Why did you slow down tempo in Exercise in Futility I? I liked it faster as in your song preview. But aside this great job, what i like most is that you add your own bits into it and dont follow the originals too much, unlike other plain BM synth covers on youtube! Keep it up!
In retrospect, the faster one might have been more energetic but the original tempo felt more heavy to my ear so I went with it (thankfully both versions do exist!) That is a great point my friend. I also don't like to just "follow the original" since I feel like covers should not be an imitation of the original but rather a new take of an existing song! Cheers!
Now I see why the trailer worked while other synthwave covers on UA-cam are boring. It was changed and edited to rather fit synthwave genre perfectly than be a faithful representation of the original. When taken 1:1 from the source it just doesn’t translate that well. It sounds like guitar pro tabulature cranked up to eleven with effects. This edit here would work if trailer version had been used for “I”. Slowed down and extended version is just not that effective.
