For whoever looking for a solution for unity error screen; a clean install was the only working solution for me. After saving what you absolutely need (like custom songs, playlists), just delete the whole folder, uninstall the game with steam, and install it again. Then do the steps in the video.
Thanks for a quick and easy tutorial video. I just got a new headset for PCVR and remembered the hassle of having to keep waiting for mod support with each new update, this helped a lot. Wish I knew this method existed before.

PS I have never used steam before, I'm on my husband's account for beat saber, so I had NO IDEA it would auto update, and you CAN'T disable this in settings 😲 ...I was so confused why my mods broke until I opened mod assist and figured it out but it took another minute to realize it must have updated without my knowledge. Anyway, this was very straightforward, easy, and does not involve any 3rd party apps that require your password 😉 (which besides being a security risk, I don't KNOW haha)
I wish there was a mod (or mod manager) that hijacked Beat saber's ability to auto update, and made it so the updates were voluntary, and that you could see if the mods you have installed are updated for the version you're considering updating to
Steam forces updates so there is no way around it, you can use beat saber legacy to manage updates easier,( bsl uses this method and is more user friendly id say with more configuration options)

You can download it whenever, but you have to update your game first when steam forces, as it won’t work correctly and will make you still update even after downgrade. So yes it does work :)

Good question, beat saber would show it needs to be updated so it would have to update again, and then you’d just have to follow the tutorial again after you update

hello! usually this is an incompatible mod, if you have heck installed uninstall that. I had this same issue for a while lol. If it isnt heck, remove cosmetic mods and other non core mods one by one until you can play.
Assuming you’re talking about BSL but BSL does the same thing as this (from my understanding) it just makes the process dummy proof if that makes sense

Go to your program files x86 then go to steam then follow - Steam\steamapps\content\app_620980\depot_620981 - then copy the depot files and paste that into your beat saber folder!
I would say try it again and make sure the Depot numbers are in the right stop, usually that is the issue with it! (as long as you legally own the game lmfao) Let me know if there is any other issues or if you fixed it!
steam keeps upgrading my version.. did this just yesterday, switched it from 1,34,5 to 1.29.1 and now it was back to 1.34.6 pfff is there any way to prevent that?
When beat saber releases an update, steam forces the update, there is nothing you can do but just degrade again, as long as there isnt any updates there wont be an issue
This is a tutorial to downgrade your game on steam, you can wait for the mods to update or you can downgrade for better performance as well. Takes all but 5 minutes to down grade and 5 minutes to force update it. (Verify game cache or reinstall bs)

start from the steam console again and then just put in the correct manifest ID you want, itll just replace the depot in the files. tldr: just redo the video lol

It can take some time, ofc i cut it out in the video, i believe it was about 10 minutes for me. But there is tons of external factors such as steam servers and your internet speed. I can say it is slow because I have great internet and it should have took not even a minute but ended up taking 10.
Hi, I followed all the steps and in game I see I have the 1.28 installed, but I can't see the mods. I set ModAssistant to 1.28 patch, installed the mods, launched the game but they don't show up. Interesting, is there any error msg when you try to install mods? If the folder doesnt show up try creating a plugins folder. You can also try running IPA.exe. Otherwise I would just verify the integrity of the game files to force the game to update, then try it again (or reinstall)

Yes this tutorial allows you to downgrade to any version, just substitute the manifest ID I used with the one you want, the guide with all the manifest IDs is in the description

Did you get it working now? All I can think is make sure your beat saber is in the same version as the mods your installing, otherwise run IPA in the beat saber folder and try again. Sometimes you might just have to reinstall, but that is last resort.

From what I've garnished from online, its an error where you need to download ttf-liberation or steam-fonts from the AUR. Not sure if this applies to windows because it seems to be a linux issue. (Archlinux?) Do you happen to be on linux? (This seemed to work for some users but it is info i just copied and pasted, hope it helps).

@@Kubuszpodlasia I had the issue myself about a year ago, I forget what I did to fix it. It was either of these two options - in the Beat saber folder go to "Beat Saber\Beat Saber_Data\Managed" then delete a file called Newtonsoft.json or try to run IPA and see if that fixes it!

With the new steam overlay update i dont get the Download Complete, from where i should copy the Data

I tried this and my game acts like it's starting but then boots me back to the steam library 😥
hello! Try a fresh install then try to downgrade. If that does not work, go to your beat saber folder and follow - Beat Saber\Beat Saber_Data\Managed - then delete a file called "newtonsoft". If that does not work, go to beat saber files and launch IPA exe. Lmk if that helps!

Can you elaborate more? Like is there an error msg? Do you have multiple drives (cld be on diff drive)? What does the steam console say
ERROR: "CAPIJobRequestUserStats - Server response failed 2"
From what I've garnished from online, its an error where you need to download ttf-liberation or steam-fonts from the AUR. Not sure if this applies to windows because it seems to be a linux issue. (Archlinux?) Do you happen to be on linux? (This seemed to work for some users but it is info i just copied and pasted, hope it helps).

@@nerrdyt I was already able to download the files and install the mods, but not all the songs I had already downloaded appear and I do not appear to choose songs. Do you recommend a clean installation? You have some video to do everything from 0. Do you recommend 1.24 better than other versions? There are many questions, forgive me.
@@J3xux the new video is the updated version on how to downgrade your game, my old tutorial is just outdated, sounds like the file location got lost somehow, not sure how to proceed with that, try reinstalling bs then follow tutorial

@@Kubuszpodlasia I had the issue myself about a year ago, I forget what I did to fix it. It was either of these two options - in the Beat saber folder go to "Beat Saber\Beat Saber_Data\Managed" then delete a file called Newtonsoft.json or try to run IPA and see if that fixes it!
