As a Villa fan of 40 years I don’t think of ever experienced such a turbulent period with as many peaks and troughs. Though I am keeping my positivity and genuinely looking forward to the game, I’m slowly becoming more excepting of “it is what it is” re: the result, I just want to see passion, effort and a performance (the opposite of what I believe Felix would bring tbf😅) UTV
Celtic fan here, doing a bit of opposition reconnaissance.
It's interesting to read the general sense of trepidation in the comments. In your chair, I would be far more confident than many Villa fans seem to be. Perhaps that's simply overstating the inferiority complex which fans of Scottish clubs have vis á vis EPL competition. Perhaps I'm underestimating the general sense of pessimism that comes with being a devoted fan of any club.
Objectively, a lot of things need to go right (or wrong, from Villa's perspective) in order for Celtic to win or even draw. Referees decisions, uncooperative woodwork, a fortunate bounce here and there - and maybe the Bhoys stand half a chance of getting a result.
Your best bet is to bully us, especially in the midfield. We are not a particularly physical side, Carter Vickers (who is a rock) notwithstanding. If McGregor isn't permitted to be the ringmaster and distribute wide and through the channels, we're doomed.
If you break our high press and make CalMac gun-shy, it will be a long night. If you allow us to swarm your back line and allow CalMac to be the maestro he is capable of being, we can give you problems.
My heart says Celtic 2-1, scoring twice on the counter. My head says Villa 3-1, possessing a decided statistical advantage throughout but not getting the third goal until late in the match.
Best of luck and enjoy the game
Hail hail

It's funny.. we've been poor most of the season and Celtic are only 1 point behind us in the CL... yet people act like Celtic are a league 1 side
Rangers outplayed Spurs and Spurs lucky to get away from Ibrox with a draw and lost to a stoppage time goal away to Man Utd with a 2nd string, some English fans are just ignorant when it comes to the Old Firm, both clubs absolutely dwarf most clubs in England but don’t get anywhere near the revenue from their league, Rangers and Celtic would spank every league one side at least 5
@Glen-z7jPretty sure Villa are not playing Rangers, so you point is pointless.
@@patrickreade6119 The point is Rangers are pish Celtic aren't easy .
@Glen-z7j I'm a celtic fan & there's a massive difference between they 2 teams & villa. Villa are a good team especially at home and get nothing but respect from celtic fans.
Celtic are only 1 point behind because they got by far the easiest draw in the competition. Half of their points came against the two worst teams in the competition, who have yet to earn a single point. Villa will beat them comfortably.
Celtic fan here. Should be a good game and id say most of us don't mind Villa. Emre has you playing some good stuff and it's been fun to watch. I think Maeda being out is huge for us as honestly not sure who will start there. But we do have a good record against English teams and we seem to have fixed our away record a bit minus the hammering in Dortmund. Got a good draw away at Atalanta and also a good draw in Zagreb (which really we should have won). Can see a tight game due to your defensive issues. We have pace and our midfield is decent plus we are already through and have nothing to lose in this game (technically we can still finish in top 8 but its almost impossible). If i had to guess a scoreline maybe 2-1 Villa or a 1-1. Plus we are used to playinig european football, champions league and europa league, so the atmosphere wont be a problem plus i reckon we will have a big support down in Birmingham.
Should be a good game. 2 great clubs, both already qualified. Looking forward to it HH 🍀🍀
Celtic not having meada and kyogo and ccv hopefully it can be a Atalanta type performance 0-0
I absolutely love the villa and I try to be positive about everything to do with the club, but I do feel this season I’ve shifted back to “dreading to watch us play” rather than can’t wait, take on the world experience of emery’s first year.
Back him 100% and I think squad size and PSR are the reasons we are fatigued and not able to play 100mph any more.
Celtic's away record in the champions League is absolutely horrifying with only 2 away wins and many heavy defeats. They are playing with maeda suspended, carter Vickers injured and kyogo sold. Aston villa are strong favourites tonight.
I really don't think yous realise how good this celtic team is. Maeda, hatate, mcgregor, Carter-Vickers, johnson would all get minutes at villa and kuhn would be a starter.
I'm not saying we don't win, but they've lost 2 games across all comps this season, which includes 7 champions league matches.
The biggest hope is that maeda isn't playing, but their press is still usually really good. If we play digne cb, they will press us, and they will score
We will be weakened just sold kyogo our top forward n maeda misses game as carrying red card from last game
Overated imo
We just lost kyogo though. Cant see anything but a villa win
Maeda is suspended and they have just sold Kyogo.
@@Jay-f6z4eyes was a wee bit confident of maybe managing a draw but not now we lost those 2 for the match. Some might think they are overated but they are really important for way we play.
I think some graphics would have helped follow the permutations and requirements of tonight’s games, for me anyway.
Have to try and explain things as best we can, most of our audience will be listeners only so obviously graphics irrelevant to them
Very much looking forward to this game. Have been since the original draw was made. I do believe we’ll win and finish in the top 8 as we’re strong at Villa Park under Emery. So far we haven’t conceded a goal at VP in the CL this season. I’m sure the atmosphere will be amazing and the players will raise their performance levels.
I admire the optimism. Fingers crossed!
Im in ellis lower tomorrow right against the wall, im hoping for a massive atmosphere, holte end we need you, 😊😊
Playing that version of Gangsta's Paradise on the outro properly got me fired up for the game a whole day early now! I'm going to be sat at work now singing chants at my co-workers. Singing Sacked In The Morning to the next person going into a HR meeting might make for a challenging conversation later. UTV!
Coolio was a Celtic fan ☘️⚽🍀
😂😂😂
We just sold our best striker, our second best winger is suspended and our best defender is out injured, yous should probably beat us but definitely don't underestimate us, we've went away to a really good Atalanta side and dug out a 0-0 draw whilst missing players, there's no reason why we couldn't do the same tonight.
We need a positive result tomorrow to get us going again as our season is looking to be derailed atm
I’ve never felt so unsure of a game, honestly I’m worried we won’t win with how we’ve been playing
At the start of the campaign our only concern was to finish in the top 24. Now it appears it would be a disaster if we don’t finish in the top 8. Get a grip folks.
We are REGRESSING……our performances have been dire. Our board ( never mind the supporters ) won’t be accepting these performances like you do…….
@this podcast is about the European campaign in case you hadn’t noticed. We will finish comfortably in the top 24 and with a little luck in the top 8. Not bad for a dire side.
@ Fair enough, but as I said, not progress. I know plenty of supporters who are VERY unhappy with our current performances ( including me btw ).
Our owners aren’t people who accept mediocrity.
@@lestrem11 No you’re right, 4points off top 4, though to the next round of champions league, still in fa cup, all this when we are playing dire. Can you just imagine when we play well what we could do ? You say our owners won’t accept mediocrity? So, if you were the owners right now would you sack Uni ?
Idiot
My phone connection at villa is horrendous, im with giff gaff, so serves me right 😮
I think we'll win. If Bogarde isn't trusted at CB then he should sit alongside Kamara in front of a back three. Plus Celtic have a suspended winger and no Kyogo, so 3-0. UTV
Is there any chance that Villa sell Jhon Duran in the summer for £70-80 million in the summer and sign Jonathan David from Lille on a free transfer? Davids career progression has been much smoother than Joao Felix and he would surely command lower wages than the Portuguese .From my point of view signing Felix would see Villa repeat the mistake they made in the signing of Coutinho .Maybe Unai is the manager to unlock Felix's potential but it's a massive risk to take. Is David not the much safer bet? Do Dan and John see David as a realistic target for Villa even if we miss out on the Champions League for next season? What does everyone else think?
gonna be a lot easier for Villa than it could've been. Maeda missing due to red card... lucky cos he'd have destroyed your right back. Kyogo off to Rennes... so we've only got Idah up font who hasn't set the heather on fire... maybe he'll put in a good performance though. Carter Vickers has been our rock in defense and he might not play either so playing a weakened Celtic team. Gonna be a good game for both sets of fans though.
I'm surprised the game isn't on BBC Scotland or Alba. Suppose I'll just have to rely on a dodgy stream again! 😄
Celtic have only conceded 1 goal in 4 games including a clean sheet away to free flowing Atalanta but are missing CCV Maeda n sold our striker before the game but should be a cracking game #COYBIG
Maybe Emery has now realised that Digne isn’t a centreback now…….😵💫
Celtic will be playing like demons against an English Premier league side. I expect results to go for us and then we fail to get a win on the night. Always expect Villa to fall at the smallest hurdle. 😂
Surely not! 😂
nailed it lol that’s so villa. couldn’t even beat bottom of the league last year to go top at xmas lol
@@ClaretBluePod long time Villa supporters have known a lot of disappointments.👍
Celtic aren't as fussed about this game as we're through & the usual Scots v English thing isn't as hyped up. We knew it'd be difficult but now 3 of our top players are out I'm just hoping for an absolute classic CL game and not a borefest.
Playing Digne at centre back for improved build up and attacks is an arrogant approach that we'll regret imo.
I feel better for watching this guys, still nervous as it’s got banana skin written all over it. Either way can’t wait for the game - dreaming of a Watkins hat-trick and a McGinn tap in 4-0
For me Celtic in Scottish league do well and not to be underestimated
GF 64 GA 11
Villa
GF 34 GA 35
Now UCL we have seemed better than Celtic
Villa GF 9 GA 5
Celtic GF 11 GA 10
So they have the best defence and keeper where we lag in the prem but in UCL we just a tad better
Just hope we can win for top 8 but we need to be on form
UTV
Celtic have the advantage of playing farmers and fishermen most weeks in their league though.
Goals against for celtic was result of horror away match against dortmond when we were absolutely spooked. Don't knock the farmers league......hard working lads!! 😂
@@jambodownie6622 Ha. Fair play to the graft.
I think we need to go into it thinking a win gets us top 8 as I do think Atalanta will drop points at Barcelona...
Celtic are coming to win this game! Btw, if Celtic go down 1 goal, they'll come at you harder! Celtic does not stop.
Celtic will be missing maeda and Kyogo which is massive tbh
Monaco and West Ham were horrible games. If we turn up like that tomorrow,Celtic are gonna smash us.
Think Lookman is out injured for Atalanta, so wont feature vs Barcelona, but we still need to do the job against Celtic, UTV!
Digne at centre half again? No non non non no
Think Durán’s brain is mulch at the best of times but what must it be like at the moment? Is he in any fit state to play thinking he might be off to Chelsea or PSG in a few days?
Iv been villa supporter, since 1967 first match Rotherham at home, they have all ways been the same?.
Celtic were 1st British/Northern European team to win European Cup in 1967.......wish we could get that team for wed we would walk it!!😀
Villa fans don’t half panic. Villa will beat Celtic. We are at home and Emery will demand this one. Villa 2-0.
At times like this I miss Tony Butler! Football was a lot simpler then, wasn’t such a emphasis on European games either. Don’t like the fact you’re dismissing Celtic
It’s not about dismissing them, it’s about backing Villa to win a must win game at home to keep going in Europe’s elite competition. I don’t think that’s wrong
4-5 easy win won’t get beat by that nonsense in that league !
And despite that the Scottish champions will finish above the English champions in the champions League!
All the games we need to go are way are extremely unlikely to. Barca might not even field a decent team
Stick a bet on then, 4 results won’t go against us in my opinion. You’ll make some decent money if you’re right!
This has got a loss written all over it.
The Celtic press will trouble us so it will be very close i think a draw
Celtics two best pressers are missing and there best defender is also now out with an injury today. Villa will never get a better chance to play celtic.
You're being very dismissive of Celtic here. If Celtic hadn't drawn at home (a game they dominated) against Brugge, they'd be above Villa and going for the top 8 spot
I see it as very pro-Villa rather than anti-Celtic
Aye me too plus I prefer clubs thinking Celtic will be easy, Culture shock when it isn’t.
Brugge were far better than Celtic in the first half. Maeda's goal that night came from a rare Celtic chance
@@wonjubhoy Celtic had more than enough chances to win that game, if not for the OG they would have
Probably lose this one also !
I’ve never felt so unsure of a game, honestly I’m worried we won’t win with how we’ve been playing
