    This is absolutely outstanding. The fusion of active and passive systems into a seemingly finished product is a monumental achievement. Very few companies, have put out products with this level of market ready completion. Installation 00. I think you should be extremely proud of yourself for what you have achieved here so far. It’s astonishing to me that motivated and dedicated UA-camrs like you that are building the equivalent of the pinnacle of sci-fi inspired super soldier technologies. Companies like Raytheon and Boeing was seemingly limitless billions in government dollars put out these hilariously cartoonishly bad model demonstrators. You quite literally could wear what you have done as a badge of honor.

      " building the equivalent of the pinnacle of sci-fi inspired super soldier technologies"
      lets be honest right here, it's just cosplay with some next step, it's nowhere near the "equivalent" of the actual thing.

    • @jonathanoriley8260
      @jonathanoriley8260 3 місяці тому +16

      @@claire6650 Ah, yes, because Cosplay typically has kevlar/aramid layers and ballistic plates, which in this very video he says they plan on implementing into the armor pieces (hence why he speculated a collab with guntubers like Demolition Ranch to provide live-fire testing when they get to that point in development). Even the undersuit shown in this video has stab-proof kevlar layers.

    • @jonathanoriley8260
      @jonathanoriley8260 3 місяці тому +14

      @@claire6650 That is completely opposite from the definition and use of cosplay. One does not design cosplay with the purpose of ballistic defense and computer networking in-mind. Cosplay is just costumes; _nothing more._ The moment it begins providing true functionality capable of practical application is the moment it is no longer "cosplay".
      As someone who served in the US Navy, and as a fellow sailor already mentioned in the comments, the undersuit/Spartan BDU shown here alone would already provide real benefits for nukes and other rates that typically work in the lower decks and engine compartments. The cooling and blunt force/stabbing protection would be a godsend in those environments.
      As for the armor components themselves, the HUD systems alone are far beyond what is necessary for "cosplay". Working HUDs have had military applications since the 80s and 90s particularly with pilots originally, such as with the MiG-29 back then and the F-35 today. And again, the significance of a working exo-suit type system with functional ballistic protection must not be understated. These concepts have already, for good reasons, been tested years ago by DARPA and military contractors; the only issue has always been the power supply. But "battery" technology has advanced significantly over the last decade alone.
      If Installation00 succeeds in this project, it will at the very least provide a proof-of-concept that I guarentee will have governments and military contractors around the world give a good hard look at.

    Hi. Cool project. Glad to find someone who went further than making children's toys. Maybe you'll find it useful, years ago I designed clothes for truck drivers. I came up with a multi-layer fabric that is organised like a double-glazed window pane. The layers are separated from each other by small sleeves in which a valve is built in. So these sleeves separate the layers and change the air, drawing excess heat and moisture away from the body. The first layer is made of mesh to keep heat between the suit and the body. There are temperature and humidity sensors throughout the suit. In areas where it is hotter, valves are opened. The transition from layer to layer is gradual so that there is no sudden change. The main issue is condensation.
    It was a long time ago and the computing power of the device was weak.
    Also one more element may be useful.
    This is a belt that controls the pressure on the body. The volume of the body changes in different positions. Sensors control the tension and keep the same pressure on the body without squeezing it.
    A rubber belt changes its length but increases the pressure. Then I found on the internet an artificial skin that changes its elasticity when an electrical signal is applied.
    Good luck!

    The technology you are pouring into this is absolutely amazing. Bravo to you and your team, and I can't wait to see what is to come.
    A thought I had about the armor moving forward. For whoever is going to where the entire suit once it is assembled, it may not be a bad idea to measure and then input into the system what their end range of motion is for each joint. This way, in theory, should the armor have a similar power to be able to read and help initiate the movements you want to make, it can't over exaggerate the movement and end up hurting the wearer. Essentially, if you only have 110 degrees of knee flexion, it won't bring you past that and end up tearing a muscle or something worse. I know we are bound to the technology of our time, and the suit may not be able to read our neurological inputs like Chiefs does, but with all the things you are talking about, it sounds like you are on track for the suit to have the ability to help make each movement that much easier for the wearer. Just some thoughts from a humble follower of the work. I can't wait to see what you all develop next!

    Here’s an idea. If you have a halo unsc weapon. Place a pad on a rifle where the fingers wrap around the grip and pads on the fingertips that touch the pad when holding the rifle.
    When holding a rifle the pads will connect to each other and allow the hud to read data coming from the rifle to allow ammo count

      from what I hear it's tricky to make a reliable ammo counting system, but seeing what 00 has already achieved here I bet he could at minimum bodge something together as a stretch goal.

      @@xXx_Regulus_xXxIn airsoft we have sensors in tracer units (I have an xcortech tracer unit). Tracer units are typically designed to look like suppressors and fit over the barrel via threads. It flashes glow bb's, counts them as you fire, can chrono them to tell you their muzzle velocity, and can tell you your rate of fire. It feeds thus data to a mock peq box, and can count up just to tell you how much you fire, or you can program your magazine capacity and it can count down for you. It's only really inaccurate in double feeds, which are mostly just an airsoft issue

    • @TheParadoxGamer1
      @TheParadoxGamer1 3 місяці тому +3

      @@hf117jik the Glock ammo counter that exists has a mini gyro which feels for the actual recoil to see how much ammo remains. Still requires some physical data entry but its close!

    • @HydratedBeans
      @HydratedBeans 3 місяці тому +2

      The main reason it’s hard is because you never know how much ammo you’re starting with. Counting shots is easy. Can’t use weight on the magazine either because that changes with different loads. The only thing I can think of is a depth sensor in the magazine follower.

    • @BriningRealEstate
      @BriningRealEstate 3 місяці тому +1

      Could potentially use the mics built into the helmet to have an auditory response that could count each round fired but that would get tricky in an actually live fire situation with more than one person unless it has a directional sensor built into the system allowing for it to only hear what’s directly in front of it

    Wow, this is incredible. For the exoskeleton, have you already looked at how real medieval armour is mounted? Maybe contact Matt Easton from Scholagladiatoria, who again knows Dr. Tobias Capwell, who is the armour expert IMO. He does actually fight in his armour. The core of the mounting system is an arming jacket (yours might be high-techy of course) of which the arms are hung off. The legs can be strapped there, too. But a separate C-belt or lendenier might be more comfortable for this. So to speak, if arms and legs are separated, they move more freely.
    I am sorry if you are already beyond this step, I just thought about that.

    • @xXx_Regulus_xXx
      @xXx_Regulus_xXx 3 місяці тому +2

      what we saw in this video was the equivalent to an arming jacket, the darker pads on it and the spine covering will be used to mount the armor, but you're definitely right that there would be lessons to learn from real historical armor that might not be present in the current revision

    Creating a halo assault rifle more cost effectively could use the Helion bull pup and a picatinny mount for the AR top cover which the empty space could then house the targeting system similar to the US military’s new holo therm sight but the sight part wouldn’t be needed as it would link to the HUD system.

    If you're using metal on that helmet, it should have a thin kevlar liner as a spall liner or people are gonna die from fragmentation wounds if they every test it ;) - same applies to the chest plate. Wrap the titanium in ballistic kevlar. It'll prevent spalling and should help a touch with preventing penetration.

    I'm an engineering student at a public university in the US, and I recently discovered your project. I've been excited about the prospect of making MJOLNIR for a long time, especially when I saw Adam Savage create thin titanium armor that was able to resist small-arms fire. I'm amazed at the progress you've made! I'd love to know more about it!
    I had actually been looking into working towards real MJOLNIR myself at some point, after I graduate with my degree. I had even put together a bit of an outline, with the hope MJOLNIR could someday be made! The new BDU you made looks amazing. I had played with the idea of using shaped pieces of D30 for shock absorption, along with boron nitride nanotube radiation shielding, then combining those with a liquid cooling and ventilation garment to create a mechanical counterpressure undersuit. That way you could have an undersuit capable of EVA in a vacuum. I really like the mounting points you all created and built into the suit. It would be awesome if there was a way to combine all of these things together into a closer-to-final version of the BDU!
    I was also curious as to how the titanium pieces were fashioned. Did you all use a 3d printer capable of printing with titanium? What is the thickness, if you don't mind me asking? I had thought of maybe 3d printing the armor plates, then laminating or mounting those onto the shaped D30 pieces, which could then be mounted to the undersuit. I also thought that giving the titanium plates a thin coating of tungsten carbide would increase abrasion resistance and heat resistance, but I wasn't sure if it'd be effective. Do you intend on changing the overall shape of the armor from the games? I was thinking that it would need to be redesigned to reflect shrapnel away from more vulnerable points between armor plates, so that if a bullet hit the chest plate, for example, the shrapnel would be reflected away instead of potentially into the neck.
    I'm amazed at what you were able to do with the helmet, especially for being the first iteration. Have you come up with a way to make a visor that is bullet resistant? I had thought of starting with creating a GUNGNIR style helmet, since it would have titanium armor covering the face, with some kind of camera setup and a HUD, but I figured that current hardware limitations would make that impossible due to latency and bulk. I've heard of research on transparent metals, but I don't think there's been enough research or progress made towards actually producing one with a high tensile strength.
    I'd love to know about what you all are working on to power the armor as well! I hadn't actually come up with anything , but I'm kept pretty busy by school, my fellowship, and my research lab. My MJOLNIR ideas were mostly brainstormed while messing around whenever I would occasionally hyper-focus on Halo. It's honestly insanely impressive what you and your collaborators have managed to create, especially without having a ton of initial capital, in just a few years!
    It would be awesome to hear from you and learn some more things about this project!!
