He definitely puts on the goofy act a bit in interviews and stuff, but I think he is just naturally like that to a degree. Round this time he was recovering from the head injury when he got punched by that guy that was friends with Shavo from SOAD, so the meds probably sedated him a bit
Troy has always been a huge inspiration to me, as a singing bassist. His tones, his riffs, everything he does fucking slaps, and all while singing (though admittedly it took him a while to really get his voice to where it is today.)
What an amazing bassist. So much groove, subtlety and thought put into his playing. Some of the most fun bass lines ever too. Its neat watching his process, especially for this album which is easily my favorite of theirs. Also what he does for the prog break in the Last Baron is so cool. Such weird timing at points and its so fucking dope.
If this happens im pretty sure the universe will collapse in on itself causing a short circuit in the time space continuum resulting in pure cosmic badassery. Sounded good in my head. Lol
It was awesome to meet you guys in Jacksonville OR...(at the VIP thing before the show) one of my all time faves!! People are still talking about how you guys killed last summer..!!! Come back to this neck o the woods!! And seeing Scott Kelly perform with you would stoke the locals around here...!!!
Easier said than done. How do you make another Crack the Skye? I think they realized it wasn't possible and that's why they deconstructed their sound a little bit, as a way to move forward. Emperor of Sound is still a complex/inventive/progressive work without sounding like CTS. I don't think there's any shame in realizing you've already peaked and you're probably not going to be able to get back there. Hell, I'm 44 years old. I'm smarter than I was when I was 30, but otherwise there's not a whole lot that I can do any better now than I could when I was younger. You just have to work with what you've got.
Troy is deffinitively in the favor of Yort! Imo he's one of the greates Bass players around! And it's nice to see, how he too mostly uses hes indexfinger for playing bass, seems it's not so wrong after all.
Troy is criminally underrated
Just cannot wait for the next album. Love Mastodon and everything they do.
It's really bizarre seeing Brent act normal.
it makes me kinda sad when i think about what would he create if he let his musical genius grow, but maybe that's the way he chose, we'll never know
That was his album. The man gave away his sanity for this one
I think a lot of it is an act. There are moments here and there in some of the recent footage where he is acting like this.
I think he just likes to have fun doing interviews, etc. I don't think he's truly crazy like a lot of people do. He's just goofing off usually.

Keep'em coming!
I really hope they go back to making albums like this.
@@hooler47pp I agree about the one time thing. But you never know
I think EOS was a shout back to this style of "concept" while also working in some of the newer song writing styles and techniques.
@@GLiC I'm sad to say it pales in comparison with Crack the Skye though.
Leonardo Mirenda and pales evem more compared to their earlies releases

I usually wind-up in my "Birthday Suit",... When I hear "Mastodon"s Music playing!!! ....."Hi honey,..... can we go to K.F.C.!"
Amazing!
they will never make another album as good as this simply because it was created out of a very unusual and rare tragic event
Loving these videos
I had no idea Mastodon had good bass until I watched this video.
Fuck yea that Riff from The Last Baron MELTS
Troy and Kyle Sanders are both outstanding bassists.
Who remembers Bloodsimple?
so Troy has a Queequeg kind of worship to his bass?
Lap Duy Nguyen Thien nice reference sir 👌

We need Yort merch
💜💜💜💜💜💜
I wish the bass the more audible on Crack the Skye like it is on Emperor of Sand.
Did that Hagstrom wind up on any of the tracks?
Anyone else notice that head statue thing blinking at 5:20?
Yeah
Long Live Yort
Praise Yört

Troy should play a stingray!!
"You don’t get on guitar magazine yknow being a shitty guitar" - Brent Hinds
How did he not talk about the 8 and 12 string basses? Anybody know if he actually used those?
I want to see them in Lord of the Rings, they are really good looking. Love this band💘💘💘💘
