    Good evening sir , I disagree with today’s topic and I just want to share my opinion. Consider am 55yrs old and all my kids are well settled in their own profession , they are not in need of my financial support anymore , Now please tell me what am I going to do with the capital appreciation . Am retired from my profession rather investing in real estate to enjoy the rent for my bread and butter I can diversify my portfolio into five different dividend stocks such as Vedanta, Hindustan zinc, IRBInvit, Pginvit and Bepl . Do anyone raise their hands just to say that all these stocks are going to be bankrupt one day ??? NO . In my opinion it totally depends on the investor’s life sustainability whether the fruit to be tasted by capital appreciation or dividend yield . All type of investors cant be kept in the same basket .

    Sir, video is needed for checking the valuation of stock, how to value the stock, not only about PE, there are several other metrics that are here, industry growth, company's market share etc... This list goes long. I may ask for a whole investment class😅 but it's necessary video for small investors. start a new series for this highly passionate and waiting for this class.
    Thank you so much for your videos sir, your way of teaching is excellent giving different examples for the same point i.e price of stock It gave us the right level of thinking it's highly needed for investors.
    Love from a young investor❤ came to the market in COVID, I stopped trading and now I started investing. Make sure not to do so many activities in the market. Be patience like patient😅

    I think Dividend is important... Bcoz capital gain(stock price) is based on Company performance , Govt laws, Global situation and also traders hand... So both are needed... Bcoz some stocks are same price for above 5 years, invester is satisfied for atleast received dividend for this long period not movement stocks..

    Sir, I agree with many of your content. Here I have a different view. I hope you read it.
    Where would an investor invest his money if not in stock market. It must be with real easte, gold or fixed deposit.
    In real estate we have rental yield. Even that is calculated based on market value agreed 100%.
    Since the investor has patiently waited and bought the stock at the right valuation. He can inflation adjust his purchase cost and compare the market dividend yield with his own dividend yeild. No new investor can get the same dividend yield as stock has appreciated in price.
    I assume fd returns must equal inflation value in the long term. And there is no real value made after adjusting inflation. Where as when he invesst the same with a stock. He gets stock growth. Inflation adjusted. And a growing his own dividend yeild w.r.t inflation.

    This is one of the enlightening videos…But dividend yield based on CMP would be notional as the CMP is subject to change every passing sec.

    This also means that Dividend yield theme in MF is inferior to Multi cap theme. However, when we view total return (on cost) at scrip level should be based on capital gain+ dividend received. Trust my understanding is correct.

    I’m sorry, I fail to understand why one should not look at the cost price for dividend calculation ? If we equate to bank FD, I keep 10k and I get interest of say 7%. Instead, I invest in dividend yielding stocks for 10k and get about 2-3%. The difference is, bank FD doesn’t grow but stock price may grow in the long term. So that’s the trade off one takes…and in the long run, when capital appreciates and I sell off, I pay capital gains tax. The capital gains is just notional until realised. So why the dividend % should always consider the notional value which would only showcase lower dividend yield ? May be , this is a totally stupid view, but I sincerely seek more clarity on this. Thank you 🙏

    • @dhananjaysuresh2271
      @dhananjaysuresh2271 6 місяців тому

      you need to understand this in the present context and not at sunk rates because if today you want the money back, then you will compare the current dividend yield with other instruments. also, assume that had the stock moved lower than your purchase price then you would be at a loss of capital (so your invested cost and subsequently dividend yield at cost both go down). moreover, dividend is totally dependent on the company's financial performance, there is no guarantee that it will keep on paying the same dividend amount . it may reduce or completely stop.
