I have a mother wound, as the oldest, labeled as ungrateful, selfish, etc as I tried to “be good” while mother navigated her two abusive marriages. Not nurtured it’s taking time and through therapy am finding nurturing self and healing. I Am NOT crazy as labeled by family. I believe God has another report. I am His workmanship. I have a garden within, God will give the increase ❤Dr Anita. Met her at the Potter’s House. Have the book too. Thank you two!!😢❤❤Safety❤Cultivating, processing

Thanks so much, Oprah and Dr Phillips for this wonderful approach to these deep subjects with the infusion of the Lord. I'll be purchasing this book within a couple days. I don't buy many books anymore; shame. What wisdom, light and hope the wonderful doctor imparts. Looking so forward to all of this soul search...I've been trying to add to my legacy for over fifty years, since I was a kid. Thank you both, ladies, for making an awful night
    enlightening. Blessings to you both.

I have the emotional trauma of not being seen and loved at home especially by my mother because I was the good girl, focused and all so all the attention was given to others and it hurts, parents never understand. Thank you for this ♥️. I still struggle to love, almost emotionally unavailable in relationships , I think now my 7 year old child is teaching me to love because she has so much love, loves cuddling a lot, it's so beautiful to watch her Love so much 🤍.

Hearing Dr. Anita present a different perspective helped me feel validated and seen. Allowing these tears to flow is so freeing...😢❤🌷

I find that feeling feelings until they release brings me joy. In the past I suffered from depression and found mantra meditation helped me. I would write down my negative thoughts and come up with a positive mantra that was the opposite of my negative thoughts. I would focus my mind on my breath and repeating my positive mantra and any time my mind wandered bring my focus back to my breath and my mantra. I did this 45 minutes a day 5 days a week for a year in a half changing my mantra weekly. After a few weeks of doing this I was feeling much happier and calmer and after a year and a half I had a lot more positive thoughts about myself.

Great interview and greatly needed. I love how Dr. Phillips talked about being vulnerable. We are so apt to push those feelings back. I think this is why so many people are hurting because they have stored up pain that needs to be released. I remember when my mom died, I would do my normal stuff, grocery shopping, and tears would be flowing. It made so many people uncomfortable. They would say oh my can we help, are you okay? I would say no, I'm not okay, but I will be. I just needed to not stuff it, or stay at home because I might cry. It is so freeing when you can cry when you need to because, for me, it hurts my body when I need to cry and I don't. Thank you, Oprah, for having Dr. Phillips on your Podcast.

I love this episodes. It validates what I've always felt and thought about being human, and how we should be human to human. What I'm still bothered by though are the cultural constraints that people encounter when they express emotions such as anger, hurt, or sadness. They are often labelled as negative and shunned. That I believe has led to many people withholding their emotions and inflicting self-harm.

Dr. Phillips gave the message at Zion church in Maryland. I really enjoyed it. I’m a doctor in counseling psychology and alcohol and drug counselor and yes we are taught to teach, change your stinking thinking first. I truly agree with her connection she explains of how God created us. Thank you so much for this. ❤
