you need to try a v50 2.0d sport it has a bit less power but higher torque specs, My traction control in the wet is just an orange light on the dash while my wheels spin lol then when you calm it down I get 50 mpg, Volvo's often get overlooked for projects as the parts like suspension upgrades(bilstine) can cost close to £2000 and there are not many aftermarket parts for them.
I remember reading that the police spec T5 has 302mm disks up front. Also they have D5 front suspension. The D5 is heavier so they'll sit slightly higher and the back end is self levelling. This was to allow police to drive quickly over speed bumps etc. Interesting car.. 😉
The thing with buying an X police such as this is that it been serviced regularly and well maintained .and although it’s done over 200k miles most of which probably driven on motorways it’s been driven properly by an professional advanced driver
Yes bro - been looking forward to this! The RS3 is nice - of course - but this sort of low-budget, leftfield stuff really does it for me 😂. Hope to see a similar path followed to the high mileage Golf - good to see a car of this age and history getting shown some love.
Great project! Strongest t5 engine ever with great potential. I will share the link in a big dutch Volvo forum. About upgrades: You can go crazy on them.. Start with all new sensors; lambda, airflow sensor, etc. And on upgrades: Bigger intercooler Bigger down pipe Tme catback (great sound) Remap This wil give you 300hp easy... First rule of fault finding with codes is ALWAYS treat the codes as a symptom and not always the cause!! You will save money if you diagnose faults the correct way. The steering angle sensor code (which ever one you have) might just mean that the steering angle is out of calibration for the position of the steering wheel. It doesn't always mean the sensor is faulty. Get yourself a Foxwell NT530 for Volvo and this will be the best bit of kit you will buy for the car!! If you want to learn about fault diagnosing etc then there are a few i can recommend. 1. South Main Auto 2. Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics 3. Scanner Danner 4. Wells Vehicle Electronics
I hade one 6yrs ago and I can tell u for a fact my car was brilliant it was chipped by police it was beautiful well maintained of course my son adnan loves it ❤️❤️❤️
I had a 1998 V70R when it was 2 years old. Had it RICA chipped and loads of upgrades. Go it to330bhp and topped out somewhere(!) at 185mph. Best car I ever had.
I can't wait for the next T5 videos, my dream car is a Volvo S40 T5 SE Sport so it's nice to see a UA-camr that I enjoy watching have so much fun in a T5. Hope you have a good Christmas!
As an ex police car it does have one major plus in that for the bulk of its life it hardly ever got started from cold. Brakes and suspension even though high spec will have been replaced likely more than once in its life. Looking forward to see what you do with it.
"I'm going to get carried away aren't I?" Ya dude - they get you hooked. Be very careful about selling it because these are the cars you will wish you still had 10 years from now when they will be impossible to find at a reasonable price.
And that's exactly what happened to my Dad. He used to have a very nice green 850 T5R saloon, and for some reason sold it to a friend of a friend who ended up neglecting it and then selling it on to some idiots who eventually wrote it off. When we had it the car was lovely. Owned by an ex Volvo employee and in very nice condition. To this day that keeps him awake at night 😂 He also offered me first refusal on his friend's (ex police officer but his private car) S60 2.5T last year which had stacks of paperwork with it. I didn't need a new car and it got sold on, and now I wish I had that 5 cyl sound back in my life.
I had a twin turbo D5 one, ex Thames valley. Bought it at 3 years old with 150k on it. Ran it for 6 years and it cost me nothing , only tyres and a couple of bushes. Best car I ever owned.
My V70 T5 is a manual with 263k. I’ve just rebuilt the entire suspension circuit with all new arms, Sachs/TRW shocks and Eibach springs. I flipping love it! Pulls like a train, feels more than 241hp! Need the 17” Comet alloys from the R then I’m happy...for now
No no, it'll cost serious money to get the front tyres to hook into corners the way you'd want for track days. A smooth running 160mph grand tourer with a mean engine note that'll pull nicely between 60-100+ is where this car can give the goods. And there's room enough to add some comforts inside, like a coffee table or whatever.
Truth be told, stuff like this is what a car channel should be about. Looking forward to how this plays out. P.s I ain’t big on volvo but that wedge shape is my face.
Hell yes, love the T5’s! Hearing the engine sound I just can’t picture the police driving about with that low rpm exhaust note. Defo needs a louder exhaust to unleash it fully.
Still loving my 2003 V70 T5 SE that's on 174K. Geartronic not manual but that's what I wanted for commuting in the city. The 330ft/lb of torque and mid-range boost still brings a smile to my face. Police spec'd larger brake discs than those fitted on earlier models (and I think mine has the larger discs from the factory). Front wishbone poly-bushes sharpen up the handling. I had Koni FSD shocks and Eibach lowered springs fitted all round. It was a popular combo with amazing handling on smooth roads but I found the ride terrible ride on bad surfaces and they ruined the ground clearance so I put the Nivomat self-levelling rear dampers (expensive mistake) and stock springs back but kept the front FSD's which I think are great. I fitted a Jetex Stainless Steel Exhaust which definitely gives more and has a great exhaust note. It is slightly boomy at lower speed but then I'm an old bloke....(the original exhaust lasted 160K miles and 15 years) The 2.3 was considered the stronger block as it has thicker walls so can take more boost/power. I thought the original 5-cylinder in the Focus RS was the same block bored to 2.4 but with a smaller turbo. I look forward to seeing what you do with the car!
@@OriginalgEdi have the earlier engine t5 with the shitter rods just want to know what its safe to push it to power wize ive been told 300bhp is about the max else ill shoot a rod through the block🤣
Proper nice cars these mate - I had a 2001 C70 2.4 Turbo and the noise was something I always enjoyed. And the seats. I always wished I had a T5 manual though, I say keep this one going and give it a good home.
Not into German cars myself but the T5 brought me here! Great buy and plenty of life left in her! That is indeed an R charge pipe (metal instead of plastic) on there and the V70R bumper will go straight on, if it’s off an S60R then you need the whole plastic frame behind which costs around £90 from a Volvo dealer and it’s brought in from Sweden. And yes there are many variations if the white block engine - the B5244T3 in the C30/S40/V50 T5 is the same engine as the Focus. Keep her as a sleeper for sure! Like your presentation style dude 😎

They did 3 different T5 engines with the higher horse power. 2.3 2.4 and 2.5. The original 2.3 is a strong lump. The 2.4 260bhp is the newer engine. The 2.5 R lump is fairly strong. The focus st 2.5 lump is different, and ford messed around with it and ruined it, hence the need for block mods. The earlier ones did suffer with throttle body issues, but being a 2007 it should be on the newer type. S60 / V70 bits are interchangeable. Steering lock is pants on them, 5 point turns everywhere. Real good build quality, and definitely a car to be in if you have a crash. I do miss my S60 T5. Great content Hamza 👍
Great video bro! My V70 is the 2.5 AWD. I was surprised what it was capable of when I first drove it and had to buy it. I would suggest EBC Red stuff pads for your brakes. As for power, tuning is really impressive in these Volvos. You got yourself a new subscriber!
If it seems to stutter on boost, be VERY careful as you have boost issues, so do not keep your foot planted as you could be a rod! I had the same and it was the boost control valve and pipes.
Anti skid service required message is the abs control module failure Volvo tell you the whole abs control module and pump needs to be replaced at mega bucks but they can be separated and the module repaired. Lots of repairers available if you Google them.
Had one of these 8 years ago. It had a custom cat and 3" custom resonated exhaust system fitted with stage 1 tune was quick enough for me and sounded similar to the RS3 Audi. Sold it for an almost new Audi A5 2.0tdi so I was clearly having a bit of a crisis at the time!
I've got the S80 D5 SE Lux which I bought cheap. Until I watched this video I had no idea what DSTC meant! I also have the same skid warning light but I didn't know it could affect the day to day handling of the car. Thanks for educating me!

I cant belive that a old 2007 volvo with 200k miles and costs only 1500 quid makes anyone this happy, that's 1500 well spent even if you boght this car in good condition for 3k it still be worth, then buying a new car for 20k which still have issues and goes down in value. This what I love about old cars, people think new cars are the thing but no old do have more fun too.

This model t5 has the 4t5 block, came with a k24 already
Scooby was a great car for the channel that's what I first started watching 😋 miss how it could have gone..
Would love to return to a scooby again, that one just wasn’t feasible to repair unfortunately!
