTROYED our military, from 1932 to 1940, while pursuing failed New Deal socialist policies. Only on May 28, 1940, when the British were struggling to get off the beaches of a vanquished France at Dunkirk, did he call upon the greatest American Republican capitalist of the time, to place him in charge of all weapons production in the U.S. FDR went against the advice of all of his advisors, and even his own wife, and appointed William Knudsen, an avowed Republican who had made G.M. the #1 industrial corporation in the world, at the time. And this great unknown American hero proceeded to BURY all of our enemies in WWII, by leading a massive profit-driven production of aircraft, ships, tanks, guns, and all other weapons, supplies and equipment, enabling us to win that war. If only another dumb-ass Democrat like Joe Biden, would ask for help in his failing administration, from another great Republican businessman, like FDR did, maybe this country would get better, and our military would get strong, again. But, dumb Joe keeps on ignoring the excellent policies of Donald J. Trump, instead of following them--and so everything keeps getting f'd up, in this country. Our enemies abroad are practically laughing at us, now--because Democratic presidents have a policy of weakening our military, in favor of their "social" policies and programs--or just running away, like in Afghanistan. No War in Ukraine started under our last Republican president, because he kept our military strong--and wasn't afraid to use it. Democrats just have a bad history, weakening our military...
How about that ole Kennedy feller?
Who is forced into a dogfight has already lost the encounter
What about rules of engagement require visual confirmation. That can often be the case.
Not in a b52 the buff lives forever
It's all great to win an exercise, but when in war, readiness is everything.
Also forgot to mention, the eagles were piloted by senior raptor (former eagle) pilots, meaning the eagles were piloted by the best of the best. Meanwhile the raptors were piloted by fairly newer pilots with only a few years under their belt (fact check me for the raptor pilots)
F-15's win a in "Dog fight" F-22 wins from striking before that dog fight occurs...
Don’t bring a potato masher to a gun fight
Or don't bring a 20mm canon to a long range missile fight!
Maverick: "It's not the plane. It's the pilot."
That's only true to a certain extent. Pretty sure that Maverick wouldn't stand a chance against an F22 if he was flying a Spitfire.
If the Generation is the same. Of the plane - not the pilot.
Knowing his routine a well trained rookie will be able to pull this off in a F22 against 5 Eagle Veterans - just because of the plane.
It was Rooster who said that, Maverick knew that 4th gen or 4.5 gen like the Block III Super Hornets will never beat a Raptor in any engagement.
In the movie he pretty much had every advantage. His IFF was sending friendly signals to the SU-57s, he had the initiative, he was at point blank visual range, SU-57s are pretty shit when it comes to 5th gen aircraft, and likely has trained for years playing the role of aggressor against the US' own 5th gen aircraft.
The F 15 pilots were all experienced senior pilots who had been promoted from the F 15 to the F 22. So those pilots knew all the tricks of both planes.
In this particular case, it was the plane.
This is how to shut up the haters
Sorry to ruin your day but it is fake🫤

Having been one of the folks that put the 14 to bed, and have been in the flight line with both tobcats and raptors, watching the sun go down every day, I can say I'd never put a 14 against a 22.

Winning a fight with an F-22 (or J-20, or F-35, or FC-31, or probably even Su-57 or Su-75) is like winning a fight with a camouflaged sniper. It helps to be able to know you're even in a fight with a camouflaged sniper.
Haters: “F15 is the best fighter and needs no improvement.”
F22: “Hold my beer”
What usually handicaps fighters like the F-22 is the rules of engagement. If visual identification is required, it can severely expose planes like the Raptor.
Which is the opposite of what happened here, they put five eagles in the air and told them to just fly straight and level until they were “destroyed” by a phantom they couldn’t see from beyond visual range. They weren’t even given the luxury of smoke in the air and maybe the chance of using countermeasures. This was a simulated “just fly until we tell you you’re dead” situation
Can you even begin to imagine what ROE's the current puppet in the whitehouse basement can come up with to keep his clients happy?
@Matt-yg8ub the video said that the Eagkes "used every strategy...plus what they could to save themselves"...
@@boddaboom77 With respect, the video is wrong. Red flag exercises like this are intended to prove a point, they’re pretty much scripted with an already predetermined outcome. This wasn’t news to anybody, this was the outcome they wanted and Designed the “experiment” to achieve.
How do you figure my man? The raptor can get close enough for visual confirmation and never be seen by an enemie aircraft.
What a beast! F22 is the ghost sniper in the air.
I know that the f-15 cant keep up with the 5th gen stealth fighters but the f-15 is still a badass jet and it looks better than any other jet, when most people think about a fighter jet they usually picture the f-15 just because its so fucking iconic
You got that right! I was at an F-4 base overseas way back when, and those are pretty iconic, too. When first released, they sent the first F-15s to show the flag around the world in Bicentennial livery. They came to our base and man! Those were beautiful birds!
Yes they are nice, but my favorite is the Navy Tomcat F-14. When it is tied down on the Flightdeck and you are looking straight at the nose, the Jet looks like an Eagle (not the F-15) but a real Eagle.....

Wtf happened to f15 pilots
Exactly. That’s like putting a Formula One driver in a NASCAR and acting like that makes it “ more fairer” When the Formula One smokes them in the straightaway.
To pilot the F-22 you have to be the upper echelon of F-15 pilots. It's basically a promotion.
You think they just put random folks into the F-22 cockpit? I swear it's like no one ever taught y'all how to use your brain for any type of critical thinking whatsoever.
I am proud to say that I was one of the assemblers of these Magnificent Aircraft and Weapons!
F-22 RAPTOR IS THE UNDISPUTED GOAT 🔥 PERIOD
There’s no silver medal in a dogfight. End of story…
If the F15s never saw the F22 then don't call it a dogfight
Exactly! What a complete nonsense. Dogfight 🤡🤡🤡
yeah, that’s a slaughter.
That's the modern dogfight. Over-the-horizon kills. However, the 22 is ridiculously maneuverable AND has a gun, so those good, old fashioned, "chase them around" close-in classic dogfights are doable.
If we did dogfights the way you want us to do them, we’d still be flying P51’s.
The F22 does get used in dogfights during training though. (Like, starting at close range and putting radar reflectors on the F22 and everything. F22 pilots get trained to fight at close range even if it's unlikely one of those fights would ever happen like that in real life.)
The F15 doesn't come close. (Remember that the F15 was designed before the concept of supermaneuverability even existed, and the first testbed prototype _for_ the concept was an improved F15 with canards and thrust vectoring, and the lessons learned from that were then employed in designing the F22. From the ground up the F22 was designed to be better at dogfighting than the F15 because it is capable of doing things that are _impossible_ for the standard model of F15.) The only things in the US arsenal that do, apparently, are F16s flying fully clean and starting at altitude so that they can trade it for maneuverability until they get to the ground, (at which point the F22 simply out-powers it, regains the altitude faster, and wins.)
And our government has ideas of replacing them all due to maintenance costs?
Again, the cost of a superior defense has and will continue to be high, history has shown this.
Pick any century and work yourself all the way through the present time.
Maybe if our current administration cared about America as they much as they do about Ukraine, China and Immigrants from south America we wouldn't be worried about this. I seen where the illegal immigrants are costing taxpayers something like 11 million a day. It's almost like this administration hates America
It’s because we have better aircraft in preproduction and testing. The less money spent repairing the Raptors the faster they go into production.
The F-15 has about a 100:0 air-to-air kill ratio.
1 F-22 can kill 5 F-15s with no counter response from the F-15s.
But, there are aircraft being tested right now that are far superior to the F-22s whose technology were developed in the 1980s.
It's government..new toys every season..
Sadly fitting saying..
Both amazing planes and beautiful too. That raptor is something else though.
Yeah they got results in the modern warship game😂
Bro thinks that USAF are childs who care abt what ppl say and try their best to prohe them wrong💀
Air superiority can be obtained with F15s because the enemy doesn‘t have F22s.
But why use f-15 they can just use f-22
Well no. The f15s can still be seen by other fighters because of its sh*t rcs. The f22 would need to be very close to them to be seen.
Now that’s a concept the air forces never even heard of. If it’s not the most costly aircraft on the face of the earth, they don’t want to hear about it.
@@alfr1516 the F 22 is a fantastic aircraft, but the F-15 is a legendarily good aircraft that outperforms it in several respects.
Stealth is only one aspect of combat .
@Matt-yg8ub even if it "outperforms" In some way over the f22, which would only be speed, it would still lose to other aircraft designed for modern air supiority which would be stealth
The F-23 still has air superiority. Bribery doesn't change physics.
The raptor pilot won because it was mock combat, so all he needed to do was obtain lock and maybe hold it for a few seconds. This dogfight was unfair, since the raptor has better radar and stealth capabilities.
That was the whole damn point. You expect the US to give up the advantage of superior stealth and radar because it’s “unfair?” Don’t be stupid.
I was thinking the same 😅
Blah blah blah. The f-15 is outdated and you can’t accept that a single f-22 can beat 5. Your little 104-0 aircraft isn’t relevant anymore so chill.
That's the whole point m8. It has stealth, so it's ♾️ly better.
The Eagles don’t even have the benefit of smoke in the air, and the chance to use counter measures or evade… they just get locked by a superior radar from outside their own range and destroy without ever getting a chance to engage
And now the USAF just ordered a bunch of F-15EX’s that will outlive the F-22
Yeah somebody up top wasn’t using their brain to its full capacity. The F-15 is good, but it’s not Raptor good
They are both excellent in their roles, the F-15 is a fighter. "Fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee." F-22 is it's grandson who took the lessons the F-15 learned and added stealth and extended range weapons. It's whole thing, is to strike first and leave a tiny radar blip so the enemy doesn't know what hit them.
US Air Force retired. One word, " Bull."
An F-15 Pilot got transferred to an F-22. He then took part in force on force with both planes. His comments were as follows:
"It's like putting your two favorite teams against each other, but one is entirely invisible. It's just not fair."
You don't mess with The Kid. Especially after he's had his chicken nuggets
