Happy Thanksgiving to our viewers in the US! Hilarie and I are trying to take it easy this week. We hope you enjoy this video, and have a relaxing Thanksgiving with family & friends.
Thank you for the memories. As a baby, Grandma would be put me in the cab of the tractor with Grandpa whenever I was fussy. I'd be asleep in five minutes. I rode with Grandpa for hours. 68 now and it makes my eyes water a bit thinking of Grandpa and the tractor. Thanks again.
Tractors hold special powers. I lived in an apartment when my first two kids were born, and I had my grandfather's farmall cub in a storage unit...some jerk set the place on fire, and I lost some things, but the tractor was OK. Problem was, I had nowhere to keep it. My landlord was an old country guy, and he didn't care if I brought it to the apartment and parked it out back. No battery, but it always crank started easy. I used to take the boys for a ride at nap time. The oldest one first, then when he nodded off, I would carefully hand him off to my wife, and she laid him down, then handed me the youngest boy to be tractored to sleep. I drove up and down our side streets until they drifted off and then back to hand them off to Mama, park the tractor, and head off to work. Great memories.
@brucesumner6993 and I forgot to add, my oldest son. Who was three or four at the time, wanted to sleep with the crank to that tractor. Not a plushy stuffed bear, a steel tractor crank.
Nothing quite as sweet as the smell of a new plowed field. Used to sit on a little hill and watch my Grampa plow his fields with two old mules, then he was able to buy a tractor, it was a small Farmall. I remember him telling gramma that the first few rows he plowed he yelled Whoa! at the end of the row! 😊 Loved my grampa!
THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORIT THINGS; WATCHING OLD TRACTORS RUN , WATCHING COWS GRAZE, AND PETE PLOWING. I SIMPLY REMEMBER MY FAVORIT THINGS AND THEN I DON'T FEEL SO SAD.
Brings back memories. Dad trusted me to do plowing at age 10 with a Minneapolis Moline ZA and a 3 bottom plow with no hydraulics, so yanking on the rope. Learned to always look back to make sure it tripped. I was too small and light to change the setting for plowing the headlands so tripped the plow putting the moldboards on the ground, then could release the lever lever moving the much lighter wheels to the right position. Eventually graduated to the UB diesel and a 4 bottom hydraulic plow. Then the M670 propane with a 5 bottom semi mounted plow. Was amazed to be able to plow a swath as wide as the tractor. Happy Thanksgiving.
@@nathanchambers1006 As wholesome and satisfying, for sure, but definitely "different." One can even (believe it or not...) cultivate an appreciation for cow manure. Practicioners of the art say that it "Smells like money to me..." On Pete's videos one can al--most smell the earth. The good, properly-cared-for earth.
I always plowed the headlands in conjunction with the last few rounds of the field. You didn't have to "deadhead " over plowed ground that way. It was a big "no-no" to leave wheel marks in a plowed field.😃😃
I love the commitment to old equipment, if it can be fixed, fix it and give it another day. I wish I had the knowyour engineering know how, Pete! Thaks for the videos
I remember many a day sitting on a wide rear tire fender, hanging on while plowing fields. Such great memories...of hot fenders on a little behind in the summer. lol Thanks for the ride down memory lane Pete. By the way..those diesel horses sound great!
Been watching for years. Just put cattle on our operation-started calling them with "C'mon girls!" After 3 weeks they come right along. Thank you maestro - keep doing what you do.
We all think a person needs to go to school and hear a teacher speak to get a education, now we know that watching and no speaking we can learn too,God bless and have a wonderful day
Denny, in an earlier video he explained why he decided to use the mold board on it, the ground was in terrible shape, and needed to be turned/redone...
Plowing is a lost art in the US. We haven't done it for 10 to 15 years. We did the same thing, plowing up an old pasture. Had to borrow a plow and fix it before we could use it. Great job. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
I’ve been playing catch up, your channel is great.I also have a farm and I’m picking up a lot as I watch.also I think the videos on the tractor restorations are super interesting anyways I’ll be watching
Truely a timeless video😌 I remember watching videos like this with my dad on old youtube when I was a kid 15 years ago😊😊 Thanks for the nostagia trip Pete😀😀
I so enjoy your program, it reminds me of me and my Dad plowing his 1 acre garden . The smell of fresh turned soil I remember so well. Thanks for all your efforts to bring this video to life for all to enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving 🦃!
it is very pleasing to me to see and hear that old iron work, that's farming the way my family did it, we raised corn & hay, took it to the feed mill, they added what we didnt have and we came home with fresh ground feed in burlap sacks I even remember how sweet the fresh feed smelled
Pete happy Thanksgiving to you and your family I grew up with my uncle doing what you are doing. You are living my dream while I am held captive in front of three 22 inch computer monitors.
Thank you for the video, P&H! Grampa passed in 1964 and plowed his Kansas homestead with horses his entire working life. Best to all throughout the holiday season!
So wonderful to watch. Simple man, simple machine, doing a simple job...IF you were taught well. We just witnessed an icon of a dying breed and lifestyle, and darn it, it shouldn't be that way.
I gotta tell you Pete. The sound of the tractor, the scene of plowing, just EVERYTHING brings back SO many memories for me. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Hil and the kids. Oh and dad.
The soil looked to be just about right in moisture to fully break up when turned. I always liked it that way when I plowed. Now, I no longer plow as I have native grasses and relatively native ground. I love seeing this!
Classic Farmall speaks to me really well. Thank you Pete! I give thanks that you take the time to produce such great content. Happy Thanksgiving to the whole Larson family.
That Ole John Deere plow was doing an awesome job of flipping over the sod. Sure beats walking behind a team of horses! Field looks nice. Hope ou and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving. God bless.
Hillary, I thought it was just beautiful that you acted like a supervisor in the lawn chair. Did Pete follow your guidance? Keep up the great work. LOL
Ahhhhh the smell of the newly turned dirt is amazing . Watching you use the Farmall tractors takes me back to my childhood (I’m 67 ) . Happy Holidays to you and your family and God Bless you .
I miss the smell of fresh plowed ground ... Back when I was young , it was common to plow your fields every fall... When I was 15 I bought my 1st real tractor . It was a Massey Furguson 165 diesel . (I think) I loved the rythm of the diesel at work... Some of my fondest memories are growing up on the farm... Happy T.G.
Hi Pete and Hilliary! Happy Thanksgiving! I love to watch that good earth rolling over. The sight is almost hypnotic. Will you leave the field open all winter and finish in the Spring? b.t.w. I clicked on this video 37 seconds after posting.....it already had 87 "likes." !!!!!
Good job of plowing Pete. For someone that hasn’t done it in a few years and with old equipment. I really enjoyed watching you doing your farming. That some of the equipment my family had back in the 60’s. May you and your family have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving Sir.
I'm thankful for you and all your expertise and time in putting together and sharing this and your other videos, along with the explanations and insights you share. As an old farm boy, I love to hear engines working while plowing. I agree with what you've said about needing coulters. They, along with some adjustment, would make pulling easier and make for a better job and a cleaner furrow.
Well Hillary and Pete Happy Thanks giving.. ha.. It was always fun for me to fix thing that are old or need building and then use it.. It’s nice you are into it too and using old equipment in a proper way.. The plowing went well and can tell you are happy by the big smiles.. Working hard is great and makes us all feel so good. Doing nothing is boring and you both are never boring.. Thanks.. 👍☺️❤️
You're giving us the silent treatment,LOL😁I've been away and just noticed all the changes (work) you made, looks really nice. I'm glad you decided to plow. Especially, with bottom plows, you're in heaven. Everyone, wish you a " Happy Thanksgiving"
There's something really satisfying about watching the earth being turned over in nice straight lines. I did turn down the sound a tad. Well done, Pete, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from Canada.
Started plowing at the age of 10 with a john deere B pulling 2 - 14's. We also had a Farmall F-20. Long time ago,but you bring back good memories. Mark
You look like your having fun plowing pete done a few acres in my time roughly 400 acres a year i started out as a young boy my father put me on a 8n ford 2 bottom plow and that took for every as farm got bigger went to 6 bottom plow looks like nice dirt
I wouldn't care if this man did nothing but make mud, I'd watch him. Don't know what it is but, it's just enjoying to watch what he gets into. I really love this channel, not a bunch of nonsense. Happy Thanksgiving Sir to you and your family. 😊❤

Happy Thanksgiving FF!!
Yep just the sound of red power
"crops are green, tractors are red" 😎
@chriss5010 correct
The drone of those engines running under load is divine.
well, almost, if it jus' wasn't fer that dang "smoke-stack" pokin' outta the top, it'd all be "gravy" from "here, on" but....
Wow! Hilary is a real trooper walking the field so many times for the shot.

Me. I am 78

Once and a while it's great to hear just the natural sounds of farm life in the country. Thanks!
So cool. Brings back memories of plowing when I was a teenager. A couple years ago. I'm 78 now. Ha

Like how we do with my ZB.
Hey rich, I have a 1967 Moline M670 super LP gas, I love that tractor,, it's awesome !
I miss those days of being on a tractor, plowing and smelling the aroma of fresh plowed soil.
I can smell the fresh turned soil😊
It's awesome isn't it? Almost as good as fresh cut hay.

@@theburnhams2925 my father was a cattleman his whole life. He could tell you a cows health status from their manure.
I thank God for local farmers like you! Happy Thanksgiving Pete, Hillary & family!
This brings me back to when i was living on my grandfathers farm in New England. He worked on tractors for 60 years . He sadly passed in January.
back in the 1970's we used our Farmall IH 450 to pull 3 bottom (17's) plow...love the channel! It brings back great memories
Good ole classic farming style!
It must be so satisfying to plow a field that has not been plowed for so many years. I was mesmerized by this video! Thank you.
When he's plowing you can see in his face that he's in his element. Pure joy.😊
I always plowed the headlands in conjunction with the last few rounds of the field. You didn't have to "deadhead " over plowed ground that way. It was a big "no-no" to leave wheel marks in a plowed field.😃😃
I was thinking the same thing. It looks like a lot of wasted effort to drive over freshly plowed ground.
It looks like your GPS was working good, looks like we're going to have a Rock picking party after this.🎉
I love the commitment to old equipment, if it can be fixed, fix it and give it another day. I wish I had the knowyour engineering know how, Pete! Thaks for the videos
There is no no-till, min-till, that is old-till! Nice work!

Even though I have not done any farm work for a long time, it's therapeutic to watch the Red power work the field.
Thank you Pete. Something about plowing a field. Love the old machinery. We no til our Farm but the process of plowing is visually enjoyable.
Denny, in an earlier video he explained why he decided to use the mold board on it, the ground was in terrible shape, and needed to be turned/redone...

If I was say 25/30 years old I’d adapt your farming techniques almost 100 %. Thankyou for your posts and sharing of info.
The 756 has a nice growl when working. I look forward to seeing how the drainage project works out.
Grandpa used to keep a bucket of used motor oil to coat the moldboards to keep them from rusting.
Thanks for all your videos Pete. Enjoy seeing you and Hilary going about your chores on the farm.
We had a Farmall 450 diesel with Heat Houser to stay warm great memories

That rear wheel reminds me of a wheel on a shopping cart! 😂😂
Your shopping carts must be made by the same company as ours in France. :o)
Love seeing that tractor work I know a guy that has A 1056 with cab use’s it every day
Have a Happy Thanksgiving Pete and Hilarie. Look forward to Sunday. 🇺🇲💪
