My 1st trip to T & T was 1991 for Carnival. So much great music. I was so fortunate to get to enjoy soca tunes that I still love to listen to, from great artists like Tambu, Duke, Barron, Becket, Shaddow, (Swallow my favorite), Sparrow, Riki Jai, Byron Lee, Stalin, Denyse Plummer, (got her autograph), United Sisters, Machel Montano, etc., etc. Went to Calypso Spectakula in ‘91 and back to Carnival ‘93. Roy Cape & band, Tommy Joseph MC. Wow, so much talent in that Island nation !! That is why I have the nil name, “Socamann.”
Carnival 1991 was the best ! My 1st trip to T&T and it was a P-A-R-T-E-E Tambu, Duke, Stallin, and so many great talents...Add doubles at 4:AM chicken roti and a cold carrib...that was livin !
This is what real soca music, sound's like, unlike what we are hearing for Carnival 2011.what we are hearing now is apoor copy of the jamacian Dance ahalll, amusic
@pokankant Very good observation !! although i am a member of this generation and i can sympathise (i cyah help it..it written in our DNA) with todays "soca" music..i have to call a spade a spade and say that compared to soca music of years gone by...today's soca is utter shit !!
