Too bad about the fall on the turn. I love her choreography, the energy was great throughout the whole routine.
I'm so impressed by how much she has improved over the past year. Her artistry/presentation is amongst the best.
This is the proof that at Classics she was grossly underscored. I'm so sorry that she didn't completely hit this time around (she didn't fall at least), because I'm sure she would've scored into the low 12s this time. She said she wanted to score more here and vault... nerves must have got the best of her.

@@katyafan So do you think that they took the 1.00 point deduction? She had techincally completed her rotation, finding herself exactly at the starting point, so putting her hand down was totally considered part of the choreo IMO. The scoring would be too inconsistent from Classics...

First of all Syd is amazing! Tied for 8th on bars and now got the double pike of beam and got 4th!
But, speaking of floor, what could she do to improve her score? What is missing since she scores lower on floor compared to other elements? Also on vault but there she did a twisting tuck with a lower D score.
Improve her landings, increase her height on tumbling passes (some look a bit chucked) and improve her dance skills. She struggles to hit 180 degrees on some dance skills and in this routine obviously the wolf turn cost her a lot of points.
Some of these problems will probably solve themselves a bit when she matures.

Her score at Classics doesn't make sense compared to this. I was very surprised when that routine didn't break 12. Maybe replacing her front pass with the double tuck helps? This routine surely would have scored over 12 without the wolf turn mishap.
She didn't get credit for it either so totaled up it might of broken 13.

tsangpogorge I think more since she put her hand down it’s a fall so that’s .5 plus whatever deductions on not getting the turn all the way or maybe not getting credit?

Maybe she was flustered because the announcer said "Susie Morris".
The girls need to return to saluting with their arms over their heads not down by their sides.
I think you mean finishing a skill because everyone still has to salute with arms over head at beginning and end of routines. They've stopped finishing skills with arms over head because it gives away tenths in deductions by showing any little balance corrections, plus it's easier to fall when your center is long versus short. Pretty sure that's why everyone's sporting buns now instead of ponytails too.
Why did they give her that score
