In the thumbnail, you pointed to the backside of the head as being clay, but what about all the other parts of the bust? Where's the red circle? I'm so confused and can't understand.
Sorry for the confusion, the entire head is clay.. there are videos on my channel talking to my wife and sculpting the head. This is the third video in the process
It’s a large head and silicone is both expensive and not great for the environment. Doing this type of mold is more material efficient. There are ways to make the shell first and then pour into it so it’s still a thin wall, but I haven’t tried those yet, and needed to move fast as the clay was getting too dry.
@darien.a.j I believe when they make silicone molds of clay like this they enforce the outside with a harder material so it doesn't deform. Silicone in a thin layer like this is good for picking up all the surface details but not great at capturing the overall form. There are some really good videos on UA-cam demonstrating mask making and sculpting using this method. I believe it's called a silicone master mold
Your voice and narration is very nice
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it. :)

Why didn’t you just submerge it, just wondering

Did you mean to put like 5 minutes of black? Is part of the video missing? Or is this gonna be a 2 part thing
Oh no, I didn’t realize I pushed a clip out to the back when I was editing. It was supposed to fade to black and then end.

@ yes this is true. I made the mother mold out of plaster gauze. But I wanted to get the video done and was still working on that in the studio.
@@darien.a.j @stuartbray has a pretty good video of the "brush on process" from like 4y ago if you're interested
