There is NO reason why an ITALIAN brand should even be lacking something as basic as a fuel gauge. That's not a "minor" thing. I saved for years for an mv agusta f3. Finally last Saturday i picked up my new f3 rc. Now it's in my garage because it never stops raining here in England. But it is a beautiful machine and can't wait to get out on it. Love your vids my the way.
I wish you all the best with your new ride. I went to look at a Panigale V2, but then saw the F3 (wasn’t planning on it), and now I can’t stop thinking about it. It fit me better.
I've a RR and the brake issue is not due to the ABS but due to a factory issue of the Nissin pump, and even with the akra in the RR pack the sound isn't that loud, and that's a shame. With the MY23 the brakes issues are resolved, they have moved the brake oil tank near the seat (more or less) and the front brake pump is a brembo, and also the suspension has some update, but the price is higher than MY22. I hope that this comment would be helpful to everyone 😊
The brake issue and exhaust is very, very easy to deal with. No worry there. So long as the engine and transmission hold up with no surprises I say the F3 is a winner. 800cc and around 150hp is perfect for the road.
And a used 2019 GSXR-750 would be the same (148hp, over 86Nm torque) but 15kg lighter and significantly cheaper and more reliable. Also, a _really cheap_ option would be a 2004/2005 Triumph Daytona 955i (149hp and a whopping 100Nm of torque) and only 15Kg more and a 150cc difference.

I would choose it over an F3 all day long, nevertheless the bikes in this upper-middleweight segment are far and few between so I would like to see the ones that are in it to succeed for the sake of having more options in the ´Goldie-Lochs´ segment. The new Yamaha MT09 derived faired retro bikes are a welcome addition.
What year is the F3? I own a 2013 model track only 10.000km so far. Is there anything I need to know in term of maintenance or adjustability? I bet you know a lot about MVs haha. I changed the rear suspension for ttx ohlins and a steering damper and also did the suspension for my weight and speed. It feels a lot smoother but want to get ahead of any problem coming. 2019 Dragster 800RC owner. SC Project exhaust is off the chart. Suppension is bad for top of the range Dragster. Brilliant on open twistie roads. Looks insane. Rear brake never works for more than a few rides and needs to be bleed. I've had random girls compliment the bike and not just old men. MV Agusta can not be your only bike, you need other daily bikes.
I absolutely adore this bike. Its been my dream bike for years. I own an older Aprilia Shiver 750 and its quirks make me love and enjoy the bike even more. I really hope a F3 will be the second bike i ever own. Great video!
I have a MV Augusta Brutale 920, 4 cylinders, from 2011. I bought it second hand for only 5K EUR. The bike has now 41K Km in the odometer and is very reliable, I never had any major issues. I love it, it is fast like a rocket and the Brembo brakes - with no ABS - are lovely!
Never had issues with the 1290 2014 nor heard of the late superduke gt 1290 have engine issues(after selling it tbc).. ive heard horrors about the indian made 390s but right after the second gen release only those ones that break were mostly after new years eve in southeast asia.. most of the issues I hear are internet gossips only being scattered around by people who have never even owned or ridden a bike but just heard rumors about unreliability and made shit up just to feel like they belong but some are true.. not just ktm.. but in most non japanese brand motorcycles.. the most recent ones ive heard were the 790 cam issues and that is very real considering there are thousands of people complaining.. and I think this is a manufacturing problem since they moved their internal parts manufacturing to china.. which was to be expected.. but to be fair their first gen 790s were made in india too where they had the same issue with the 390s with the uneven surface machining of the head and block surfaces making the bikes overheat oh and the 690 plastic fuel tanks after revving the bike so hot and crashing it making it a fire hazard.. never heard of south east asian, south american and austrian manufactured ones break that easy never the less they still are ktms so they still get the blame for that one..
Awesome review. My dedicated track bike is an 2015 Mv F3 800 with ABS. I have the MV race firmware on the ECU so it tuned and the ABS is disable. The front suspension is lightly modified. I run zero TC and believe me you don't need the Brembo master cylinder with the ABS removed. Brembo does say that those M4 callipers should be matched with a Brembo RCS19 but the stock Nissin has great feel even though it's a Radial 17mm master cylinder. If you ride a non-ABS F3 800 like my Dad owns then you'll feel 1 finger responsive and powerful braking with a lot of initial bite like a race bike should have but perhaps too much for the road for some people. Btw you are welcome to ride my bike on a track if you want to feel it with the mods.
As a MV Owner of a 2016 MV Agusta F4, the F3RR maybe be a step up with looks & ohlins suspension. But MV are amazing bikes. Bought my F4 4 years Go with 1,600 miles, now has over 48k miles, bike has been super reliable besides the normal ware & tear. Great review of the F3, enjoyed the video.
Still love my Stock 2002 Kawasaki ZX9R. No fancy tech, no fancy suspension, no fancy exhaust, no fancy anything, just a motorcycle I enjoy and very much love riding. See ya in the twisties. 😁✌
Love my '04 zx10r too! More of a 'brutal' power curve. No goodies except a slipper clutch. The right hand is our traction control.. I always say: 'I won't be the fast on track but I have the biggest smile ending 3th'😂 I can still hold up with a 2017 panigale 1299s. He has a Kawa H2sx now so lets see what this will do. Im looking for a Aprilia rsv4 too but I can't let go of the zx10r.. had this one since 2010 and it was my middle school dream bike. Bought it when i was 20 years old. Tried the 04 r1 too but that one is nothing compared to the zx10r..

I own an F3 RR, I did make sure to watch the video in full before I criticise from the thumb nail. Just to get it from the get go, I have owned an MV Agusta F3 RC from 2021 which is a lot closer to the Rosso. Let me just get it clear about "parts/reliability." I have for one never had any issues throughout 20,000+ miles, not all parts are hard to come by especially when you know where to look. - I do agree with a lot of points, price point is expensive for a midweight sure - but you cannot ignore the extra bits of technology you get over a new CBR or a ZX-6R. You are buying a hand built street legal race bike, with a lot of character. - Whilst I understand your point with the rear brake, it causes no issues for me as I live in the UK and it never gets too hot here, there are relocation kits which move it out of the way for better usage. - Front brake, whilst it does feel a lot different from a normal sport bike - with time you do get used to it's quirk, I can show plenty of videos on track with a stock set up, out braking the top of the line 1000cc sport bikes with consistency. The master cylinder from stock on 2024+ RR does come with a Brembo rather than Nissin. - Launch control when you truly know how to play with it, is wonderful by design. - I am quiet surprised by your partners findings on being a passenger. The overall experience with the MV is usually not for a casual person - I think when you begin ownership of an MV Agusta you almost have to fall in love with all that the brand offers, as well as it quirks. It is an expensive brand to enter, but it does offer an experience which cannot be replicated by any other bike manufacture as I have tried and tried to find something else. I recently even sold my MV Agusta F3 RC 2021 for a 2024 ZX-6R from Kawasaki which after 2 months I decided to start looking for an MV Agusta F3 RR because I missed my missile, now I'm at a point where I never want to replace my beauty, the rawness of it, the smoothness of the engine, the quickshifter.. The handling of the bike, being so light and flickable with a lot of mid range power to pull you through anything is lovely. The complete package for me is irreplicable. If you are thinking of buying an MV Agusta, make sure you are in love with the product and not the specifications as it may leave you unsatisfied.
I own a 2016 MV Agusta F4 (Pearl White). For a long time MV always got backlash based on reliablility, lack in parts, dealer support & the price. I went into this brand doing research & was able to test ride one (2015 F4RR). & this brand is amazing. MV has definetly came a long way & to me it has definetly got alot more attention compared to 4 or more years ago before buying my F4. I love the brand for all that they do. Definitely worth owning. Mine has over 48k miles & i bought it at 1,600 miles. Still runs great.
I have this very bike and your points are spot on. It’s a beautiful bike and one should not get it if you are worried about parts and maintenance. So far it’s been a good bike. It’s a scalpel on the track and brakes feel fine to me. What sucks is the rear brake. Suspension has been adjusted and handled quite nicely, but I am no advanced rider on track. I’ve changed the stock exhaust out and sound ten times better. Launch control works flawlessly. Not quite sure why it didn’t work right for you. When you rev it, it should not sound like that. It’s sounds as if it’s fluttering and goes to about 9k. Great review!
This upper middleweight sport segment really needs to make a comeback. It's always been the sweet spot and it's sad there are not more options currently available. Hopefully the R9 reignites the usable sportbike segment and other manufacturers wake up. Beginner bikes and superbikes are both Honestly though, if this F3 came with a modern bosch ABS unit and a brake/suspension package similar to the current street triple RS, I would buy one tomorrow. But until something changes, it's hard to beat the most recent GSXR750, a model that was released 13 years ago.
I have an F3 675 RC and I absolutely love it! like you said this bikes have their quirks but the feeling of riding them is absolutely lovely. You should try the RC version with the race conversion it (that comes with the bike) and see the diferences, if you have the chance. love your work! keep it up
I'm a beginner rider with 2 yrs on my 450cc. Ive been in love with F3RR since the first day i saw it. Hopefully upgrade next year ❤ and not make another financial mistake 😂
Beautiful bike. I recently visited an MV dealership. I salesmen themselves told me the rumours ate true, what you get with any MV is a special feeling but they are nor reliable in the slightest 😂. I appreciated his honesty, and once im in a position to have 2 bikes, an MV will take the weekend toy space.
Still one of the best looking bikes out there - but, being a Tamburini design, that's no surprise. With the fork dive/brake problem, I wonder if the MV has dual rate fork springs? I had a similar feeling on my Ducati Monster, which had 43mm Marzocchis, and that turned out to have dual rate springs. A switch to linear springs improved things no end.
DAMN this video made me wanna go on a ride on my MV. Not gonna lie though I thought the F3’s brakes are one of the best I’ve ever experienced. I got an MV F3 Series Oro, and I believe it has Öhlins suspension? May be that’s why the brakes feel better? Either way, this is the most beautiful sportbike ever built!
There's a chance the one he rode had faulty a ABS pump or some other weird issue. With an MV you can't know if it's just broken or it just be like that (jk)
@@JoseLgamer05 to be fair, mine doesn‘t have an ABS so that might be it. My R1‘s brakes (upgraded with Armored hoses) are nothing compared the MV (armored from stock)
THE most beautiful SuperSport made today. I like the looks of the pipes on the earlier models better, just don't know if at 68 I could put up with the riding position. I'm spoiled by my 2014 Super Duke.
Got an my21 Dragster RR SCS n not had any of the issues you claim. Its a great mountain road scratcher, excellent handling, brakes and enough go in the motor. Sounds like you had a Friday bike to me.

I owned a 2013, not much difference, only QS up, and no tft dash. Loved the thing to bits, was just too tall (6 foot) so I prefer the F4, The F3 is like a go kart on two wheels, bloody awesome to ride
I would buy the F3 if it's flickable and twitchy as advertised. That's part of the reason I refuse to get rid of my CBR300R. Yes I know it's not crazy fast or powerful, but when you're squidding around town, it leans over so fast and it easily loses traction coming out of the corner when you get on the throttle. If it's like that but faster, definitely. Also, the 300 is the daily. Note: For the concerned among you, I've ridden an Indian FTR Carbon and an MT-07 at full speed and lean on fast and slow corners with rider aids off and wheeling out of the corners. Don't @ me 'cause I'm tired of the concerned telling me how dangerous that is on the street and highway. And yes, I should take it to the track. 😒 I haven't gotten to that yet. 😅 I would love to see a review of the MV Augusta Brutale Dragster.
Easily one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. On par with my former 1299 Panigale S. The engine is just too weak for a madlad like me. Wish MV would build this triple with as a thau. Would be an instant buy
buddy of mine has an F3, i didn't like it at all. For that price i would choose the Aprilia RS660 all day over the F3 and use the remaining money for mods. if the rear brake got a little hot it doesn't brake at all anymore. but anyway great video on your part with a perfect review
The daughter of a friend of mine 'inherited' an MV Agusta Brutale 1090 RR in a divorce. Her ex had dropped it and busted the front and rear brake levers and it was out of registration. She is disabled and needed to sell it but the shop was quoting crazy prices so I said I'd get it done. The AU$250 rear brake pedal could be gently bent back into proper shape. The front lever was going to cost AU$400 to get from Italy.The ball end was broken off, so I drilled a hole and fitted a small bolt with acorn nut, then built up a new ball end with metal epoxy and dipped it to match the black finish for a slightly shorter lever. I took it to the shop to see if they'd pass it for registration and they gave it the OK. At the time I was riding an Indian Springfield, a 400 kg recliner chair of a bike. I got on the MV and set off to get the rego done. It felt like getting on a skateboard with a V8 motor, and was like riding a race horse that wanted to bolt away from me at any moment. I'd never ridden anything so intimidating. However, I got it through the inspection and home again and back on my recliner chair Indian. That was the day I fell in love with the madness that is MV Agusta.
I think I would really like two motorcycles on the ends of your scoring spectrum to get a better idea of your opinion. Like if a 1390 ktm can be a 10 on fun factor what would be the 1 for you, but for every metric.
I think parts are easier to get now that KTM took a majority share. I love my RC 2019. Beautiful engine and so comfy for a race bike and i am a tall rider
Honestly, MVs are stunning! however, im a naked bike fan and also i dont have track experience so i feel the bike would be useless to me if i bought it i could though buy it just to put it as part of my garage or in my lounge as a ornament😁can you please do a review on the kawasaki z900 if possible. im really set on it and would love to hear your opinion. The biggest problem about f3 800s were their sprag clutch issues. If that part has already been redesigned and solved, then this bike would be perfect.
I had a similar issue you are describing with my aprilia. I changed the original brembo brake pads to SBS ones and the problem went away. By the looks, I think I have the same-ish calieprs. Maybe they went overkill on pad material.
I bought an F3 800 Ago brand new back in 2014, £19k! It was quite possibly the worst purchase I’ve ever made. I sent it back to the dealer after 3 months with a list of faults as long as my arm, 6 months later the bike wasn’t fixed. I returned it as not fit for purpose. The build quality was terrible and it broke down on several occasions leaving me stranded, even on the first ride, fuel pipe came off the tank! The braking issue was a problem back in 2014 and they haven’t bothered to do anything about it! I will never buy an MV product again.

Would I have one, my heart says yes but my old knees and wrists say no. I genuinely love the looks but having owned a GSXR 750 for a couple of years I found that it ended up been second choice to the Yamaha 900 tracer to many times because the tracer was way more comfortable.
I'd be wary of proposing that rear seat for any moderate amount of touring to the beloved pillion My CBR had more to show and 2 hours at a time was pushing it. It's a solo machine.
Mine made me go more often to the dealer than the hills for a ride! Wait until KTM have updated majority of the Italian crapy design from cheap chinese suppliers… it may take couple of years tho

I have almost 40.000km's on my F3. I also have an F4 and a Rivale, but the F3 is still my favourite to ride on a daily basis. Perfect bike for me.

Let's be honest. KTM hasn't gotten the best press lately regarding their feta cheese engine internals.
Their 1290 engine seems to have been bulletproof. The 790 and 890 have had some engines with camshafts made of peanut butter.
OK, enough of these disparaging remarks! The cams are made from chocolate, not feta. 😂

You buy a 1290 of a late model, you're most likely never going to have engine issues. You might have an electric fault, but that's about it.

- I do agree with a lot of points, price point is expensive for a midweight sure - but you cannot ignore the extra bits of technology you get over a new CBR or a ZX-6R. You are buying a hand built street legal race bike, with a lot of character.
- Whilst I understand your point with the rear brake, it causes no issues for me as I live in the UK and it never gets too hot here, there are relocation kits which move it out of the way for better usage.
- Front brake, whilst it does feel a lot different from a normal sport bike - with time you do get used to it's quirk, I can show plenty of videos on track with a stock set up, out braking the top of the line 1000cc sport bikes with consistency. The master cylinder from stock on 2024+ RR does come with a Brembo rather than Nissin.
- Launch control when you truly know how to play with it, is wonderful by design.
- I am quiet surprised by your partners findings on being a passenger.
The overall experience with the MV is usually not for a casual person - I think when you begin ownership of an MV Agusta you almost have to fall in love with all that the brand offers, as well as it quirks. It is an expensive brand to enter, but it does offer an experience which cannot be replicated by any other bike manufacture as I have tried and tried to find something else. I recently even sold my MV Agusta F3 RC 2021 for a 2024 ZX-6R from Kawasaki which after 2 months I decided to start looking for an MV Agusta F3 RR because I missed my missile, now I'm at a point where I never want to replace my beauty, the rawness of it, the smoothness of the engine, the quickshifter.. The handling of the bike, being so light and flickable with a lot of mid range power to pull you through anything is lovely. The complete package for me is irreplicable.
If you are thinking of buying an MV Agusta, make sure you are in love with the product and not the specifications as it may leave you unsatisfied.

I own a 2016 MV Agusta F4 (Pearl White).
For a long time MV always got backlash based on reliablility, lack in parts, dealer support & the price.
I went into this brand doing research & was able to test ride one (2015 F4RR).
& this brand is amazing.
MV has definetly came a long way & to me it has definetly got alot more attention compared to 4 or more years ago before buying my F4.
I love the brand for all that they do. Definitely worth owning.
Mine has over 48k miles & i bought it at 1,600 miles. Still runs great.

I have this very bike and your points are spot on. It’s a beautiful bike and one should not get it if you are worried about parts and maintenance. So far it’s been a good bike. It’s a scalpel on the track and brakes feel fine to me. What sucks is the rear brake. Suspension has been adjusted and handled quite nicely, but I am no advanced rider on track. I’ve changed the stock exhaust out and sound ten times better. Launch control works flawlessly. Not quite sure why it didn’t work right for you. When you rev it, it should not sound like that. It’s sounds as if it’s fluttering and goes to about 9k. Great review!

Honestly though, if this F3 came with a modern bosch ABS unit and a brake/suspension package similar to the current street triple RS, I would buy one tomorrow. But until something changes, it's hard to beat the most recent GSXR750, a model that was released 13 years ago.
I have an F3 675 RC and I absolutely love it! like you said this bikes have their quirks but the feeling of riding them is absolutely lovely. You should try the RC version with the race conversion it (that comes with the bike) and see the diferences, if you have the chance. love your work! keep it up

I recently visited an MV dealership. I salesmen themselves told me the rumours ate true, what you get with any MV is a special feeling but they are nor reliable in the slightest 😂. I appreciated his honesty, and once im in a position to have 2 bikes, an MV will take the weekend toy space.
Still one of the best looking bikes out there - but, being a Tamburini design, that's no surprise. With the fork dive/brake problem, I wonder if the MV has dual rate fork springs? I had a similar feeling on my Ducati Monster, which had 43mm Marzocchis, and that turned out to have dual rate springs. A switch to linear springs improved things no end.
DAMN this video made me wanna go on a ride on my MV. Not gonna lie though I thought the F3’s brakes are one of the best I’ve ever experienced. I got an MV F3 Series Oro, and I believe it has Öhlins suspension? May be that’s why the brakes feel better?
Either way, this is the most beautiful sportbike ever built!
There's a chance the one he rode had faulty a ABS pump or some other weird issue. With an MV you can't know if it's just broken or it just be like that (jk)
@@JoseLgamer05 to be fair, mine doesn‘t have an ABS so that might be it. My R1‘s brakes (upgraded with Armored hoses) are nothing compared the MV (armored from stock)

Back in the days it lost to the Daytona 675 in any of the variations the d675 existed. It was heavier and more unpredictable. But oh so gorgeous :D
My friend and I race on track with the Daytona and myself with the F3. They feel very similar. I still have to try the Daytona to compare.

I owned a 2013, not much difference, only QS up, and no tft dash. Loved the thing to bits, was just too tall (6 foot) so I prefer the F4, The F3 is like a go kart on two wheels, bloody awesome to ride

I would buy the F3 if it's flickable and twitchy as advertised. That's part of the reason I refuse to get rid of my CBR300R. Yes I know it's not crazy fast or powerful, but when you're squidding around town, it leans over so fast and it easily loses traction coming out of the corner when you get on the throttle. If it's like that but faster, definitely.
Also, the 300 is the daily.
Note: For the concerned among you, I've ridden an Indian FTR Carbon and an MT-07 at full speed and lean on fast and slow corners with rider aids off and wheeling out of the corners. Don't @ me 'cause I'm tired of the concerned telling me how dangerous that is on the street and highway. And yes, I should take it to the track. 😒 I haven't gotten to that yet. 😅

Easily one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. On par with my former 1299 Panigale S. The engine is just too weak for a madlad like me. Wish MV would build this triple with as a thau. Would be an instant buy
buddy of mine has an F3, i didn't like it at all. For that price i would choose the Aprilia RS660 all day over the F3 and use the remaining money for mods. if the rear brake got a little hot it doesn't brake at all anymore. but anyway great video on your part with a perfect review

The daughter of a friend of mine 'inherited' an MV Agusta Brutale 1090 RR in a divorce. Her ex had dropped it and busted the front and rear brake levers and it was out of registration. She is disabled and needed to sell it but the shop was quoting crazy prices so I said I'd get it done. The AU$250 rear brake pedal could be gently bent back into proper shape. The front lever was going to cost AU$400 to get from Italy.The ball end was broken off, so I drilled a hole and fitted a small bolt with acorn nut, then built up a new ball end with metal epoxy and dipped it to match the black finish for a slightly shorter lever. I took it to the shop to see if they'd pass it for registration and they gave it the OK.
At the time I was riding an Indian Springfield, a 400 kg recliner chair of a bike. I got on the MV and set off to get the rego done. It felt like getting on a skateboard with a V8 motor, and was like riding a race horse that wanted to bolt away from me at any moment. I'd never ridden anything so intimidating. However, I got it through the inspection and home again and back on my recliner chair Indian. That was the day I fell in love with the madness that is MV Agusta.
I think I would really like two motorcycles on the ends of your scoring spectrum to get a better idea of your opinion. Like if a 1390 ktm can be a 10 on fun factor what would be the 1 for you, but for every metric.
It's the master cylinder that creates the braking issue.
Swap it out for a brembo and problem sorted.

Honestly, MVs are stunning! however, im a naked bike fan and also i dont have track experience so i feel the bike would be useless to me if i bought it i could though buy it just to put it as part of my garage or in my lounge as a ornament😁can you please do a review on the kawasaki z900 if possible. im really set on it and would love to hear your opinion. The biggest problem about f3 800s were their sprag clutch issues. If that part has already been redesigned and solved, then this bike would be perfect.

I had a similar issue you are describing with my aprilia. I changed the original brembo brake pads to SBS ones and the problem went away. By the looks, I think I have the same-ish calieprs. Maybe they went overkill on pad material.

I bought an F3 800 Ago brand new back in 2014, £19k! It was quite possibly the worst purchase I’ve ever made. I sent it back to the dealer after 3 months with a list of faults as long as my arm, 6 months later the bike wasn’t fixed. I returned it as not fit for purpose. The build quality was terrible and it broke down on several occasions leaving me stranded, even on the first ride, fuel pipe came off the tank! The braking issue was a problem back in 2014 and they haven’t bothered to do anything about it! I will never buy an MV product again.

Brakes sound the same as on my 899 panigale, lever feels different every time you pull it. Probably the same abs pump.

Would I have one, my heart says yes but my old knees and wrists say no. I genuinely love the looks but having owned a GSXR 750 for a couple of years I found that it ended up been second choice to the Yamaha 900 tracer to many times because the tracer was way more comfortable.
The fuse box being right there for everyone to access, is a terrible idea for any country that has crime 😂

Have heard that theory before, if it was better with engine rotation in the opposite direction, the Japanese would use the same design but they don’t.

The R seems to be the current name for the Rosso. The RR has aero bodywork.
