Hey Phuzzy, I have a question. I just started playing SoT on my laptop. How do I “type chat” in the game? I usually keep my mic turned off when the kids are asleep, but I hate having to communicate through the preset pirate radial dialogue
@@tangofett4065 If you are on keyboard and mouse the bind is T. But if you're on controller you must bind it to an unused button in the settings

@@tangofett4065 It should be in the in-game settings under controller options? I play on console so I'm not too sure how the sot pc settings differ. Have a play-around with the settings and see what you can find.
P.S. If your keyboard can still be used as an input for the game at the same time as the controller then all you'll have to do is reach over and press T. Hope this helps

As a 46 yr old PvElord, console player, with over 62+ days on the seas whom tends to avoid PvP like a plague. (SoT is my first PvPvE game) I truly appreciate your vids. Especially an honest one like this showcasing the highs, lows, mistakes, and triumphs of a PvP encounter. Gives a pvp novice, like me and my daughter (whom I sail with) encouragement to engage rather than flee. In order to learn and improve. Thanks Phuzzy!!

@@kindaoutdoorsynate5832 I agree with you. I dont care for most. I am the same, love the pve and just searching gold hoarders for treasures but I do like; Phuzzy, hitbotc and Blurbs is ok. Stay farrr away from boxyfresh if you like Phuzzys style lol. There arrr a few others but those come to mind. And of course rocket but unfortunately he gets lumped in with Phuzzy lol.

I played Sea thieves when it was brand new, and quit the game before really giving it a chance. Your videos helped inspire me to come back with a whole new attitude towards the game, and I love it. Now. I'm well on my way to Pirate legend. It sucks being a solo slooper, but your guides have given me the chance to succeed.
I’m a pirate legend, I have put a good time in the sea and I’m decent at the PvP. I have sunk others and have been sunk before but oh well we win some and lose some. If you want you can hmu to help you grind to pirate legend. I play with my older brother every night in a sloop

just sank my first ship using the fort tactic.
a guy started attacking out of nowhere while i was at an outpost (thankfully already sold all my loot).
i let my boat sink, and then when i respawned i went in search of the boat that sank me.
i found him, and then baited him to start chasing me. i ditched my ship and got on the canons at the fort.
the dude sailed right into my sights. hit a couple of canonballs, then the chainshot to get the mast down, and after that some firebombs.
he climbed the tower and hit me with a blunderbuss...we both died cuz there was a gunpowder keg right next to us!
my boat didn't sink though! i've only been playing for a week and i've been binge watching your vids.

Ouch seeing all those cannonballs in the rowboat sink brought a tear to my eye.
I suck at PvP in this game, and I love how nice they are. GG’s all around, and yet all I fight are salty bums spamming “look how bad you are!” every time I lose. (Which is basically every engagement)
I used to be like you, and still mostly am but trust me when I say you will 100% get better and you will learn plenty of tricks to the point where its muscle memory. Also for the toxic crews, yeah they exist but ignore them, you'll meet plenty of good people 😃

It has been at least a year since I really learned anything new about this game in a video since I’ve been playing since day 1. I never would’ve thought to do that with the rowboat, well played.
Double gunner here
After a quick analysis, I concluded that the guy in the purple suit was using the double gun pretty badly. Unfortunately, because of your mistakes, he was able to sink you at first, but he messed up a lot. He's too focused on where the enemy (in this case you) is at one specific moment - so he doesn't take into account that the enemy might move, so it's easy to dodge. On top of that, for a double gunner he waits too long to fire a shot. As you said, he doesn't change weapons after a blunder miss, which is not a mistake, but he stays close to you during this time, which makes it a mistake.
Yes, even though he carried two guns, he always chose to reload the blunder than switch to EoR and no scope me .
@@PhuzzyBond I would use the term. "quick scope" if you mean fast firing with EOR because no-scope EOR isn't really useful, but I guess that is what you meant. Otherwise I agree.
also the pl outfit double gunner constantly went under deck on the sloop (not mid level bottom level) which is a massive mistake because bottom deck on a sloop is sword haven and also against a sword player like phuzzy he should have kept his distance even tho blunder eor loadout since hitting with 3 pellets from the blunder and eor quickscoping can work from across half of a sloop bowsprite to mast (once i was fighting a gally and killed someone with just 2 shots from the base of the stair to the other side of the brig)
@@zhuyuchen8324 yes you should definitely only go there if you see they are gathering food from the barrel or if they are double gunners and need to reload both their weapons or stg like that... Not like any of these happen that often xdd

People always say that the only way to get better at pvp is to lose, yeah getting spawncamped while my ship dies from the one hole I can’t repair was SUPER helpful

this is a joke spawn camping is hard to dealwith but spam just and a direction button as your repawning so you won't be standing still for that half second when you come back from the ferry this might help dealing with spawn camping
The skill you learn there is "when to fold 'em".
Last one is a really good one because it allows you to even analyze the other steps and look at the mistakes. I should definitely try to remember recording before the next fight.

The rowboat supply thing is actually really smart. However I can’t think of a situation where I would despawn their supplies and not just take it for my own ship.
Yes its very situational, since our ship was far and still returning , we did not know if they will eventually get to Jackie. Eventually paid off

Thank you for making a pvp video showing tips and highlights using cutlass and not toxic double gun meta. Most PVP tip videos just tell you to doublegun and how, and that's the end of it.
This is a swashbuckling pirate game not a twitchy fps, sword should be mandatory. This game is really good at giving you an even playing field ie no real better or worse option when it comes to what's available but dropped the ball hard when it comes to raw PVP non ship combat, as if you're not double gunning you're just flat out at meta disadvantage, beyond the fact that alot of doublegunners literally use Marcos/quick swapping exploits to do their strat and try to act like it's playing the game as Rare intended and designed. This game shouldn't have a meta if everything is on an even field beyond skill level as Rare makes it out.

Hey we were in a galeon and got beaten up by a sloop , do you have any advices to how to be Defensive/Offensive against a sloop being in a galeon?
Get a broadside one them, sure they are nimble but one anchorball or boarder anchoring them while they're in your broadside you can lay into them seriously, if you have 3 people (and the other one boarding or steering) on the cannons you can overwhelm and sink a sloop in seconds

Bro how are you tanking shotguns. I get grazed by a couple of bullets and it's a one shot kill for them even with full health.
I'd love to capture gameplay for review, but xbox has horrible gameplay capture options.
I've tried 3rd party capture programs and systems and they either eat resources or cause latency issues, both affecting gameplay.

I’ve sunk a brig with 2 chain shots 18 cannonballs and 3 firebombs… they weren’t very great
the brig wasn't great if you sunk them with that amount of supplies
I'm absolutely terrible. I'm forcing more PvP more often for practice but the skill gap is so wide. I dont want to keep relying on keg bombs for sneak attacks.
A MASSIVE tip for pvp and something sweats will say otherwise to you is to play into YOUR strengths not anybody elses. If you are a solo slooper and a 4 man galleon is chasing you. You are outmanned and outgunned(cannon) you owe nobody a fight especially when they have a massive advantage over you. Your strength is the nimbleness of a sloop. Sail against the wind and around very rough terrain. The enemy isn’t going to fairly fight you 1 on 1 if you’re solo to be fair so don’t play “fair” with them. You don’t always have to run sometimes fighting is better but if you don’t see yourself winning its better to try to lose them or discourage them from chasing by going to areas they can’t maneuver easily (Like shipwreck bay)
if you are confident on cannon go past a skull fort and use the skull fort cannons to chain shot their mast and also sail past n13 unnamed island as it has very shallow water near it and could cause the galleon to beach and lose them precious seconds on you
My problem is finding battles. It's as if the servers are always empty.
Whenever I charge the sword lunge I have no movement like phuzzy.
Hey I know this comment is late as hell lol. But if you still play you have to hold block as you sword lunge and that lets you move around as it charges up.

this is why i always tell people never keep a storage crate on your ship, im the dude who disposes of your supplies if i see you have a storage crate... especially your wood, the risk of having all your wood or cannon balls thrown over is not worth quick looting or a slightly more convenient supply of materials

because they were straight chasing Jackie on the rowboat we did not know if they would get us.
People would rather run away than fight back 90 % of the time which is disappointing considering how much fun pvp is in this game.

I've had some pretty nasty PVP encounters in this game. I want to believe that there are some good sports out there but out of the I think little over 20 encounters I've had with other people when I decided to fight and not run they've been toxic try Hardy assholes who just insult me for no reason. More than not the excuse I get for their attitude is it's a pirate game expect to die. I expect to die. I expect to have my ship sunk and my loot stolen and my supplies taken. I don't expect people to call me the n word in a derogatory angry way. Or call me a cuck and a c***. My belief is toxic behavior is about how you present yourself during an interaction on a game. Sinking someone isn't toxic. Spawn camping you is a dick move but it's not toxic. Spouting off hateful rude vulgar derogatory racist s*** at someone just because things are either not going your way or are going your way and you're just a bad sport is toxic behavior.

Step 1: Do as phuzzy says, not as he does.
Step 2: Stop using sword lunge, as hitreg causes you to get stunlocked far too often, which = insta death against a blunder.
Step 3: Split your resources between barrels and storage crates.
Step 4: Analyze your battles and learn from your mistakes.
Step 5: Practice.
I figured out step 3 from experience. Just makes sense. On the one hand, it's easy to sink and lose everything, On the other hand, it's also easy for people to throw your crates overboard.
