While the full mfr price is higher than I'd pay, I greatly appreciate the detailed review of Velocio, especially since George (and friends) are the real deal with distance riding, where the wrong kit (especially bibs) can ruin an aspirational ride- whatever that distance/time/challenge may be for an individual. Based on this review, I would consider a pair to break out for a few "big rides" each year- also a nice psych boost for a challenge ride. For me, I have a couple pairs of high end bibs that so far work for me that I "save" from wear and use on my longer rides and use the mid-level mid-price for 90% of my riding which is generally

I like high end bibs, never had Velocio but curious how they perform, better be stellar for $300. i have purchased Rapha, Sugoi< Endura and Assos bibs in the past, hunting for deals around Black Friday.

As a larger woman, I never had quality women's clothing in larger sizes (I had to buy men's which never fit right). Finally a quality brand for us bigger folk! I love Velocio and have been using their bibs for several years. I did have one pair that had stitching come loose. They replaced them no questions asked. Glad to see you're carrying them.

I purchased a Velocio bib+jersey set super discounted to try the brand. I find them quite nice, but need to do some more rides in them to determine if I'd spend for another pair. Out of everything I've ridden, Ornot and Mission Workshop are my favorite as far as materials, fit and features. They are also primo for off-bike clothing.

I have not heard of Velocio or wear this brand. I usually wear Rapha and Assos.❤

Love the color of those bibs George!! Solid black can get a bit boring. As an endurance rider I know you are always looking for long term comfort. But for some of us who say ride 3 hours as a long ride I wonder if there might be another option as we don’t seek century comfort. Would love to hear about their other bib shorts too. Great unboxing!!!

Hello Chris, thanks for watching! I talk about high end, but just like every other clothing manufacturer they have bibs at different price points. Personally, I don’t wear bibs low end clothing. Life’s too short to anything but the best a company can offer. I review top end because I personally wear top end. You can always purchase their lower tier bibs from me though 😉

Never heard of that brand. I'm very happy with Assos so no reason to switch.

    • @SeeYouUpTheRoad
      @SeeYouUpTheRoad  11 місяців тому +1

Yep I’ve worn Assos for 20 years. No one is asking you to switch silly 😂 anyways personally I’ve been moving away from Assos over the last few years because their chamois is getting so thick it’s ridiculous now. I wore the Assos top tier bibs over the weekend and I remembered why they’ve been hanging in the closet the last few months. The Velocio chamois is not so bulky. I rode them today and they felt great. One of my favorite fitting bibs are from SQ Labs they have a very thin chamois with reliefs in the pad that compliment the SQ Lab saddle.
One more thing if I continue to ride my leather saddles and I feel I can start doing the longer brevets on them then I am definitely not wearing Assos as the chamois is too thick, it’s not necessary, and it will bunch up.
      Thanks for watching

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad I don't have that same experience. I like the thicker chamois because it has provided more comfort for longer rides. I don't get to ride everyday like I used to so I have gone soft. If I am doing a ride over 30 miles I also use the Assos chamois cream. I have been using a Berthoud leather saddle and that thing is hard. I like the look of it but I think it may need to go. I wish I could get back to logging lots of miles but work schedule and rainy weather needs to change. I just signed up for Rouvy so maybe that will make a man out of me again.

ha ha I’ve gotten soft as well over the years 😂
My GB saddle has broken in nicely! I could ride that saddle now in board shorts. 😂
I think some day I might check out Rouvy. That’s the one where you ride really roads/rides virtually right? I don’t like Zwift

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad Jan said the saddle fit like the "proverbial glove", so I suppose it would be wise for me to keep riding mine and break it in more. That bike is awesome, I can see why people were admiring it, they know when they see something rare and beautiful. I don't get that same moving effect with todays modern carbon bikes. Thank you for sharing that link. I love looking at these kind of bikes.

When you said 300 bucks, i was about to fall off the chair. And then I started thinking i didn’t fall off the chair when forked out over 10k on my
bikes. 300 bucks out of 10k is only 3% of my bikes. 😂
If you wanna play you gotta pay.

I guess I have been in this game far too long. I don't see anything wrong with spending money, lots of money, on the three contact points between you and your bike: 1. The handlebar 2. Saddle/bibs 3. Shoes everything else is BS :-)
