- Great news in Palmanova, Mallorca. I arrived for the opening of the Olive Tree Restaurant, Palmanova, Mallorca. Let's check out the restaurant and see what's on the menu for Summer 2023.
First I start my walk from the pier in Palmanova and give you a quick resort mid-March update as I walk behind Son Matias Beach and along the promenade to one of the most popular restaurants in Palmanova as it throws open its doors for the season.

My favourite restaurant too, if only there could be a UK version I would be there everyday!
I think they need to start a UK chain! It would go down well on the high street (espeically if they could include some sunshine too!)
Love the start and the end of the new season and for over 30 years been driving down to Estartit in costa brava with the odd quicky to majorca buzz at the start and the start partying at the end ,allways something to look forward too xx 👍😎

I love your videos Alex and as a result of your hard work my wife Jill and I are in Cala D'or September for a week and incidentally also Lanzarote and Tenerife for a further couple of holidays - all of them booked and paid for.
However, due to the Spanish Government and the general EU attitude towards us Brits, together with the levies and taxes being imposed - I am determined to only holiday in Countries that welcome us and want our money in the future.

Hi Shaun, I'm so sorry to hear this. Call me cynical, but if they drop the tourist tax, it'll be incorporated somehow when you book your holiday and you won't know about it. Trust me, the businesses here very much welcome tourism and people coming to the island (our taxes to pay here are also eyewatering). Ps. I'm sure you'll LOVE Cala d'Or and really happy to help with your decision making!

Oh The Olive Tree! I have not been there before but it looks absolutely amazing! I keep hearing about it and I definitely have to go there next time I visit the island! The food looks incredibly delicious! Thanks for sharing this video! I am feeling like I should probably cook something healthy for dinner now rather than grab a microwave meal!

Brilliant Alex as always, Going to alcudia in june health permitting, But also please warn people in the uk that the passport offices are going on strike for more than a month from the 3rd of april to 5th of may, Yes 5 weeks on strike!, I realised my passport needed renewing last week so hopefully I will get mine back in time, So please people if you need to renew your passport this year get your application in now.
I've just been reading about this! I did warn them in my February travel update, but I'll be making another video soon for sure. So many strikes in the UK at the mo!
Looks fantastic, we’re going to Porta Polllensa in the middle of May, can you recommend any restaurants in Pollensa or the old town, as we’re staying in a between both.
Hi Maureen, I'll be down in Puerto Pollensa as things start to open up. There are so many lovely restaurants over there, it depends what you like!

I seen a small octopus in the water at Santa ponsa it's the only one I've ever seen

@@MallorcaUnderTheSun that same day I was feeding small fish and some guy seen what I was doing and started tearing up a baguette in the sea to feed them aswell but it attracted bigger fish that bit his finger lol I have a video of it and the small octopus
This restaurant and most of Majorca is relatively expensive, probably 50% more than the mainland or the Canaries. You're looking at c. €50 per person for 2 course with a drink, which is a lot if done regularly.
Hello - it really depends where you eat and what you eat. You can get a menu del dia here for around 12€ still which is fantastic value. I rarely spend more than 20€ in restaurants and I often don't drink either which makes it cheaper.

Good luck with getting a table. If you try a reserve during the day for evening, the manager tells you sorry we don’t reserve and to come along in the evening to get a table. When you arrive in the evening, you’re greeted with you need to reserve a table beforehand along with an unconvincing look that you tried to reserve earlier in the day!
Hi
The Olive Tree do have a reservation system so that special occasions can be assured of a table. These are usually booked at least a week in advance, and when these tables have gone we leave
a percentage of tables open for ‘walk-ins’. If someone arrives and they haven’t booked then we will do our best to fit them in but it’s not always possible no matter how hard we try.
We apologise if we gave a mixed message on this occasion and hope it didn’t spoil your evening
