What a great video and great comparison- of something old and something new- reflects just why Eastman is getting the respect that it deserves. Beautiful voicing and continued build quality at such a reasonable price point. Thanks for sharing this!

I bought an E1D Sapele in November. Having only my memory to go by I thought it outshined both my 66 D-28 Brazilian Rosewood and my 1959 D-18 Martin guitars. The Sapele I think is somewhere in between Rosewood and Mahogony sound wise: More warmth than the Mahogony, not quite as much depth as the Brazilian, but for a little over $600 and easy $51/mo. no-interest payments for a guitar that sounds like a canon out of the box, it totally exceeded my expectations. It was great to hear an exceptional flatpicker echoing my thoughts. Cheers, mate!

Adam you should also try out a Martin D-18 Authentic 1939 Aged, to see if that would work for you. It's more expensive than the Eastman, but nothing like the Vintage D-18. I have one and it has the most comfortable 1 11/16" neck on it. The 1936 Martin looks and sounds like Kenny Smith's 1935 D-18. Very nice video!

The Eastman is a great sounding guitar. I'd be happy to have it as my main guitar. That '36 D-18 is on a whole other level though.
The best sounding D-18 I ever played was a David Crosby signature model with quilted Honduran mahogany.
The best sounding Martin bar none, was a D-28 Marquis with an Adirondack top that a friend of mine had.

Great Demo..That Eastman is impressive..What flat pick and thickness? Looks like BC. Do you think the XS strings are louder than the Martin MA550T? The XS are supposed to last a long time.

not much can compare to that 36 Martin...but the Eastman is amazing for the price, comparable to many new boutique spruce/hog dreads and no one can dispute that!

I got an Eastman e6d tc with Swiss alpine spruce top. Sounded great when I got it but word of advice if you want an Eastman to really shine. Get rid of the factory bone saddle and have a better quality bone saddle with a tighter fit installed. I did that and it’s way better. More fuller sounding more resonant and more punch. It’s a beast just doing a simple cheap upgrade as a better tight fitting bone saddle. It improved the clarity a little bit as well. Problem with Eastman is they not only use poor quality bone they don’t fit them in bridge slot tight enough to really transfer string vibrations from the saddle to the bridge.

My Eastman saddle is so tight I couldn't get it out...once I did I weighted it and it was very dense almost as much as my fossil ivory in my Martin.

Those tones are totally distorted, can't really hear the characteristics of these guitars.
