- You have to ask yourself, why would an extremely vocal anti-gun celebrity write, produce and star in a movie where guns were needed in the first place? I wouldn’t even consider being involved in a film that went against the things I believe in, so why did he?
This is a tragedy that would have been avoided by simply taking the mandatory safety class required on every set involving firearms OR admitting that he knew little to nothing about firearms and needed additional instruction in safety protocol.
In my opinion there is NO excuse for this daisy chain of ignored protocol and someone needs to be held responsible.

After the incident first occurred, my husband was going crazy hollering at the TV echoing many of the points you have made here and on some of your other videos about guns and gun safety. I appreciate how you have explained the on set protocols and your righteous stance in calling out Alec. I initially had no clue, thought it was "an accident," and felt sorry for him. But thanks to you, I feel better informed and agree whole heatedly that someone, or likely more than one person, should be held responsible. Thank you for keeping it real. My 3 boys are all in their 40's now and grew up watching "Dukes of Hazard" every week. I will be 66 next month. I liked you back then, but I like you even more now. I wish there were more people in Hollywood like you and a lot less like Alec Baldwin. I admire your values, which seem to match my own. May God bless and keep you and your loved ones safe. Thank you John, and you are spot-on with this assessment. As an answer to your question (and, full disclosure, coming from someone who has never had any acting experience at all - and playing devil's advocate to boot), I can only speculate that some actors measure their acting prowess by, among other yard-sticks, how effectively they can play the part of a character whos views, persona and actions are diametrically opposed to their own.
But I suspect, in the case of the more outspoken left-leaning actors like Mr. Baldwin at least, the motive for taking on a controversial role or writing a script regardless of that role's or script's contradiction to the actor's personal values has less to do with stepping out of their comfort zone and more to do with money.
The likely biggest concern was "What type of script can I write that will sell like whiskey shots in a Tennessee night club to all those inferior "great-un-washed little people" of middle America?" Hypocrisy and worse, without shame. It almost comes off as a form of prostitution.
At least when you walked into the interview for the Bo Duke role carrying a six-pack it likely didn't contradict your nature and character. This probably would not have worked for Alec. They'd have seen right through him.

Thank you for the video. I have been asking that same question for years. You articulate it much better than I do. I am not an actor, but how can anyone assist in advocating or glorifying a view they oppose so deeply? It boggles my mind. No one on the left is ever asked to defend that position. You would be severely scrutinized if you were involved in a pro-abortion movie. Without a doubt!

Every person on set that day whose hands that gun passed through should be held responsible. Including Alec. How dumb do you have to be to point a Gun at somebody and pull the trigger without checking it first to make sure it's empty ? Seriously how does any Adult not know such a basic safety protocol ? I wanna say they have the behavior of a wreckless child but even my Kids know better than to do that.
I'm Canadian we really don't do guns much like the States but we have enough brains not to point any gun at a person.

If you have no training then you shouldn’t handle a firearm in the first place ! Where I come from guns are taught how to use and no misuse and safety precautions are well taken ! I don’t understand why he went against his words and made the movie including fire arms ! It’s a tragedy and certainly not classified as an accident in my opinion! What happened to where all that are to be handling this gun never checked it out? If you don’t know how to use the dang thing then why make a movie using them if you don’t know the first thing about it???? Now her child is left without a mother because nobody had a safety class to learn the proper way of handling this weapon . The reason is because darned near every movie Hollywood makes these days involves guns and violence. Actors go wherever the work is for the most part.
I ask this very same question every time I watch a anti-2A actor or actress in a major shoot-em up bang bang film. Oh no, you can't have guns, but I can have one because I have a carry permit or they say, I don't own a gun but I have a bodyguard that carries a gun to protect me, or a I have a security detail and I am surrounded by guns that protect me... It is hypocrisy, plan and simple John! It's like they are saying "One rule for you, another rule for me". I love your videos sir! Keep them coming, and I will keep on watching!

I have been bludgeoned constantly by Baldwin's views on guns and I thought it was grossly hypocritical for him to be so against guns and yet willing to glorify them on screen.

I keep thinking about all those episodes of stargate SG1, Atlantis., with tons and tons of gunplay scenes. Oh the casualties! The total was horrific. 0. Baldwin and the weapons master should both be facing felony charges. Baldwin knows he must check to be sure every round is a blank. Especially after Brandon Lee. On a side note... my bicycle was dubbed the general Lee ... and I did some pretty impressive jumps on it before I was 10 without destroying the frame.... which obviously your stunt crew had problems in that regard. Agreed. By not being trained in gun safety because you oppose the second amendment, guns should never be in your hands. I was raised here in Louisiana by a family who took hunting and gun safety very seriously.

I agree with you. Baldwin hates guns but yet was making a movie with guns and during a rehearsal decided to pull the trigger on the gun. Im not sure who is watching the rehearsals but obviously no no one was there to check the guns probably because they werent filming yet. For someone who hates guns he sure was willing to have one in his hand and pill the trigger. Hypocrite as you said is 100% correct.
*Regarding the hypocrisy, I can think of a few explanations, none of which look good:*
A) Said actor isn't really "anti gun" but is vocally "anti gun" in public because that's what he thinks will earn him the most favor in Hollywood, in which case he's not doing anything against his personal values and therefore doesn't register a conflict
B) said actor personally is "anti gun" but hasn't listened to his conscience in so long that he doesn't hear any voice in the back of his head saying "this is against my values"
C) Said actor doesn't understand the notion that it doesn't matter what you say you believe in, what matters is how you act, and that if those things are in conflict, that is almost technically the definition of hypocrisy.
D) He is PRO-Gun for himself, Anti-Gun for everyone else.
Sorry, but I just had to add that since many rich Anti-Gun people want to have guns around them so that they are safe. Either their own guns, private security or both.
E) Doesn't really have any values. Just goes with the anti gun crowd to fit in. He's not a good actor.
If you think Baldwin was anti-2nd-Amendment before, wait until this drama is over! That said, he's going to pay a heavy price for his hypocracy.

If something is offensive to your personal beliefs it's a legitimate question to ask why you would be involved in perpetuating the offensive thing in any way.
If I were working in Hollywood I would NEVER work on a film where Alec Baldwin was involved at this point.
There are certain things which cannot be "overlooked" for the sake of a paycheck.
Now guns need to be banned on ALL sets, apparently, because ONE IDIOT was incapable of handling them correctly in his rush to make a movie. That's NOT something I could just "overlook."

That is exactly what I thought when I heard about the event. And I also thought, if he knew anything about guns, he wouldn’t have been pointing it at a person or pulling the trigger even if he thought they were unloaded or weren’t real. 🤷🏻♀️ But, hey, I guess only a responsible gun owner would know how to safely handle a gun. What a dumbo.
I am constantly astounded by the number of actors who speak out loudly against ownership of guns, and yet make their living with a gun hand! Whether on the big screen or the little screen, whether it be guns or phasers or any kind of weapons, these people don’t seem to mind making a buck off of weapons. Let them put their money where their mouths are. Either they step back from making money with weapons in hand or they change their way of thinking. Personally, I won’t spend one red cent viewing them in their hypocrisy.
I think Mr. Baldwin was simply making a film that was likely to sell. It's been my experience, though certainly it doesn't compare to yours, but from my seat, Hollywood makes what they think they can sell.

In the field of work that I am in whenever there are incidents where an injury or fatality is involved we do what is called an RCI (Root Cause Investigation). When I look at the events that led up to this and taking into consideration the roles that Alec is involved in on this movie, I would venture to say the reason this happened was on behalf of saving money which equates to making money. The walkout from what I understand was on behalf of wages and unsafe working conditions. Then this happened. Corners are cut and procedures are ignored when safety isn't a concern all in the name of finishing ahead of a deadline.
It could have been a setup, Heaven forbid...God Bless You Brother.!
