I can just imagine mechanics coming to remove the ride but there is a wall of people protecting the ride from being dismantled! 😂😂😂
@@William_Does_Coasters2255 well they just spent a bunch of money refurbishing it and even added new trains in 2021, so it's not going anywhere for several years now.
Protect shockwave at six flags over texas and revolution at magic mountain as well or I will never go to these parks like I will never go to kings island or islands of adventure removing vortex and dueling dragons!
But nothing lasts forever!
@@detroitdiezel7856 They downgraded it IMO. From the length of the trains, to the more noticeable trims, and even the sign.

This ride has a seatbelt and bar, it has extra protection, ensuring you won’t fall on any parts of the ride for anyone who was scared about that.

I was wondering about that too. I rode this ride dozens of times as a kids, and as an adult in 2017, and I don't remember that stop, or know why it would be necessary.

I remember riding this ride back in the late 70's and there were no trim brakes before that final loop. Riding the back you got a serious air time coming off that hill. This is the first video I've seen where the trim brakes actually stopped the train there.

This was one of my first rollercoasters as a kid back in the 1990s. If I remember correctly, it use to be a rusty color and was just simply called "mind bender," but then after Batman Forever came out they painted it green and put the questions marks up there.
❤ the design of this ride. Built for the land it sits on and fits right into the topology! It is even more beautiful with the waterfall turned on! I hope they can keep it going beyond 2078!

It is a really fun ride! I always use it as a start up ride when I need to get used to rollar coasters again because it was the one that cracked my shell into liking roller coasters there were so many I loved and wanted to go in but I couldn’t.

That trim at 2:09 was straight up disgusting. I marathoned this ride back in 2001 and it was actually really fun. But that brake breaks my heart lol

They probably did that for a reason. I’d guess it was too intense for many visitors or it was causing too much wear on the track. If it was the latter then the change was necessary (many people, including a lot of coaster enthusiasts, don’t understand how important maintenance is). Also, if the train had more people on it then it probably wouldn’t have slowed down as much.
Rode it couple weeks ago, the trim didn't really catch on. I guess it's there as a block.
They started the trim braking long before they referbed the ride. The last time I rode this back in 2016 and it did that with the old trains. One of the reasons why that was my last visit to the park.
Those trims with the trains empty 💀

As a Mindbender enthusiast, I can confirm that it does not bend your mind, that part is a lie.
When it comes to how smooth they are, Schwarzkopf coasters often age so well. It’s very impressive :)

This was my first looping coaster, way back in the late 90's. That brake before the final loop kills a lot thrill. It used to trim the speed, then we'd flying into the final brakes.

Never got to this park before but in videos it’s a shame that this coaster runs much slower now compared to the old trains in videos
It's gimped. I'm not even saying this as a pissed off thoosie or anything, they straight up neutered it.

This was my first looping coaster as a kid in the 80's - bizarre to think of the anxiety leading up to that first ride - though I'm sure that distinctive Schwarzkopf roar on the loop was a big contributor 😆The way it follows the terrain is still thrilling and my favorite element remains that banked downward turn around the pond. That brake before the last loop is a crime 😁

SFOG didn’t have to ruin this classic Schwarzkopf coaster. As a result, the new trains valleying could mean that it was a mistake to refurbish this

I love this ride
Even after nearly 50 years its still one of the costers in America
Back in 1978 this was probably the best coaster in the world
It pauses long enough to grab a bite to eat / use the restroom then enjoy the last loop. Should of been left the same instead of retheming it.

Since when did the trim brakes slow the train so much? Haven’t been to six flags in years, but all the times I rode this, the trims had hardly any effect on speed. Seems pointless..
Before: "i don't know about this one..."
After: "LETS RIDE GOLIATH NEXT"
Through out the day I waited 3 times and all 3 of the times the ride broke down in the same day 😂

wow, used to live in GA 7 years ago and this was my sons first upside downer, looks like they ruined it w/ that refurb. Used to fly the entire time and was so fun.

I liked the original. This neutered version is a sad, watered down imitation. Perhaps one day SF can restore it to a proper coaster.
Does this always come to a dead stop before the final loop now? I've never had that happen to me, and that seems like an absolute buzzkill. I haven't ridden this ride in probably over five years.
Just rode it today. It didn't stop like that. It's never stopped like that my whole history of riding it.

I've ridden this rollercoaster ride at least 10 times.
Advertised as the only triple loop in the US back when it was first built. So much for truth in advertising. Still, it was a thrill to ride back in the day.
It IS a triple loop. What you're thinking is a triple INVERSION, big difference in the two.
@@Jake-yf9ky I get what you are saying in modern terms, but in the context of a tv commercial aired in the 1970s a roller coaster loop did not have such a nuanced meaning.

My uncle wants to take me to six flags but I haven’t really rode that mantle coasters I’ve only got into coasters the past year and my only thrill ride is twisted typhoon from wild adventures which I doubt you’ve heard of but I was wondering what are some coasters that would be really good for me because I like this one but idk if it would be to scary as in I want to know if I’d chicken out last second.
I dont know if the rides just getting old or what, i used to love this one when i was younger, but i tried riding this abt a year or two ago and it was not a good experience despite my fond memories with the ride. The majority of the ride felt the same and i was having a great time at first.. but that loop scared me.. when i went through the loop i literally started falling out through the restraint towards the top of the loop and i had to grab on, im not talking hang time.. thats a totally different thing and its not something im freaked out by even on massive coasters.. i was literally slipping through the lap bar restraint. when i got off the ride i informed the staff and they didnt shut down the ride, but we went back later in the day and they werent seating anyone in the seating row that i was in earlier in the day and they told us they took a look at it and the lap bar was apparently not locking all the way in like it should have been so it didnt go down all the way and me being super skinny wasnt properly secured. I know this could have just been a one off experience, im not blaming it on the ride or the park staff because they do a good job, but this has scared me away from ever getting on this ride again, imo theres better stuff in the park anyways, i just loved this one because it was a very early on ride for me that helped me branch out more into bigger stuff. things could have gone very wrong had i not held onto the cart for dear life. one plus side though, because of what happened, the staff gave me a pass that allowed me to use the flash pass lane 5 times on any ride except for dare devil dive so i got to skip the lines on some bigger stuff like goliath and i also got on twisted cyclone super fast using this.
I rode this coaster and when it stopped i said oh why would you do that you evil evil- *drops* MONSTERS AHHH

You can tell the coaster is a Schwarzkopf by the brakes on the side of the tracks.

I’d say it’s a good ride bht the was a part where you are in a valley and you make a INTENSE incline and it was so bad it made the person in front of me blackout and my neck to crack
I went to six flags today and this was the first roller coaster i ever rode in my life and it was horrible i hate roller coasters how yall enjoy that

This would have been amazing in 1978 but today....good for nostalgia and not much else. I love Schwarzkopf rides but this has been trim braked to death, that mid-course trim/brick wall should be illegal it robs so much momentum. Nice paint though.

I mean what was that break run b4 the second loop and all that straight away track...so much potential for inversions and trick track...
What a very odd design. I can understand the stop at the top before the sharp drop by why the stop at the end before entering the platform? Seems duplicitous.
