This entire UA-cam page is designed to display our progress as we learn and grow. The music in this was made in the early stages of this development. WE KNOW ITS NOT PROFESSIONAL…so if the music is a issue for you, turn it down or turn it off.

Loved Tiger Stadium. Saw a game there in 1998 as part of a Midwest ballpark stadium trip. The sight lines from the upper level were absolutely incredible.

In the summer and fall of 68, between graduation at MSU and going to Pensacola for flight training, we would spend $3.00 and sit in the center field bleachers, upper deck, have a beer and hotdog and watch the “show” on and off the field. Great times, great up close field and to top it off a World Series win.

We did the same in the summer of 86 & it was still only $5.

You mention $3.00 for fun. As a kid in the 1970s Dodger Stadium was the same way. Nowadays $3.00 at a sports venue anywhere in North America won't even get you a soft drink.

It was a HUGE mistake to tear down Tiger Stadium, it should have been refurbished as was Fenway Park. Tiger Stadium was a classic ballpark as there was no bad seat in the park. Just a huge mistake to tear the Stadium down.

I agree it was a huge mistake to tear down Tiger Stadium, just as it was to tear down Yankee Stadium. All of these classic ballparks are the victim of 21st century greed.

The original old parks all had a feeling. It was nostalgic as soon as you walked in! It made them each unique. At Tiger Stadium you used to be able to get in early and get autographs from all the players who were out warming up. Now its like you have to set and appointment with their agents and buy an autograph. Baseball is nothing like it used to be. High dollar cookie cutter Stadiums are garbage. No history. Keep it

As a Tigers fan since I can't remember when, it was so long ago, this was sad. I had retired and left Michigan before this tear-down occurred, and I only attended one game at the new ball park after Tiger Stadium was abandoned. It just wasn't the same at Comerica.

    • @sharktoestudios

I loved the old stadium, but have grown to love Comerica as well. It’s the privilege of aging that we experienced both.

I attended a game there in 1961; on a rainy Friday evening the Tigers played the visiting Twins. I was 15 years old at the time. I forget what inning it was when Rocky Colavito hit a violent, vicious line drive that hit the left field roof facade, just missing clearing the roof by no more than a few inches. The sound of his bat hitting the ball sounded like a high powered rifle.

I'm not sure if it was the first or second time I went to Tiger Stadium, last day of school June 1968.
Took the train from Lansing, Dad picked us up at the Michigan Central Station, saw the Tigers come from behind to beat the Indians. Seems like it was a Mickey Stanley HR.
The next day we got to take the boat to Bob Lo!!!
    Good memories indeed.

I remember the 1971 All Star Game, when Reggie Jackson pulverized a pitch and hit the rightfield transformer. What a rip.

At Tiger Stadium you were right on top of the field, both upper and lower decks you were close.. CoAmerica the upper deck is about 100 yards farther from the field then the lower deck.. it’s like miles from the playing field.. CoAmerica is a beautiful stadium, but for watching a game Tiger Stadium so much better

I loved the old stadium. Never a better day then when the grounds crew let me in to take some of this video. However, Comerica is BEAUTIFUL and I love the architecture of most of the new ballparks. I’m happy I was able to experience both.

We tore down Tiger Stadium to replace it with Comerica? Throw away Cobb for thiis? It's a crappy ball field but in a better location by today's standards. Nothing more. Detroit is notorious for building new stadiums. I'd bet the demolition crews are already placing bids on this junk stadium. Only in Detroit can we throw away our history to repace it with scrap.. Well, I feel a little better, Chicago and NY did it too. There's company I'd prefer to not be a part of. I hate the Red Sox, but congrats to them for remaining true to the history of the sport and the fans.
