Aidan I have some huge shoes to fill. I'm currently playing trombone at my community college. Due to Covid, our lead player was laid off of a huge opera position in Sweden, and he moved back here so that he may pursue a career in medicine. Well, that job in Sweden got another opening, so naturally he's trying out for it. If he makes it he won't be here next semester, and my instructor is going to make ME play lead. I don't know how to feel about it, I was always able to hold my own in high school but I was never really placed in such a crucial leadership position. Plus I'm leagues below the guy who's leaving us, he made all state on both Trombone AND Euphonium, I was never able to make it past 2nd round. I do hope I get the position, but I'm also nervous as to how it'll go. In any case, I hope it goes well. Also, congrats on your new Laeztch! It looks and plays beautifully.
After your NAMM report years ago, my dream .547 is a Courtois 420bh just from hearing your description. "This is the end... The last large tenor you'll ever need to buy" or something along those lines.
A lot of my "dream horns" are trombones for some reason. I was lucky to have one of them given to me by a good friend/mentor, a Conn Constellation 48H. It was his old horn from his High School days and it had definitely seen better days. He passed it down to me, I got it fixed up, now I use it for jazz. Aside from that, I one day would like to get a King 4BF.
1.) Way to rep the WWU Vikings! 2.) After stumbling across your channel and watching a handful of videos, I have one request....Play more! You sound great.
F contrabass trombones come in two tunings, generally- American tuning which is F/Db/C/AA, or German tuning which is F/D/BBb/AAb. They are pretty wildly different valve tunings, so it's not easy to go back and forth, which is why it's very lucky I found one in German tuning.
I've only seen a couple on the internet. I have a friend with one. Never seen one or played one in person though. They were mostly a costly option in the '90s.
You deserve it!! This instrument looks amazing
I probably don't super deserve it haha. But it does look amazing!
So fun to acquire something you have dreamed about, and something you can use. Great combination. Enjoy!

Nice conversational video. Would have been good to have posted a link to the specific manufacturer of that contra bass.

I'll be honest- I didn't go there, but it's my grandpa's alma mater. I'll gladly rep!
More playing incoming!
So happy for you! Contrbs... Congratulations!
Exceptional! Congratulations.
Congrats!!! Making me drool
whats the difference between a bass trumpet and a valve trombone?
If you check out my past videos, I have a couple about exactly that!
What do you mean by German tuning? You said F fundamental?

Congrats on the new horn!!! How rare are the 42R bells? Im curious now haha. Plus 42R is the MOS for Army Band.
