- Rasool Mir (Kashmiri: رسول مِیر) (died 1870) was one of the leading Kashmiri poets of the 19th century. He was born at Doru Shahabad, a historic town in the Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir. He was said to have been alive in 1855 AD when Mahmood Gami died. Rasul Mir died a few years before-Maqbool Shah Kralawari (d.1874). He is one of the most celebrated Kashmiri poets and is popularly called as the John Keats of Kashmir. He brought Gazal to Kashmiri poetry. Gazals with rivers, valleys, birds, fruits and imagery of Kashmir are his forte.
He is said to have left this world in 1870 and his Grave/Shrine is with the Khanqah of Doru Shahabad.
Yi chho Rasul Mir Shahabad Doo-rey
Tami chho trov-mut lo-la du-kaan
Yi-vu aash-qow che-vu tor-re tor-rey
Mai chho moor-rey la-la-vun naar.
This is Rasul Mir, at Shahabad, Doru. He has opened a love-kiosk. Come ye lovers, drink free cup.
Tha-rah tha-rah chham ma-rah sha-yad
shar meh jiguruk drav-nai
Khosh yi-von nunda-bon, ve-si-yae
Myon dil-bar aav nai
I am all ashake,
I may die/my heart’s wish has seen no fulfillment
that lovely, pleasing, my heart throb/he hasn’t come, ah Dear!

The problem with some singers of the valley is the volume of musical instruments much higher than their voices which makes people like me difficult to understand the indepth meaning of such high lavel poetry like the greats of Rasul Mir.

Video Documentry on Rasul Mirs life through presence of recognised personalities like poet late Rehman Rahie and G.A.Mir Sahib of that area is of prime importance for contributory effects in safeguarding and presenting the importance of Keats of Kashmir for Kasmiries as this is the protection of our culture and all that.Worth remembering.

Hello! Can someone tell me what « poshimalan » (or something similar) means? My mom had this dream in which this word was repeated over and over again. And when we searched it up the only thing that popped up was this sort of poem from Rasool Mir. If you guys could help me that would help us alot!
Maal means Mala, Haar, so poshimaal means a beed full of flowers

John keats is the rasul mir of Europe. People dont know the intellectual level of rasul mir. The metaphors he used in his poems are beyond human intellect
