I saw this within the recommendations of the "nostalgic" video that I was watching. Wow, ganyan pala itsura ng Manila nung '89 😰 and were you staying at the former former Grand Boulevard Hotel? I live for nostalgia like these home videos 💜 I was born in 1991
I've only seen the interior of the Grand Boulevard Hotel (formerly Silahis Hotel) through a Filipino comedy movie "Pinay Pie". The last time I saw the hotel, it had become sort of an eerie shell with graffiti on the front and a lone security guard guarding the entrance. I don't know what happened now because of this coronavirus pandemic.
Napapansin niyo ba guys? 😍

It is so sad that Philippines used to be a prosperous and paradise country 30 years ago and stopped progress in coming 20 years since 80s. U can clearly see that streets in 1989 even cleaner than now. people are always questioning, what happened on Manila and what happened on this country that made such an advanced country decline to the suffering..
Marcos ruined the economy. Compare his good first term to his second term, during which he and his cronies hijacked the government so he could stay in power and bleed the country dry. From the 40s-60s we had a solid economy, when he declared Martial Law in the 70s that is when the Philippines began to slide into poverty. Crime, corruption, and malnutrition became major problems that further exacerbated our economic woes. By the time Cory Aquino took over the government was technically bankrupt, so the country had to start from scratch. And because it is easier to destroy than to rebuild It took another 4 decades before our economy could bounce back. Unfortunately, the current administration is once again neglecting our economy.

I was 0 years old when this was filmed...
I was not yet born when this was filmed.
Im in my father ball's in this year. Lol
Me.. I'm 8yo that time...
Same age here...
Beautiful Manila in the 80's..so much memories especially with my late dad used to work at CCP and Folk Arts Theater...nice upload enjoyable to wacth!
nice sharing thanks
Thanks for watching
We all have our time machine those that take us back called memories, and those carry us forward called dreams
youtube is my time machine!
I think I heard that quote from the movie "The Time Machine".
right..
Matthias Kronqvist.
But dreams are kind of a blur. It's better to have a footage of a very detailed event than some blurred clips on our minds.
12 years old ako nito. Missing the 80s. Best time of my life.
Man I wish i lived to this year.. Gusto ko kasi fashion nila 70's - 80's...
I was 9 years old when this video was taken, and yes it is very nostalgic. I can still remember stealing Sunshine green peas inside a Garapon on my mothers tindahan.
Thank you for sharing. Watching this kind of video is very relaxing.
Thanks for watching 🙂
Very nostalgic, 3 years lang ako neto 1989. And we're residing in west rembo makati that time.
Ive notice the almost non existing electrical lines and clean street going pass luneta and jose rizal... Looked better than today. 😳
@@Ken-uf2se back then naman, mahirap talaga buhay, kahit saan.
Poverty nowadays is still prevalent especially some areas in Manila City. Today the population of NCR (12M+), most of us are in the Middle Class but the wide gap is still very noticeble. The government need to focus on housing and job opportunities for us to have a sustainable development in the country. #skl 😊
Underdeveloped dati, economy is down after the Marcos admin even with the Aquino,.

I saw this within the recommendations of the "nostalgic" video that I was watching. Wow, ganyan pala itsura ng Manila nung '89 😰 and were you staying at the former former Grand Boulevard Hotel?
I live for nostalgia like these home videos 💜 I was born in 1991
Try watching Len Enders channel. Pero its about an American teenage life back in the 80s
Silahis Hotel as it was known back then
I've only seen the interior of the Grand Boulevard Hotel (formerly Silahis Hotel) through a Filipino comedy movie "Pinay Pie". The last time I saw the hotel, it had become sort of an eerie shell with graffiti on the front and a lone security guard guarding the entrance.
I don't know what happened now because of this coronavirus pandemic.

If we could only turn back time
I would, but without the smoke anywhere trend back then
Manila still look like this
wrong time to travel back to. mas ok nun 1960's
@@SpoiledZoey even earlier 20s to 30s before WW2 under US commonwealth. Manila was regarded as the Paris of Asia.

Napapansin niyo ba guys? 😍
Walang masyadong pinag-iba itsura ng manila noon at ngayon

Our current house was still a forest here in Antipolo, Rizal this time lol
So nostalgic, I am only 10 year old that time. Life is so simple, I live in Cavite but I love Manila when I was in college till now that I am working already. Thank you for uploading.
Time flies
Makes me nostalgic for a time when I wasn't born yet. This is the perfect capsule to show how fleeting life is. Many of these people, vehicles, animals, roads, etc. are long gone and soon we will also be encapsulated in clips for the future to see, and by then, we're also gone.
this is so cool! i wish u could upload more pf ur dads old camcorder 🙂

@@nightvisiongoggles thank you for your such detailed explaining, it's good to know what happened here in the past half century , history always reminders the people to reflect their mistakes for the lessons. God bless Philippines!
