Man he's one of the greatest all blacks who never was, the dude had so much talent, yet the All Blacks didn't develop him enough, dude was a beast in the black jersey
You mean he never improve? The All Blacks tells you what you need to work on to be a all around better player and if you dont sorry there other option in the pecking order
@@31titan70 He was killing it in the SR. He never was AFFORDED the luxuries like other players like MORE all-around centers bought to ABs. Still I think him not going to 19 WC was one of the reasons why we lost. We lacked a STRONG, CONSISTENT DOMINANT BALL RUNNER in the centers and England exposed us which is a fact. Ngani provides bucket loads in that area and people that say Ngani is one-dimensional are undervaluing his kicking and passing game immensely. Just because the options ahead of you are MORE ALL-ROUNDED doesn't make you one dimensional
he's class. he was well on the way to becoming another Ma'a Nonu. The early days of their careers they were just battering rams but Ma'a turned into an excellent passer and kicker ...Ngani was getting there too. But Ab rugby is moving away from specialists and going more for those utility player that can play anywhere in the back line.....NZ's loss. His playing style will do well in Europe ....he puts bums on seats which is what they want
Not really, the centres are specialist centres. You rarely see them playing anywhere else unless there is a glut of injuries. He looked up and saw ALB, Goodhue, Ennor, Havili, Fainga'anuku, Umaga Jensen and Ioane and realised he's not set in stone as first choice 12. And when he broke his arm and was out, he realised 1 injury could be the end of it. He's young and he's got a young family He is being paid $400,000 nzd per year more in France than he was offered in NZ.
Yeah, Ngani was developing those other skills nicely and it was only a matter of time before he was going to break out an an all-round international class player. Akira Ioane was in a similar stage of development as Ngani and you can see the benefits of persevering with him.
@S MM No, that's right, and although they are utility players, they are unlikey to make the squad because they aren't specialists in any. Havili did convert, because although he has played multiple positions in 1st grade, he needed to specialise and commit to the centres in order to make the team. If you have a specialist who can play in other positions, then of course he is more valuable than a specialist who can't. New Zealand don't play utility players over specialists though. They play specialist utilities over specialists, which every team does.
Khan Unu Even with Havili seemingly taking over the 12 jersey rn, OP’s point is still valid. Laumape is a game changer, if not as a starting AB, most definitely as a sub. NZ rugby letting him walk so easily is ridiculous...
@@gajemoederpesten he had his time and unfortunately could not cement his spot in the team he was given his start...look at it this way the all blacks are good at letting players know when they have fell down the pecking order therefore they are able to go overseas ,Europe Japan and chase big money contracts rather than staying in nz battling it out for a spot
He’s better off there in reality……his families future is pretty much secured now…..he wouldn’t get that on AB salary!!…….guy is still in his prime too which is beneficial to his financial position…….I wish him all the best and hope he gets to have another crack in a Black Jersey again but I severely doubt it…..the depth we have in NZ keeps coming through the junior ranks and into a Black Jersey faster than we can blink lol
@@bronzemen34 Yeah, we've got a quality crowd of players vying for a gig in the midfield. I think ALB is the best of the lot and going to be around for a fair while, and then Havili's making a good fist of it, Goodhue to come back and more coming through. Hope they ditch the idea of playing Ioane there though, he's not a centre- got no vision or ball service, he's better just being a finisher.
As much as I'd love for him to return to the Hurricanes the fact that NZR offered him a pay decrease makes me want him to do the best thing for him and his family. I hope he carves up in Europe so NZR can learn from their mistakes.
Promising start to his career up here. Let's hope it continues and potentially improves! Will the AB's miss him? They don't seem to be atm, but that will change if they lose both games to SA, which seems likely as they've had no strong opposition since Foster took over!
Dam my new fav 12 gone overseas.. I thought he was rehabbing.. and havili just holding the jersey, I reckon ngani 12 and havili at 13 would of been a great combo
Good player who made a good decision to go to France. He wasn't quite good enough for the All Blacks, and David Havili is now having much more impact at 12 than Laumape managed.
Obviously he doesn't "need" any such thing, or he would've stayed in NZ! And the AB's seem to be doing ok without him............If he improves as a player, in France, his stock will keep rising. But if NZ keep winning without him, they won't care!
Him & Clarke should start over Lienert-Brown & Bridge. They both are so weak cant gain good line & offloads. Idk why they both still start in AB squad.
Not sure what the fuss is about. Made minimal meters, and more mistakes than not. Was always a one-dimensional player and never seemed to show the resolve to adapt his game at the international level. A lot of interviews seem to show he has a big ego and thinks he's too big for the team he's at. Hope he learns how to be a better player and man.
Looking like he found a good spot for steak 'n cheese pies. Few more of those and he'll be dropping to single digit jerseys. Forget the ABs - the Warriors need a good 13.

Sometimes he could be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or some other player is preferred over others. It's unfortunate but it happens everywhere.

good debut for Ngani hope he goes well over there
Average proformance, he was out shined by his opposition fickou and vakatawa all game
Decent start….once he finds his feet he should be rolling people
Good for him the all blacks don't use him enough i still remember when he was left out of world cup
Goodluck young man !
The most underrated player in the world. Should be a starter in All Blacks
💯💯
Damnnnn the bro hitting it up against the tight five. Earning your paper, bro.
Congratulations Ngani
Living your dream
Laumape ran straight through a pod of forwards 💪🏾🔥
Why the All Blacks allowed him to leave is beyond me. Hope this is just a stint and he heads back home. Good runs otherwise on his debut.
Can't compete with the money that is getting offered overseas.

They dont seem to worry too much about forward passes over there. Atleast it looks like that on film.
THAT TACKLE ON CHAT🥵🥵🥵

A great player a tragedy he is not playing for the AB's. What happened is he chasing th bucks?
Seriously is that referee watching he called tackle when he had only made contact before he busts though on the last highlight.
He said "d'accord" which more less means "all right" not "placage" which means "tackle"
Camille Chat got smoked tho
I watched the whole game.
What disjointed, club-rugby level play it was. Boring, flat play. Let's hope Ngani's skills aren't wasted in this comp.
He's trying to find his form again
