i’m absolutely in love with it. 4 doors are the best imo. functionality and the proportions are more appropriate in my opinion. gotta start editing your feature soon ;)
we are lucky to have a decent selection close enough but unfortunately we’ve still gotta travel for the good ones sometimes. this one required a 12 hour round trip to virginia.
Great looking new to you 80 Rabbit 😎 l totally understand putting the project 75 Rabbit on hold to get this 80 Rabbit, I would do this if this if the opportunity came my way. Also hopefully the 04 Passat wagon 1.8t 5 speed will serve you well, I have a similar car as a daily driver a 02 Jetta wagon 1.8t 5 speed
yeah man the plans/talks to finally buy this car started a few months ago so didn’t wanna get ahead of myself and talk too much about it, but it’s the primary reason the swallowtail is on hold. i’ve put a few thousand miles on the passat already and it’s been an absolute champ. no rust whatsoever so hopefully i’ll get a few years out of it. i was looking at jetta tdi wagons too but the prices were tough to commit to, and this one just happened to fall in my lap for a very fair deal.
hahaha right? this will be the extent of the fleet for some time now. life is much less frantic nowadays and i don’t have time to take on any other basket cases, but sure feels good to have a road worthy rabbit again.
appreciate that big time! it’s not always unicorns and rainbows when they are all breaking at the same time but weekends like this make it worth it for sure! thanks for the support
So freaking awesome. Makes ya wonder how someone drives around a mint rabbit and their strut bearings are 5 inches tall. 🤣🤣🤣. I know you’ll take care of that. 🍺👊. Good score. Red interior 💥💥💥
yeah i’m torn on raising it up a bit. it looks so damn good but just not sustainable or practical this low. i wanna drive the wheels of the thing, not be worried about getting beached trying to get on/off the shoulder of a highway or something lol.
Perfect mix of looking pretty damn good and not being so nice that you need to worry about leaving it at Stop and Shop for a quick grocery run or something. Love show cars but love drivers more, these things need to keep moving.
exactly! was a little bummed about the paint at first but then simply reminded myself it’s a perfect drivers car that no one can be mad about if it gets dinged up or isn’t kept in a climate controlled garage lol.
Where did you get the Rapid engine cover? Had one on my 1985 GTI purchased it from Rapid parts up in Monsey NY but that was year's ago. Nice Rabbit. Owned a few VW I'll list my favorites: 1985 GTI 8V 2001 GTI 12V VR6 2004 R32 24V VR6 still miss 😢 the R!
yeah man that’s gotta be tough. i have a friend who moved back and forth to hawaii a few times and he told me all about what it’s like being a car enthusiast there. everytime he moved back he would ship a car with him that he bought from mainland because there’s slim pickins there. the snow can get old towards the end of winter if we get a lot, but it makes the nicer months that much better.
@@mk1rabbithole yeah sounds about right. the nice thing is, once we do get the right car, it's an absolute blast to drive around the island with em haha
Hey man, that car looks Amazing. I dunno if anyone would be interested to know a little tip on those K-jet/ CIS injection systems. Usually when left for a week or more in one place they struggle to start or the mechanical pump gets mucked up or (Dieseled in my some terms). Long story short. Just loosen the banjo bolt on the cold start or a injector & leave it lightly loose to bleed off pressure. Just dont forget to tighten it before starting again. Then no more issues after it has been standing or parked off for a while P.S: why does cold start injector place look so subtle for a nitrous jet ? o.0
hmmm i’ll have to give that a try! funny you should mention that…in an old video use the 5th injector wiring to power the nitrous solenoid on a torture test…ua-cam.com/video/NBzK-Qa7L6g/v-deo.html
What’s the suspension and wheel specs? Looks amazing. Have some coils coming for my 84 and have OE teardrops but I don’t think it’ll tuck like yours do.
i actually don't have any of the wheel specs sadly. i can try reaching out to the previous owner who put them on but it'll be a bit of a long shot. i sold them last winter. as much as i enjoyed the way the car looked, just not enough tire for my needs. wanted to put my own touch on the car too. just raceland coilovers on it btw.
would that primarily be in the summer months? until i eventually have indoor space for it, i’ll have to use an all weather cover on it which i assume isn’t a breathable cover like you’re talking about.
Just found your channel love the content! Curious about what a car like this would sell for, looking to get into a MK1, owned one back in 2012 but the market has changed a lot in 10 years, have my eye on one but don’t have a great gauge for current prices yet.
sorry it took so long to answer. thanks for the support though! you can expect to pay 6k give or take for something like this. prices are all over the place and unfortunately some people think their 1500$ clapped out late westy rabbit is worth $4k+. with patience and willingness to travel/transport, 5-6k can get you into a very nice example. the occasional barn find will pop up for half that or less so it’s just a waiting game more than anything if you don’t wanna pay too much.
the majority of them will just be surface rust underneath. the two near the hatch will probably be rot. i’m not too worried about it, nothing even remotely structural.
Enjoy bud! I know you'll take care of her
thanks again 👊🏻👊🏻
The transition from hauling to cruising sick ass fuck keep it up mike u killing it
my favorite part hands down! glad you liked it. thanks for the support as always!
I was literally about to comment this
The transition had me stuff as a cobra
ooof that interior looks so good. would love a 4 door cruiser. keep it up, man

How awesome is that!!! Congrats dude.
thank you!
Congrats on the “new car,” super clean and digging the red interior. Best of luck
dude thank you! the interior is what hooked me years ago.
Sweeet! Im amazed of all the available mk1s in your area. Cheers!

Looks nice! I love Rabbits that still look nice. That interior is excellent!
thank you! interior was one of the huge selling points.
That intro cinematics 🔥🔥
Looks amazing on those HRE wheels.
i was looking for wheels just for the sake of putting my own touch on the car but man, o don’t think i’ll be able to take these off it.
@@mk1rabbithole I get what you’re saying. You need to make it yours but that is a really gooood look. Once it’s running right, just enjoy it. 🙌🏽

Wow, that thing is mint!
not quite mint but as close at it’ll get for something that i’ll daily.
Sweet 🐇 and the beginning with Brown Sugar towing it is legit then the transition into it driving was awesome. I love both vehicles.
i was looking forward to filming and editing that part the most. glad you enjoyed it just as much!
pretty! man the 1980 front end is so sick! love that look
my favorite front end on the rabbits by a long shot.

@@mk1rabbithole fully agree, my mk4 and mk2 are broken needing repair and I’m dailying the rabbit, it’s a scene over here
that's a legit nice rabbit - great score!!!

That lipstick red is one of the nicest I've ever seen 😍 brb selling all my junk to go find a nice early westy now lol
it’s incredible. it’s what had me sold on the car years ago.

too many flavors to enjoy, so little
