If you cook your lentils and add them to hamburger you can stretch it to make taco meat or filling for lasagna or spaghetti sauce. I also make a lentil soup that uses lentils, potatoes, carrots and onions. Bouillon powder or broth. Salt , pepper and coriander and a little garlic. I add a little butter or olive oil to add richness.
Also just cut the carrots thin and fry them in a skillet like you do with fried taters as a side dish.

I know I'm late on this video, but there is so much to do with those potatoes. Potato cakes, you can take a 1/2 of the pack of the meat and make a hash. However, you can take a whole bag of those potatoes and cook them for 1 minute, then bling then and make home style potatoes for breakfast or soups too. New subscriber 😊

Potatoes will store no problem for a month so will just take you through til the next food pantry :)
I usually have boiled potatoes with steamed veg and a protein, leek and potato soup, Shepards pie with soy mince, cheesy potato bake, shred them to make hash browns, love potatoes so much 😅

For the most part, yes! We will have to get these used up sooner rather than later because they are starting to go moldy. Since these are "out of date" items that the stores get rid of, we have less of a timeline than normal.
      Great ideas for the taters!

Potatoes: 1Potato2Potato- bake potatoes. Slit potatoes and mash insides, add butter salt pepper,. Put all potatoes on a cookies sheet, top with cooked veggies (broccoli cauliflower carrots, mixed veggies etc). top with cheese. Can also add bacon, diced ham, sliced up deli meat or leftover meat if protein is a must. Grew up eating Potatoes with vegg and cheese when times were tight-very filling meal even without a meat.

If you do up the potatoes mashed with milk butter salt and pepper you can put them in baggies and freeze them after they have cooled. When I thaw them I put them in a frying pan with a lid and cook them slowly. They will get juicy looking but as they warm the magic will happen and they will be as good as before. After they have gotten hot I like to let them brown then flip them over and put cheese on top or just serve them. I have saved many potatoes from the pantry by doing this.

You can add or take away stuff to make it to your tasting it’s very good though!

Good morning beautiful friend ❤ You got some really great items!
You could do chicken and lentils
1 tablespoon olive oil, 2 pounds bone-in chicken pieces, 1 large onion, finely chopped, 1 small carrot, finely chopped, 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped, ¾ cup dried lentils, 1 (14 ounce) can chicken broth, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 (10 ounce) can tomato sauce, ½ teaspoon dried rosemary, ½ teaspoon dried basil, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat, and cook the chicken pieces 5 minutes on each side, or until juices run clear. Remove chicken from skillet, and set aside.
Place onion in the skillet, and cook 5 minutes, until tender. Mix in the carrot and garlic. Stir in the lentils and broth, and season with salt. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer 20 minutes.
Return chicken to skillet. Cover, and continue cooking 20 minutes. If the mixture becomes too dry, add a little water to just moisten.
Stir tomato sauce into the skillet. Season with rosemary and basil. Continue cooking 10 minutes, or until lentils are tender. Stir in lemon juice, and serve warm.

I work at a restaurant. So yes, bake your potatoes. Refrigerate over night then five for cottage fries! Great way to stretch your food. I use lentils to stretch hamburger or sausage. Also chicken and lentil tacos are good. Or do a multi bean soup with chorizo for meat. I wonder if soaking chorizo in milk will draw some heat out. Those carrots are like the deer carrots I buy and can! Also I’d do the catfish as a “tuna salad”

@SodbusterLiving I love curry because you can put everything in it. When I was a nanny for an Indian family, grandma would often use drumsticks in her curry for the meat. Lentils are often used in Indian cooking, so it will just bulk it up and you can use less chicken. I usually use some mix of butternut squash, sweet potato, chickpea, zucchini, carrots, and bell pepper in mine. Some form of tomato and Garam Masala are the key ingredients to a good curry, I think.
I was actually going to make a chicken lentil curry for a video series I'm doing this week!
