Alvaro wasn't ready, and the loan to Benfica should be viewed as a gamble. Benfica regularly produces fine quality players that are later sold at very high prices. I think that our buyback clause will correlate with whatever we charged them to make the loan permanent. Because he'll receive the same training, game time, etc, regardless of the amount they paid for him, it only makes sense for INEOS to try and keep any buyback opportunities as cheap as possible. And if another team bids for him,Benfica will be less justified in pricing him too highly because of the low,low price they bought him for (£6 mil),thus keeping our potential "matching" clause price down. And in the worst case possible, if he's crap then Benfica will sell him,and even if they sell at a loss, we still collect a dividend. I believe that Man City have a standard contract for all academy graduates that have similar options,and i hope that this is Berrada's influence coming through.

Regardless if you want ETH to stay or go ; poor form from these journos and beyond with media storms and agenda days before the final. We are already massive underdogs against one of the best teams in the world with our very average squad decimated by injuries no less. Have at it after the final but City didn't need any more of an advantage going into this final via a constant destabilizing media storm aimed at us.

Grealish not only that freestyle style of footballer , who needs that license and freedom to operate. But especially when he was a Villa really saw the character and bravery on the pitch as well. With the CBs Todibo should be the first one signed imo ; our priority is a RCB who compliments Licha. Branthwaite or Guehi aren't ideal Licha partners for next term imo. Jarrad not very pacy , left-footed , coming from a low-block system he will have to evolve from and still developing. Guehi lacks the height that Licha needs next to him. Todibo isn't great in the air but at least he's well over 6 foot , very pacy / can cover a lot of ground and a modern progressive ball playing CB. Maybe not a world class CB (tbd) but he ticks all the boxes in terms of fee , attributes and ease of deal.
Its a shame with Alvaro going for a pittance regardless of the inserted clauses. AF could have been tried this term with all our LB issues and i like the look of him / his attributes (tall , physical , technical LB). He could have helped bridge the gap until Amass potentially ready.
Jarrad played very well in a high line defence at PSV a season before. Unfortunately at Everton he has to play low block. He is good as Licha back up but the price isn't right
@@bernardkumandja1107 given his very high ceiling i would sign JB but only after we sign a finished article RCB first and foremost. I would consider circling back for Jarrad if funds allow but given our other positions to address and what Everton will likely ask does not seem very likely. A finished article / ready to go RCB has to be the main CB priority.
If we can't get pep then we should get tuchel (or klopp or ancelotti).
Dalot has had an 'Denis Irwin season', consistent and reliable, which is a great compliment.
The British media war on ETH has been so ridiculous, all the while. Whereas, he qualified for 3 finals in 2 yrs and won one throphy thus far. Conversely, Vincent Kompany qualified Burnley from the Championship to the EPL and got them relegated back to the Championship in the space of two years, and now he is sought after by bigger Clubs. Will INEOS be any better than the Glazers?

Im gonna disagree with you on Dalot. He had a period where he made some good last ditch tackles/blocks, but he is still a poor defender. His positioning is poor, he very rarely stops the cross and actually, whilst his individual skill and ability is good going forward, he actually doesnt support his wife player well because he constantly drifts inside. Everyone fit and on form, id sooner have AWB
The only managers who can compete with pep guardiola are carlo ancelotti, juergen klopp and thomas tuchel.

I agree with the OP statement about a strong, charismatic manager. Being United manager means being more than just a coach, you've got to have an "us against the world" mentality because 70% of the country want nothing more than to see you fail and the press will tear you down at any opportunity.
We need someone who can not only build a side up, with tactical and man-management prowess, but who can also stand up to the British Press and weather the storm
