No way Morelos is coming back. Not a player Clement or Koppen would would want, especially considering how he played in his last season here and his poor showing at Santos. Beyond that, he doesn't have the kind of temperament that Clement would tolerate.

The chances dessers has had this season morelos would be at minimum 10 goals ahead of him and that's outwith scoring in a old firm game. Dessers numbers are outstanding for a guy who struggles to score the most simple of goals but had he finished half the chances he's had had then there wouldn't be a Rangers team 3 points off the top of the league we would be ahead of that mob. Do you think if there was another fit out and out striker he woukd have played as many games he has? If dessers leaves or gets sold at the end of the season he won't be missed.
Alfie was at one point valued at 15-20m euros, you bring him in free then get a season out of him and sell him, at least you easy get 5-10m for him if he proves he is willing to work hard. Nothing to lose in my view.

The fact we are struggling for a striker that can bang in 20 goals a season would be handy but he has had his time. Things would have to get desperate to sign him. I believe there is better out there.

Disagree, when Dessers scores they are usually pretty nice goals. Also, I don't see how 20 goals is pointless.
That's just his first season, and it was a tough time to join the club, incredible amount of expectation and pressure. He has demonstrated a good mentality and mental resilience. Personally think he will rack up the goals next season.

Personally I would not want us to go back in for Morelos, not because he wouldn't be able to do a turn for us both in the spl and also Europe, But because due to his past history at the club teams already know which buttons to push to get him to lose his temper especially those at Celtic. The last season he spent with us we as fans dont know exactly what went on behind close doors with players that were forced out of the club because Beale didnt like them on a personal basis (for example Sakala ) There is every possability that Morelos would have loved to have stayed, but Beale refused to discuss a contract extension and made it clear he had no future under him, we just dont know, but due to his temprament and how his facial expersions made him look like he was about to blow a fuse if things didnt go his way I dont think he would be a good fit. On the other hand at no point did he ever go down as if to have been shot in the back with a McMillan TAC-50 when inside the oposition box
He also has a history of not being in the mood if he is not number 1 striker & if we're needing more than 1 then i would hate to think morelos would be the first choice option of who we are maybe bringing in & him being number 2 doesnt work well with him so he's no worth the hassle again. If Morelos returns, I would love to see his redemption arc. But I don't see much wrong with a move to the J.LEAGUE for him. I am very familiar with the league as a fan of international football. There are lots of South American players in Japan, Hulk playing for Tokyo Verdy back in the '90s being the most notable. It's a very competitive and unpredictable league with a high skill level and the best in Asia, on-par with Ligue 1 or the EFL Championship I would say. Yokohama F. Marinos beat Celtic 5-3 last Summer, Cerezo Osaka beat PSG and Man City, Urawa Red Diamonds won the AFC and got to the CWC semi-finals. Morelos's linked club, Kashima Antlers, nearly won the CWC against Alex Ferguson's Manchester United side with players like Ronaldo and Rooney, only losing to a narrow pen with a 2-1 lead. Ange Postecoglou was the Yokohama F. Marinos manager for two and a half years, winning two trophies and now manages Tottenham in the Premier League. Former Gers player Kevin Muscat (now at Shanghai Port) won the title for Yokohama F. Marinos in the 2022 season.
It's far from a tinpot league, there is a reason why Japan produces so many good players compared to the rest of Asia. Their league infrastructure is great with very passionate fans. Sadly, the J.LEAGUE doesn't get the respect it deserves because it's not a European UEFA league. I would go as far to say that it is objectively better than the SPFL in every metric from competitive skill to matchday attendance. Most local Scottish teams here would struggle to compete in the Far East. Probably a better move for Morelos imo and could lead to him regaining his strength as a player + maybe a spot back on the Colombian national team. Perfect league for a striker, could see him becoming a goalscorer again. It would take a ridiculous amount of effort to get a tune out of Morelos in a current Rangers squad but it isn't impossible. It's obvious he wants to be loved and he has the drive to do so. I think he'll look back on his failure move to Santos with regret and let that motivate him.
Blue-tinted glasses aside, I would rather we buy a proper new striker, either Shankland or Miovski, rather than looking back on old players who peaked during 55. Nothing against El Buffalo, but he thought he was too big for the club and nosedived back to reality. Either he rots at Santos in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B and retires early, reclaims his career with Kashima in Japan's J.LEAGUE or picks himself up by the bootstraps and redeems himself with a second-spell at Rangers. Philip isn't the kind of guy to give into fans nostalgia, he's an ambitious manager who wants to build a legacy. I just can't see Morelos coming back any time soon unless our transfer budget is waifer thin. If he does, great! If he doesn't, best of luck to him.

Morelos as a top player is over at the age of 27, he’s hardly kicked a serious ball in 2years, fitness is a big problem and I’m afraid any football he plays in the future will probably be back in his homeland to a second division side.
